The set of Classic Concentration had many notable changes as fall gave way to winter that year. First, the Halloween pumpkins were removed. Soon afterwards, the trees with fall foliage on them were stripped, with something Thanksgiving related in its place. After Thanksgiving, the evergreen trees were added into place. Even after that, snowflakes replaced the palm trees. Finally, the Christmas angels appeared just before Santa came to town. Its interesting rewatching the BUZZR reruns and seeing some of the ancillary details, in addition to a lot of the references/symbols you couldn't get as a kid, such as what quotation marks on a letter means, what a "rain", "awl", or "ewe" is.
Every 5 year old child should know what it means when the quotation marks are around the words "rain," "awl," and "ewe" mean. Don't underestimate the intelligence of young children.
GREAT show!!! I enjoyed watching it when I was younger. The problem is that while I can match up the numbers pretty good, I CANNOT get the pictographs...not matter how simple they appear to be!!!
A holiday in St. John in the Virgin Islands would likely be better than one in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. I'm not sure if anyone from that city will watch this, but if they do, I'm sorry.
"Marjorie's on the left." LOL Now that's just below the belt... As for the contestant plug, she's doing worse than wasting airtime: she's channeling Sally Julian from $otC! (W/ a touch of Harley Quinn)
I believe the next episode after this was the first with the snowflakes. Still, always nice to see that many episodes that get skipped still exist, and best of all, with the classic commercials!
@@NickCMedia markgoodson.fandom.com/wiki/Classic_Concentration/Episode_Guide/Fall_1989 Plus, my father used to record Classic Concentration quite often on videotape when I was a child, & this was one of the episodes he taped; I just found the tape two weeks ago in my garage with the OAD on the tape label (thx Dad!). Unfortunately, the VCR decided to have it for lunch 😡🤬 And furthermore, 12/6/89 was a Wednesday, & all the NBC programs mentioned in the voiceover @ the end aired on Wednesday.
@@NickCMedia That’s okay. I’m just glad I was able to find the tape in my garage & even more glad that my dad had the wherewithal to record this episode AND write the OAD on the tape label (thx again, Dad!). I just wish my VCR hadn’t eaten up the tape while I was rewinding it 😡 But that’s another story for another day...
@@NickCMedia Since BUZZR began airing Classic Concentration in Fall 2018, reliable information about Classic Concentration had become more readily available. In fact, it appears that BUZZR is airing the two episodes immediately before after this one on Monday Feb. 28, 2022 at 1 & 1:30 PM ET, (but is skipping this one, which is likely # 653). Personally, I don't like the presentation of all of the information on the fandom site, but I have found it to be generally reliable with respect to air dates of specific episode #'s.
The match ended in two quick solves by the same contestant. And instead of playing an audience game (which is only a maximum of 60 seconds long) after the Car Round, they blow the extra airtime on a time-consuming contestant plug and describing the cars (which they stopped doing regularly after '87) BEFORE the Car Round.
I almost fell asleep just watching Marjorie Goodson doing the contestant plug in this episode of CC. But she made a terrifically superb model on the show anyhow. They should've let Gene Wood do the contestant plug throughout the show's entire run because he was the announcer and that was his job after all.
Really nice upload! Thank you very much! One comment though (not about the uploader of the video), it really got annoying the way Athelia kept on "thanking" Carlton. He didn't help her on purpose and it was like she was rubbing it in. I dunno. Maybe that's just me or did anyone else notice or agree/disagree?
Glad I found these videos. I loved watching Classic Concentration when I was a kid.
I used to LOVE this show as a kid!
one of my favorite game shows
Marjorie Goodson has a fantastic sense of humor!!

wow! very professional looking. nice job!
In 1989 I was 6 years old 👧👧😊😊

This episode is from December 6, 1989. Unfortunately, Buzzr will be skipping it. At least it is in circulation.

@@pannoni1491 Close. Actually, it was #0655 on December 08, 1989.
"Back off, Gene!" @ 8:43.
Why waste airtime doing that contestant plug when there's more than enough time for an audience game?
Episode #653 (OAD: Wednesday, December 6, 1989)
Prove it.

The Fandom site, I can't accept as proof, as it can be fabricated.
Your own personal proof from your dad, that I believe.

Marjorie totally blew a lot of airtime with that contestant plug.
I think it was better when Gene did the plugs from mid-to-late-1987.

I miss game shows such as this.
@@NickCMediaIt wasn't a wasted contestant air time. I disagree with you. When Marjorie did that, it was very charming. A lot of people enjoyed it.
@@RobertoLopez-xb1mjI disagree with you because I enjoyed Marjorie doing the contestant plugs. She was very charming when she did it.
@HarlemHyena
She wasn't channeling anyone. Just wasting airtime that could have better been used for an audience game.
I disagree with you.
Marjorie is so cute hehe

That's just you. She was just having fun. She wasn't rubbing it in. If the roles were reversed, she would have laughed too.
They could have used the extra time better for an audience game instead of that time-consuming contestant plug.
I disagree with you.
