i really think that she should have won that oscar , and my proof to that was that monique won the best supporting actress, sandra is fab but gabourey should have won that year .
For anyone else that may be curious, the nominees for Best Female Lead were Maria Bello (“Downloading Nancy”), Nisreen Faour (“Amreeka”), Helen Mirren (“The Last Station”), Gwyneth Paltrow (“Two Lovers”), and our fabulous deserving winner: Gabourey Sidibe (“Precious”). Loved Gabbys speech! Loved her random shoutout to “Welcome to the Dollhouse,” which had been embraced by this awards show with five nominations 13 years prior (incl noms for Best Feature and Best Director Todd Solondz & a win for leading lady Heather Matarazzo for Best Debut Performance). Presenters Amy Ryan and the late great Philip Seymour Hoffman are faaaaar from being chopped liver. However, it would have been really neat to see Solondz and Matarazzo present Gabby her winged award. [even though, like many, Hoffman mispronounced her name - it’s Gabba Ray!!]
@GArbedg Your wish has come true. She will be starring in a film named "Tower Heist". The film is premised on a group of maintenance workers who run a con on a sleezy Wall Street insider who depleted their pension funds and who is under house-arrest in their building! Other cast members include David Chappelle, Eddie Murphy and Ben Stiller. -The Fashonista
@@GabeSancho What I meant was, her performance of that role wasn’t award worthy. Nothing wrong with her as an actress, it’s just that it wasn’t a very deep role. You really don’t agree with this statement? If not, then to each their own I guess
If I can remember correctly most of the movie is just lines of chatter inside her head. The lines she does speak are like “these test make me feel dumb” and “I had sex”
I wish we saw more of her in the film industry. too bad "most" fiilmmakers are men and they all imagine the part of a women (in any film) to be thin, big breasted and WHITE, meanwhile this proves all them wrong. i cant wait to start casting. casting REAL, BIG, BEAUTIFUL WOMEN in MY movies. not a man's movie and i bet one day my movie and the actress i casted will win this!!!!!
shes so damn cute. love her.
