You forgot to mention the killing of Sophie was a complete accident and Gavrilo was apologetic about killing her and orphaning their kids, he attempted to kill a body guard but missed and hit her
It is very sad and tragic, and if Ferdinand was the emperor, he probably would have had listen to the Serbian nationalist and come to sort of agreement based on sources.

Love the video, but there are two things that I think you should have included. First, there was the creeping barrage. It was created later in the war, and rather than simply have a barrage of artillery followed by an infantry assault, the artillery would continue to fire, slowly creeping its was forward as the infantry advanced just behind. Secondly, there was the introduction of tanks. The reason this one is so important, is because it completely set the stage for blitzkrieg during world war 2. Those are just two tidbits that I noticed weren’t included, and I think they are pretty interesting if you look into it.
@@A_reasonable_individual42 its not how useful they were at the time, its how in building such machines would influence “better” technology for the next war to come
@a_literalrat1096 Yes, I know that, but compared to the second world war tanks were not good yet, even though they were designed to break the stalemate of the western theater.

I've studied the First World War for about 15 years now. Not only is this hilarious, it's actually pretty accurate. My favorite part is the American dancing in the background stupidly at Marne 2 35:48
Smal correction, the map you used to illustrate the Schlieffen plan has Alsace-Lorraine as part of France. It was at that time called Alsass-Lotharingen after being annexed by the North German Confederation in the Franco-Prussian war in 1871.
3:05 just wanna clarify for people that "the black hand" doesnt mean his hands were black, that was the name of the group of people was a part of that attempted to murder the archduke. Another member was the guy who threw the grenade. Interestingly, the guy who threw the grenade was like, "That was embarrassing" so he swallowed his cyanide pill and threw himself into a river, so as not to get caught. Unfortunately, his cyanide pill was old and didnt work, and the river he threw himself into was 6 inches deep. The police got him, beat the shit outta him, then interrogated him
I find that whole thing hilariously ironic-the assassination succeeded on dumb luck on Gavrillo’s part, if not, then we’d only really talk about that embarrassing moment for that guy as a footnote in history.
for anyone curious, the strategy at the timestamp 18:26 ( known as the creeping barrage ), was invented by the Canadians, and was used to capture vimy ridge in April 9th, 1917, and they also used the bomb under the trench one as well, and they might have invented it too, but im not sure about that one
27:18 the Brusilov offensive wasn’t stifled by supply issues, by january of 1916 all of the supply problems in Russia were fixed and as described by historian Indie Nydel in the documentary „The Great War“ here on youtube, the Russian manufacturing machine was „simply inexhaustible“ the real problem was lack of coordination with the northern front, the northern Generals didnt commit to the offensive allowing Germany to divert masses of troops to reinforce the south and slow the offensive to a hault

27:30 “Germany declares war on Portugal” and it is shown a gun pointing from Germany to Portugal. Although Portugal had officially entered the war on the side of France, UK, Russia, etc., Portugal had already been fighting German skirmishes in Africa, namely in Angola.
