Speaking of ancient egyptians, everytime I see the famous "The Mummy" meme, I cannot help but imagine what the real Imhotep would say if he knew that, 5000 years after his death, people still remember him, but not exactly as an omnipotent God...
But the real Imhotep wasn't a Pharao, was he? I think he was a high priest, leading architect and overall highly educated scholar.
@@MrWillsonx right. Tho he was elevated to a "demigod" (technically a son of Ptah, IIRC) but that was later.
Imhotep was the right hand man to King Djoser who had the step pyramid built thanks to Imhoteps design. Before that they built mastabas so Imhotep decided to stack 6 of them on top one another.
Imhotep was a healer,scholar and builder so later people started to think of him as a god.
Real historical Imhotep watching "The Mummy (1991) and The Mummy: Returns (2001). Probably make the high priest jaw dropped, disgusted and rolling his eyes that his reputation in the future would make him an enemy to his beautiful ancient kingdom. After all the movie were prevalent of him throwing apocalypse to the very nation he was born and subjugating the masses like the evil god Seth.
Fun fact about Egypt: the pyramids would be considered ancient even when Egypt was still a civilization. If you made a timeline and put the pyramids on 1 side and space flight on the other. Cleopatra was born closer to space flight than the pyramids

I don't know how you all put out such good quality, well researched, well animated content so often but I really admire this channel for that.
With 12.2m subs, they can afford to pay a fair amount of people to research their topics. I can’t even imagine how much money this channel makes.
I’m not in any way saying anything against it, they’ve earned it. Just giving my perspective.
With the ‘recycled’ topics, I think they likely have people who either learn or are already experts write tons of show content, then break them up into smaller episodes and cycle them in periodically. 12-19 minutes is the perfect video length in my opinion. Much shorter than that and you can’t get info in, and not everyone has 30-40 minutes to watch YT videos.
They got it right, and it’s seemingly allowed them to build a YT empire.
100% agree, I started trying to keep track everytime there's a minor issue, like numbers on screen don't equal what's said, because they're so hard to find

Funny thing about the egyptian afterlife is that despite it being built on the concept of permanence and being remembered forever, a large degree of their monuments and burial grounds were destroyed and looted often by future pharoahs to build their own various contructs. I think thats pretty telling of human nature and history in general.
Those weren’t Egyptians that did that those where Roman,Greek,Persian rulers who had conquered egypt. Modern people truly don’t know the difference between real Egyptians and conquers and it’s sad that people really only talk about the part of egypts history when Egyptians no longer ruled! The last real Egyptian pharaoh was Ramses ii, he’s called the great pharaoh cause he took egypts kingdom back from the conquerors! His reign was not the most powerful period of Egyptian history either that was 9-10k years before him but they won’t tell you about that cause they still can’t figure it out! It’s honestly simple cause we wrote about it! They only know 5-6% of our language anyway so they’ll never figure it out! So funny to watch them try though! I am grateful however for the little they have figured out cause it brought us real ones back to our heritage, the ancestors made it so only we would truly understand but we needed a spark so thank you! Now move out the way and let us tell our own story! Also those imposters in egypt now are not Egyptians!
@@dennisbarber9528 nope. Many of the Egyptian temples are constructed from remnants of previous pharaoh's architecture. One is example is Akhenaten. Most of his stuff was torn down shortly after his reign ended.

@@Jfreek5050 what? that is very untrue. yes Akhenaten's tomb was desecrated but his body and his tomb was moved back to thebes when Tutankhamun left Akhetaten. Im not saying it didnt happen in history, but it didnt happen with him. his tomb was not destroyed to build another pharaohs tomb
@@seanchilds749 If you look at the various stones that are used in what is left of ancient Egypt they have vastly different dates according to archeological researchers, which means either they had those bricks just sitting around for decades or centuries and stacked them with newer ones or they took apart older architecture and used them to make their new works.
Not surprising really. That happened a lot in history.
The royal couple siblings is still the craziest thing to me.

If you look at Japanese history, there was an attempt by one family to keep marrying different members of their family into the imperial line. Eventually the emperor would have been descended from that line and the original imperial line would have been extinct.
So it's ick, but from a certain standpoint, makes sense.
What's next: The Life as the Chinese Emperor? If that is the case, I would really love to see it!

Interesting tidbit about the headpieces as side from the Nemes... The white crown symbolised (control over) the upper part of the Nile region while the red crown symbolised (control over) the lower part of the Nile region. Both together symbolised (control over) both regions. They also had a blue crown-like headgear (called the Khepresh) that was basically their military headgear and a white headdress with feathers called the Atef, used specifically for religious occasions.
From what I read they came from south east Africa (I forget where) and that they have more pyramids than Egypt but smaller. They even had a war where Egypt lost which they had for entertaining foreigners or something

I've been subscribed to this channel for years; I remember their very first narrator. I've noticed a weird trend lately in the comments section. It started out with one or two comments, but now I'm seeing them everywhere.... And it's the comments that indicate that they think this channel is run by one person, putting out multiple videos each week, and then the comment goes on to praise the "person" and how amazingly talented that "person" is, and how we need to stop and reach out and appreciate this "person". And yeah, this channel has some great content, they post often, and the narrator is excellent, but y'all know that this is not the work of one person, right? Please tell me you know that there is a team of people putting in hours and hours of work on these, and it's not one madman cranking out these videos from his basement every day. The weird, obsequious, incessant praise for the "person" that does the videos is a bit much. I do, however, very much appreciate the team associated with this content; they usually get the facts right a majority of the time, and generally stay away from complete sensationalism, and the content comes out pretty consistently as well. So thank you, Infographics Staff, for entertaining and educating me on the regular.

This is a 'content farm' channel, of course there's like a whole staff of people making these videos and releasing like 2 a day

I just finished our lesson on ancient Egypt In history class when you posted this.
As a part Egyptian, I'm glad that there's lots of constant research on my ancestors, my half-Egyptian Dad doesn't know much about the Egyptian side of our family.

It was very peaceful at night in those times, there was these satin like curtains hanging from the roofs over the doors, windows and beds it would protect against the mosquitoes that came from the waters near by, when the wind blew it would feel amazing, as in the deserts those years it was pure air.

Great video as always. But, you show what appears to be a saguaro cactus multiple times. However, cactus is a new world plant and thus would not have been a part of the Egyptian landscape at the time.
The old world corollary is euphorbia, which can look similar. So, apologies in advance if this is a euphorb that I’m confusing with a cactus.
At least somebody else caught that!
2 things.
1. You got the Pyramids wrong. (You show them as they are now not as they were then).
2. There are no cactii in ancient Egypt.

Kudos to the narrator for closely and better than most pronouncing Pharoah Tutankhamen's name properly. It drives me crazy when people prounounce it like Toot-n-common!

A good synopsis, we have to remember that by the end of the reign of the pharoes the pyramids were already 3000 years old. for example, the reference to human sacrifices comes from the very first dynasty of rulers that reigned even before the pyramid age. The Egyptians changed this practice through the use of small wooden figurines called chapty that were supposed to come to life once the tomb was sealed and the rites completed.

So he would always be on good body shape if he had to go to war and stuff.

Amenhotep 3s palace was torn down by Ramesses 2 so he could build another building. They often reused building material.

Interesting thing about when the sphinx was built. According to soil samples when the sphinx was being constructed the area was a jungle.
I want to know about the schooling or training for ancient Egyptian doctors or medieval European doctors
This is great and informative but, we really can only guess what the pharaohs life could have been like, we barely know what happened 500 years ago for certain, 4500 years(possibly much much older) is really guess work with our society as a comparison.
Writing things down in stone has its luxuries I suppose

It’s not that dangerous 🤔 I’ve been to Egypt, and did a 2 week tour to see most of the highlights 😍 it was great! Yes, current Egypt isn’t that great, I would suggest not to go alone as a woman (luckily I had my brother with me) but if you join a travel group (which me and my brother did) you will be fine 😊
Love this channel but do you think there could be a run on positive facing videos? Most videos are about death in some way and I learn so much but would love to see more about positive stories.

They didn't call their leaders Pharaoh until the 18th Dynasty up until then they were just known as a king.

This answered a lot of questions I had to be honest. The daily lives of the pharaohs aren't really discussed that much, only the history that they made overall.
So pretty much like celebrities of those modern times
In the Holy Quran it is mentioned that Pharao has not been accepted by water, land and even air. That is why God still preserved his body, and the body will remain the same until doomsday. He claimed to his people that there can be no other God for his people other than himself.
His body was found perhaps in 19th century in the Sea which is still preserved till date and it is in a museum in Turkey.

Just pointing out that the pyramids used in the foreground of the pyramids is it's current state today with the limestone covering only at the top. During Pharoah's time, it would have been fully white with a gold cap.
