      His role as Hector in “Castlevania” certainly took a journey.

    …and here you see the insanity loop in Bastion’s tragic state of being.
    He’s had a voice whispering in his head since he was a boy to murder all mutants; and forced to reconcile his own mutation with the “urges”.
    It’s actually a bit sad that he convinced himself that enslavement & subjugation of mutants would satisfy this subconscious hatred…almost like he compromised & talked himself down from mass murder.
    The way he seemed so confident & smiling when he presented his wicked plans to all those villains…he actually believed he was doing the right thing.
    Then Storm & Beast provoke him…and Bastion tells the truth: deep down, he knows that HE isn’t even human; and he resents the humans that disagree with the choices he made.
    He is simply a raging boy unable to cope with his inability to fit in with anyone; held together by desperate delusions of grandeur.

    If empathy and pity are so weak, then why wasn't it bred out of us? Why do we have eyebrows, the main function of which is to broadcast our precious thoughts and feelings to other humans? It's a product of simple math. Because it doesn't matter if you're a human in the top 99th percentile in terms of strength, speed, and stamina. You're still going to loose a fight to three or more humans that desperately care for each other. Movies and media often make us forget that. That in the real world, people don't attack you one at a time. Tick off a whole village and now you're really in for it. Humans have always been social creatures. We kill in packs. This is how we purged the mammoth, the cave bear, smilodon, and smallpox from the face of the earth. Our brains are wired to feel guilt, loneness, pity, and pain for other people. Our brain registers social rejection the same way it registers physical pain. Convicts go crazy in solitary confinement. We anthropomorphize innominate objects and create imaginary friends when we are alone. The weapon of empathy is irrevocably woven into our DNA. And it is the greatest weapon mankind has ever possessed.

      So true !!

    • @LordSiravant
      @LordSiravant 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      It is not. Our empathy has limits. Our hate does not. Our brains are not hardwired to have empathy for more than a few people in our immediate circle. We were not designed to live in large groups of thousands or millions. We can't even properly conceive of numbers above 100, hence the age-old quote about how "a million is a statistic". But hate? Hate gives us adrenaline. It gives us motivation. It gives us PURPOSE. Be it hate for a person, a race, an ideal, or a facet of society, the greatest catalysts for change are ALL motivated by our collective hatred of SOMETHING. Our hatred of not being on top of the food chain. Our hatred of infectious diseases. Our hatred of uncertainty, equality, inequality, change, stagnation. Empathy has been consistently proven to be capable of being overwhelmed and shut down, a process modern society has MASTERED through the power of doomscrolling and negativity clickbait. But hate? That moves MOUNTAINS, one way or another.

    Some never wanted to be mutants. Some never wanted the powers/gifts. All they wanted was to belong/be human. Magneto wanted mutants to belong with humans. He really feels like the ultron of mutants. He is his own character but I like his style cause you compare it to ultron's ideal or Thanos' and it feels the same or more. I ain't for extinction but I like villians with that similar ideal. Not for the outright idea or plan but just the fact that you can agree with most or some of what they say. I also like the flaws in those ideals and when they get proven wrong cause causing or wanting to cause an extinction level event clearly shows the flaw(s). The means don't always justify the ends. You can find a better solution than extinction or enslavement. But robot and technological beings like Bastion and Ultron can't be persuaded. They stick to their ideals to the very end even though they get told the flaws in their ideals. Ultron will stay stubborn and stick to his mission and Bastion's human side can't be appealed to. Those are peak villians to me. The permanently stubborn ones with mostly/somewhat reasonable means but unforgivable and unjustifiable ends and methods that prove their ideals aren't 100% agreeable. Insanity and a certain level of ignorance makes good villians

    Just realized something: Bastion’s plan went tits up because he didn’t account for Valerie Cooper showing empathy (an emotion he sees as a defect) to magneto and releasing him. He had been playing humanities worse impulses well so far (fear, hatred, intolerance, apathy) to achieve his goals, but assumed Valerie was as bigoted as he was, and because he couldn’t imagine what another person was experiencing, he was caught completely off guard when she freed magneto and his sentinels were shut down. Bastion then lost his cool and made the biggest mistake possible by turning the prime sentinels not just on mutants but on humans as well. And if there’s one thing you don’t want to do to make humans love thy neighbour, it’s give them and their neighbour a common enemy.

Those people getting the enhancements were doing so just cause they didn't want to lose their jobs to mutants. Even dr. Doom and zemo didn't know the full intent for his prime sentinals, that bastion was basically making these people into his puppets and they didn't even know

      @@YeetSpacethe thing is, mutants have just as much right to live as humans because they’re regular people, born the same way humans are, the only difference between them being a specific gene that humans don’t have that results in mutants having powers and being hated and feared by humans. More and more humans are being born with that gene, and while that can be scary, there’s no way to prevent that or predict which humans will sire mutants because it’s all natural. Mutants have as much right to live on Earth as humans, and, like Magento said, Charles Xavier’s dream is only that humans accept that Earth is a shared world with a common future, not to love and embrace mutants as their own. It’s as simple as that, that humans accept that mutants have as much right to live on Earth as they do, and Magneto wanted to make that dream a reality to honor his friend and his life.
