Gear Reviews, Photography Advice, and trying to learn how to get better at video work one upload at a time.
Beginners Guide: How white balance changes your photos
This is a short quick guide for beginners. There is plenty to discuss and this could be a much longer video. But I wanted to keep it short and simple to show how it can affect your images because understanding white balance is essential for achieving accurate colors in your photography and videography. In this video, we’ll explain what white balance is, why it’s important, and how to adjust it manually or use presets for different lighting conditions. Whether you're shooting indoors, outdoors, or under artificial light, mastering white balance will help you bring out the true colors in your photos and videos.

Beginner's Guide: How compression affects your image
มุมมอง 75014 วันที่ผ่านมา
Does compression exist in photography? The answer is both yes and no. Compression is an optical effect, not a physical phenomenon, caused by perspective and focal length. Telephoto lenses make objects appear closer together by narrowing the field of view, while wide-angle lenses emphasize depth by stretching distances. Though it doesn’t physically alter reality, compression is a powerful way to...

Amazing explanation, ty!!
I have enjoyed the review! the pace and focus on what is important. I like that your tests are real life scenarios, not clinical pixel peeping. I have found this relatable and easy to understand. I wish you tremendous growth!
Thanks for kind words!!! Glad it could help you!
Yessss
Thank you!!
Great breakdown and explanation
Thanks man!!
Super proud of you my guy ! Been here for a minute on the journey and I am here until you say it’s the END. Keep rocking and there’s no limit to what you will accomplish here on this platform and in life. ❤
Thank man! Can’t wait to see how our channels grow next year!
Hi Adam, thank you for your videos and congratulations for your consistency and beating your goals! I see that I have seen one of your first videos which was already of a high production value, and it keeps increasing. Love your content and learned quite a lot! Have a nice Christmas and keep up the good work 🙂
Thank you!! Glad you’re sticking around to watch!
Love you man i’ve started being consistant thanks to you
Thank you for the support as well! It means a lot!
The mics sound great ! Love the functionality of being able to use it with the pocket 3 and action 4.
They’re so nice with that Bluetooth!!
Can be use like flight personal item?
Absolutely! Just used mine on a trip to Croatia!
@@TheAdamToythank you ! it’s the 35L size?
This was the 25L. But 35L should work too!
great video!
Thanks for watching!! I appreciate the kind words!
Compression is another composition tool that is almost always overlooked. Everyone is obsessed with smaller F. However if you have the space compression can create really impressive results! Also definitely gonna move you out of your comfort zone 😁
Agreed! I didn’t want to get too into the weeds with this video, just a basic for beginners. Obviously there are other things to discuss like how aperture works with it, but I just wanted something easy for other to understand as they start out. Thanks for the kind words and watching!
Sorry, but you're ignoring specifically the compression and looking over the other aspects of the longer length result. For example, MFT vs full frame, to get the same aspects, in full frame at 200mm f5.6 looks the same on MFT at 100mm f2.8. The MFT can't reach the same depth of field with the same aperture, to make it work the MFT must always use the half fstop of full frame when using a lens with the half length of FF, now you can get the same results. I mean the difference of quality decreased so much because you have shown is a crop from 24mm to fit between 70mm to 200mm, you got a smaller piece of your sensor, even that, it is still possible to compare the depth of field once you multiply the fstop used at 24mm to equal the length on following crops, as for 24mm f2.8 to 70mm f8 or 200mm f22 (f23.3 to be more accurate). Once you do that, except for the different pixel density from a smaller piece of sensor, you can compare the compression and how the background shows itself very similar between each other.
I was going to say that whatever the meaning of compression is, if there is such thing, the video is very confusing about the meaning. If it is the apparent distance to the background, then there is obviously no difference between cropping and shooting at longer focal length. If it is about depth of field, you are absolutely right, changing the aperture diameter between shots only shows a lack of understanding of how DOF works. Then all the additional observations about details and artifacts related to pixel density just adds to the confusion.
That middle finger 1.30 in felt personal😂🧙🏼♀️
while I was recording I realized what I did, but I didn’t screw up what I was saying so I kept it 😂
@@TheAdamToy hehe, i think you did good!🙈 The video was great😁🙏🏽
NICE BREAKDOWN!
Thank you! Fun stuff!
Wow thank you, I think I am slowly getting what compression really is!!
Thank you so much! Trying to keep it easy!
Great demonstration!
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Excellent breakdown and video !
Thank you!! Glad to help!
my combo rn, sony 85 1.8 and viltrox 24 1.8
What a good combo! I haven't used a 24mm prime yet but that is on the list!
Still liking the black or do you wish you would have gotten the tan?
I'm torn. I love both colors! I like the black though because it is easier to match clothing! I just they had it in a deep forest green!
@ lol! I pulled the trigger on the tan. Shows less dog hair!
Oh that’s a great reason!!
@ I had bought the black, received it and then b and h had a killer deal (still do) so was able to change my mind!
I just looked. Those are really good deals for that bag! If it was that price all the time, I wouldn't have been so hard on the bag! lol
Did you script this it feels so generic
No, lol. I didn’t. I was working on a project and just decided to talk for a bit while doing it
😮😮😮
So cool to use!
Hey!! I have the Canon eos 1200d Now But i wanna buy the Canon eos rp, Do You think It’s worth it? Btw nice video :))
The RP is definitely a nice transition into the mirrorless side and staying full frame! I have not used it, but for the price point it looks nice as well as the canon R!
That click was satisfying
The only way!
The fact that you stopped and counted the filters and didn’t edit it out 😂 10/10
Can't take that out. Had to make sure I was correct! lol
Thanks for review
No worries! Thanks for watching!!
Great camera quality and the subtitles are a good idea, but I recommend talking a bit slower.
Thanks! I’m definitely trying to work on that!
This is an amazing lens. Cant go wrong with this
One of the best! Especially for the price point!!
Great list of gear and recommendations
Some good deals out there!
Thanks for your explanation of these filters. Much appreciated. I see that you can have CPL or VND, but what about having VND & CPL together. This is the confusing thing about this system. It seems the Base Filter would be the polarizer when using the VND's but the polarizer doesn't appear to be adjustable like on other filter systems when using the Base & VND. Is this correct?
So on the opposite side of the 2-5 stop is the polarizer and opposite of the 6-9 stop is a 32 ND CPL. But you have to take off the base in order the use that. Which can get really annoying!
@@TheAdamToy Gotcha, understood. Good video.
Thank you a lot!!
Nice video talking more about practicality than the hype.
Thanks! Hope it helps!!
Great video! Thank you
Thanks for the comment!!
Ooooo the toneh ! It’s my 2nd favorite focal length. Still a great affordable lens !
So affordable! I love this focal length! What’s your favorite?
Yes sir it is!
It’s so good!
Why not the triple magnet one from smallrig?
I just went with this one due to price point as well as, I don’t ever plan to use my full frame, just the action 4 on it.
@ why not double magnet one ? Is there a difference ?
No specific reason. When I got this one, I didn’t know those style existed!
Campsnap camera, camerabag, headphones, hotshoe cover, t-shirt
All great ones!
Factz I can’t even keep it on my rig without it sliding off
@@BAGAVIDLive still a great mic though!
Great video. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I don’t really like how you’re perfectly centered in the frame, as it makes you seem really short. Maybe consider leaving less space above your head?
I’ll try that! I don’t really film inside too much, but wanted to for this video. But in fairness, I’m pretty short 😂😂
Nice long-term review. I wish there were more long term reviews rather than the initial hype videos as well.
I appreciate that kind comment! That is my goal, an initial, no hype review. And then a long term review. I’ve had a pocket 3 for about 4-5 months but waiting on doing the review on it just because I want to actually use the gear before doing a review.
Great gift ideas and it’s the little things that matter when it comes to gear. Very useful things to have.
Yessir! And I saw a post was that was “remember, if they make minimum wage and buy you something for $20, that’s 3 hours of their life they spend to get you something”
So the receiver fits the Smallrig cage, but not the PGY cage. Right?
That’s correct! It’s odd if you ask me!
Can anyone tell how it is compared it with 35 150 2-2.8 tamron , in terms of sharpness and image rendering ?
I don’t have hands on experience with the 35-150 yet. I will say, from reviews I have seen, the 35mm Sony does look sharper. But the 35-150 does look like a fantastic lens for all sorts of event photography.
Great video and still a killer lens. Hmm I was thinking you had got the sigma 35 1.4 … I was wrong 😬
I wanted to so I could save the money, but that’s a hefty lens!
When I worked for a large electronics retailer long ago, people would ask me the same question between the micro SD cards vs standard SD cards, I would tell them the following: “What’s faster and more reliable: you giving a very important message to your loved one or giving that message to a stranger and hoping that they will tell your love one that important message accurately?” When it comes to speed classes, my thought process when it comes to photography only: if the write speed is a larger amount and I shoot in “high continuous” the bulk of the time, I want the card that’s best with video. I’m not a professional photographer, but I have two very active kids, I’ve lost moments due to waiting for a “cheaper” SD lagging to write. Never again!
That’s a great way to phrase it! Definitely want to send that message accurately! I definitely think, even if sometime doesn’t plan to use high continuous, it’s still a good choice to have a card with a higher write speed on the chance something happen and you need it! I’m sorry to hear that about missing those moments! That’s exactly why I started getting cards with higher write speeds because mine are active and I don’t want to miss something!
Mico sd are unrelieable and dont last long. Many died on me, normal sd cards are better
Another good reason!
There might be one positive positive side effect of having faster cards. During a recent demo/workshop one pro wedding user reported that his R6Mk2 develops less heat with using V60 vs. v30 when filming. To me it sounds plausible.
That’s fascinating! That would make a lot of sense!
Thank you !
Glad to help!
do not confuse read and write speeds. on the cards themselves the speed they write is always the read speeds unless they have 2 speeds written on them then and only then it's read and write :)
That’s correct! Most cards I have now only have one speed as compared to my older ones that have two!
I use v60 cards on my dji action 4 and on my full frame s5 v1 just to edit videos direcrly off the carsa wirhiut having to dump them on my phone lol
That’s a good idea! I have V30 for my action 4 and have had no issues!
Neat video idea. But you repeat yourself a lot; the video could be quite a bit shorter if properly scripted and edited.
Thanks for the feedback! It’s definitely still a work in progress!
@@TheAdamToy You've got this. Your presentation skills are very good and the shots look great :)
Thank you! That means a lot to me!
It does interfere in overheating?
Not that I am aware! I used the CFexpress type A and a v90 as my backup and still had my A7IV overheat on me.
@TheAdamToy Wow... At 4k 60p? How much recording time until shutdown?
24FPS. First time I understood. I was outside in 90 degree weather and direct sunlight. Last time was Saturday inside at 24fps and it was only like 30 minutes. No cage, just hand held in 4k
