I was there at this speech in 2011.. damn it's been 10 years already.... You could really feel the emotion in his voice. For a long time I regretted not recording it because I never saw it uploaded anywhere. I'm glad someone saved it. It's too important a piece of trek history to lose.

Had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful human being, he changed my outlook on life. The world and the human race lost a very special person when he passed. Live long and prosper. Rest in Peace Leonard.

There is a documentary called "For the Love of Spock. Very recently made and is a very insightful look into his life on and off screen. He struggled with alot of inner demons because of his role of Spock. Was aired on the SyFy channel. A must watch for every Mr.Spock and Star Trek fan. Watch it and Live Long and Prosper. Rest in Peace Mr.Nimoy who I was lucky to meet at a Star Trek convention in the late 70's in Philadelphia.

So glad to be able to watch this. My grandmother was a fan of Spock (she passed away a month before Mr. Nimoy did) and I grew up watching Star Trek reruns. Spock resonated with me in more ways than one (I don't really consider myself a Trekkie, but anything that involves Nimoy's Spock, I'm there) and Leonard Nimoy always struck me as an insightful, humble and grounded person. At the end of the day, he was a human being with flaws but that was one of the things about him that made him so relatable. He understood how it felt to be an outsider and trying to find your identity. Spock's inner conflict of his Vulcan half and his human half is symbolic of what so many of us struggle with. "He's really not dead, as long as we remember him." Truer words were never spoken. RIP Leonard Nimoy

Spock taught me how to control my emotions as a child and teenager, but Kirk taught me as an adult how to embrace my pain and turn it positive and win in what seemed like losing situations.

No one else could play Spock like him. Spock was my idol when I was a kid. Wish he was still here, when he passed away, I felt as bad as when my own father passed away a couple of weeks later. RIP Leonard. Thanks for the memories. You'll live on in our hearts forever. Thank you Jaime, for sharing this video.

I agree, that Leonard owned the role. I though wonder if Martin Landau, who also, had "the look" might have done a good job at it, but he didn't want the job.

He was an incredible man, had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with him once, amazing gentleman and unlike some stars, not arrogant and full of himself in the slightest. Even so long after he has passed he is still missed and much loved by his fans and the fans of star trek.

If there's no actual taping of this, that's fine. Nimoy must of known on some level he was nearing an end to his life. He absolutely knew his notoriety for anything else would never exceed his 'Spock' character. Surely, Leonard is in Heaven- and we'll all get to shake his hand as we wait up to have conversations with Heavenly Father. :.) I'm happy to wait to see him, roughly 50 years, on Earth.

The words of a great man, much mourned.
43:38 “I am an incurable romantic. I believe in hope, dreams, and decency. I believe in love, tenderness and kindness. I believe in mankind. I believe in goodness, mercy, and charity. I believe in the universal spirit. I believe in casting bread upon the waters. I'm awed by the snow-capped mountains, by the vastness of the oceans. I'm moved by a couple of any age holding hands, as they walk through city streets. A living creature in pain makes me shudder with sorrow. A seagull's cry fills me with a sense of mystery. A river or stream can move me to tears. A lake, nestling in a valley, can bring me peace. I wish, for all mankind, the sweet, simple joy that we have found together. I know that it shall be. And we shall celebrate, we shall taste the wine and the fruit. Celebrate the sunset and the sunrise, the cold and the warm, the sounds and the silences, and the voices of the children. Celebrate the dreams and hopes which have filled the souls of all decent men and women. We shall lift our glasses and toast, with tears of joy."
"Thank you. Thank you. This is hard. This is hard. I thought it would be, and it is. I still owe a couple of appearances here and there, so I may pop up from time to time, you may hear my voice on a soundtrack, or maybe see a fleeting image of me on television or in a movie. But this is my final convention appearance. I'm so grateful for the support we've had, and for the love and exchange of love that we've had for so many years, it's meant an awful lot to me and to all of us connected with Star Trek. You've been gracious, you've been warm, you've been generous, you've been in a word wonderful, and we appreciate it, I appreciate it very, very much. May each and every one of you Live Long and Prosper. Good night!”

How I wish Star Trek Discovery grokked this! (Tikkun Olam, baby!)
42:41 “What is it about Star Trek? What has attracted so many people for so long a time? We told great stories, and, of course, we the cast are charming and attractive. But, what is it, what is it? Why does it touch us so deeply and cause such a deep dedication? We know that we're told that it's about the mission -- to seek out, to explore, to boldly go, and so forth. But is it that, or is it something even deeper? I think it's something even biblical. I think it has to do with healing the world, trying to make things better, solving problems so that people can live more peaceably, more comfortably, and more fulfilling lives. And I think it's that deep, I think that's why we care about it.”

I was particularly intrigued when Leonard spoke about Zeus and the sword and also the Discovery of the Vulcan sign when he was eight years old.
    I then wrote this.
How is the Tree of Life supposed to grow strong and survive if all humanity does is strike down through the center of the tree to divide its own self up?
Should we let the sword of Zeus continue to divide the human race....to kill the Tree of Life and let it decay at the bottom of the bog?
What happens when you replay evolution?
You come to understand that the Singularity is no different than the tree seed.
Both start out small and take in nutrients to then become thousands of times bigger than its original form.
For the Singularity unseen only to God.
The tree seedling seen by both God and Human.
    Both taking in nutrients.
The Singularity taking in nutrients from the Universe itself and expanding into a million branches of energy that continues to grow as its roots delve deeper into the unknown searching for more nutrients.
The tree seed taking in nutrients from the soil that came from the Singularity that expanded from the Singularity into being to provide both God and Human the ability to see the intrinsicies woven together between the Tree twisting upwards and out reaching for more light while the Singularity twists outwards looking for more nutrients too feed the tree with.
Both a perfect representation of the other.
The unseen of God and the seen by both God and Human that's lets us know the truth of evolution that is....
The tree greater than me because it lets me see that which only God can see.
Without the tree I would never see what God has created. I would never have found my other self cloven and lost across time.
Without the tree I would never have seen her, but only me.
Behind the tree, the Daughter of God in her full light that my eyes can fully see and not be shielded from.
The Seedling smaller than me but greater than God in the Singularity
The Tree but the same as me.
    The Seedling...
    Greater than me.
