A note from an ex user and why I don't use it anymore: you can buy a second Freewell Gear Magnetic VND Base Ring, but you can NOT buy a second VND-/VNDXMISTVND-Base-Ring.. so you have to buy a complete second kit, if you want to use them on a second lens, so forget easy swapping... and also one vnd goes from 1-5, the other from 6-9... so whats missing? yup 5-6.. and yes, thats actually a problem for most 2.8 lenses in bright sunlight...
Yes! Agreed! It's a quick swap, only if you plan to use the one lens. The base filter is the part that annoys me the most. Especially since you have to take it out for the CPL's. Also, used at bright day events, noticed a lot of vignetting.
@@jimpurdum4695 Currently I am still using these. I just bought them a few months ago, and although there are issues, I still enjoy them. And for the price point I spent, I will probably keep them for awhile longer.
I am not a fan of the variable ND but it is nice that they have combined the magnetic with variable. I use Case and KnF magnetic ND and polarizer. It is majorly because the are in my price point range.
Thanks for your explanation of these filters. Much appreciated. I see that you can have CPL or VND, but what about having VND & CPL together. This is the confusing thing about this system. It seems the Base Filter would be the polarizer when using the VND's but the polarizer doesn't appear to be adjustable like on other filter systems when using the Base & VND. Is this correct?
So on the opposite side of the 2-5 stop is the polarizer and opposite of the 6-9 stop is a 32 ND CPL. But you have to take off the base in order the use that. Which can get really annoying!
great review Adam!!
Thank you! I hope it helped!
That’s a really great kit ! So much versatility and the price for what you get isn’t bad at all.
Yessir! And the glass is so good which is important!

Have you found something better? What do you use currently? Thanks!

@@TheAdamToy thanks for the update!
@@TheAdamToywhat range were you getting vignetting? Must have been wide angle, less than 24mm

Is there a reason you don't like variable NDs? Just curious.
Those are great ones! I use K&F for my action 4 and they are great!

@@TheAdamToy Gotcha, understood. Good video.
Thank you a lot!!
How is the vingetting though?
The farther you go out, like 24mm it is definitely more noticeable!
nice ND but too expensive for my budget!
I hear that! I never thought I would ever pay this much for filters.
I still love Tiffen and K&F for a more budget option!
