  • Our goal is to fundamentally change the way the world appreciates and engages with African food. In addition to this, we took on a challenge to introduce creative and exceptional ways food in general could be exploited and unconventionally manipulated.

      Yassa chicken is originally from Senegambia (Senegal and Gambia) 🙂. It’s the same recipe except with very few differences. Our Gambian brothers and sisters often add cloves to theirs.

      No, you can grill (my favorite) or bake

    • @MinasCrepes
      @MinasCrepes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      But you def CAN'T throw the whole thing at once . Chicken needs to be precooked as it takes a lot longer than onions to cook .

    Hallo, the link doesn't work. Whats in the Marinade? Is it chicken stew?

    • @Metoobie
      @Metoobie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Onions, and lemon juice are the primary ingredients. It's not a stew. You marinade the chicken ( I say at least overnight) preferably, grill the chicken to 60%, and then cook it on low with everything you want (including the marinade). Yassa has TONS of onions, which sweeten up the longer they are cooked. If find that Senegalese put olive, Congolese, not so much. I like olives personally after growing up in Senegal. Once your chicken is browned, everything in the pot on medium usually doesn't exceed 1 hour. Don't get discouraged by all the different recipes for this dish! Try it one way, and then try it different way to get what you like. Just pay attention to it, and I promise it will be tasty :)

    Please what can replace Dijon Mustard because am finding difficult to get some the Dijon Mustard here in Ghana

    • @Metoobie
      @Metoobie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      try a mixed balance of piri piri and an appropriate vinegar. It really depends on what you're looking for. Dijon gives a bit of heat and tangy-ness. A touch of palm oil after cooking might be interesting. look for local flavours. I learned to make this in Dakar, Senegal. Yassa is a bit different all over. Senegalese yassa often includes dijon due to the french influence, but make it your own based on what flavours you want! I personally cook with the olives (after browning the chicken) instead of adding them at the end; great flavour and texture!

    • @adegirly
      @adegirly 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you don't need the mustard actually, cse the original recipe seems not to include it, as the senegalese say. tgis is the modern recipe, but you also have the traditional one th-cam.com/video/0UFySS5P1nM/w-d-xo.html
