I’m not sure how much I believe about your part about The seals “cheering” when they heard Bin Laden was the target, William McRaven on the Jocko Willink podcast said the opposite. That everyone was laughing and joking going into the meeting, but once informed the target was Bin Laden, they immediately went silent and got serious.
EDIT: Thanks for all the upvotes guys. Glad to know other people also think critically. Also I looked and it seems like 90% of the sources only come from Wikipedia so it’s important to take everything with a grain of salt.

I think the description and importance of the city of Abbotobad is more than a bit understated. It is the home of two military institutes (like West Point). It isn’t just a random town. It is not unreasonable to think the isi knew of Bin Laden’s presence long before the raid. In fact, it’s pretty unlikely they didn’t know he was there.

@Todd how could they not know ? He was living there peacefully for quite some time & it's barely 2 hours drive from military headquarters, there are military training institutes there & a number of important army people live there.
Fact is they knew it very well & they hid him purposefully to use him as a bargaining chip to get some more money & weapons from the USA.
They made a fool of the USA & I don't think the USA minds it. They have plenty of money to throw at Pakistan & Pakistan loves free money 💰.
If they get another chance, they will repeat it all over again, supporting & harbouring terrorists is part of their state policy, it's an undeniable fact.
USA still provides 100s of millions of dollars worth of military hardware to Pakistan for fighting terrorism inside their country, I can bet you a gazillion dollars that this fight will go on forever because they are just pretending to do it for money. They will take money from you, they will take money from China, Saudi & from anyone who can spare a few million dollars - it's the best way to survive 😅

There is no mention in this video of how the US trained the mujahidin to fight and equipped them for the war in Afghanistan. There are remenants of literal US bases in Pakistan where the potential talibs were brought in and trained to fight against the Soviets across the border.

I thank you for conveying the methods used in tracking down the mass murderer ObL. One key clue that should be reminded to all helicopter trainees, is that the training facilities for simulating the Abbottabad compound was to use chain link fences to simulate the 12-18 foot cinderblock walls. In this scenario, helicopter downdraft, which allows the lift to the chopper can dissipate the air-blast, while the actual compound's cinderblock reflected the downdraft-upwards, counteracting the lift capabilities of the descending aircraft, causing it to crash land, brilliantly controlled by the pilot realizing his aerodynamic error too late. No casualties happened in his crash landing, which was miraculous, and an engineering warning to all future helicopter pilots against trying to land inside a walled enclosure! Remarkable job for the Seals, for the pilots, for the President Barack Obama and his Cabinet teams, and certainly McRaven, in charge of Seal 6, nerves of steel!

This is a brilliant channel. Well animated, well narrated... To think this channel was created by some average Joe, and not some cable/broadcast company? That is quite impressive, indeed. Among my Top 3-5 favorite channels, along with the likes of Nuke's Top 5, and my very favorite, who is still pretty new, but has gotten nearly 7 million subscribers n a crazy short amount of time, Mr. Ballen. You and your associates should b incredibly proud. The educational value delivered on your chosen subject matter is unrivalled. U have no peers, because u sit firmly at the top. Yeap... Very proud, indeed. Anyways, as always, great video. Thank You for all of the obvious effort u put into this thing. U have our attention, and we r watching.👀 Again, thank you. The fact that shocked me the most was OBL's hideout and it's close proximity to the Pakistani Military base in Abbottabad city. The US used satellites to monitor OBL's villa for people living inside from the top, they saw there were two to three women but only two men going and coming out of there. In Pakistani culture it's rare for such a family system which the CIA knew of very well. Women are not left to live with someone other than their spouses or parents. The CIA realized there could be one more person hiding inside at all times. They gathered more information only to find out the house didn't have an internet connection either and was quite weird in so many ways. They used fake medical teams to visit the mansion and make sure it's someone from Al-Qaeda that's living there. But when they planned to attack the mansion straight from Bagram Airbase Afghanistan, it's most advanced choppers straight out of Area 51 that weren't detected by the Pakistani radars, or should I say wouldn't have been detected by any radar in the world. For that very reason, the US Commandos detonated the chopper that got hit by strong winds and crashed to the ground. To save the new technology from being re engineered by the Pak Army, they used detonators on the crashed chopper before taking the other chopper back to Afghanistan. However, the blown up skeleton was still carried out of there by the Pakistani army and they are probably still trying to re engineer it considering the number of advanced technologies there are to handle such objects. I have a feeling Pakistan may have recreated it or figured out how the stealth technology works. And will be used for espionages in the future if not war itself.

@@mercedesbenz3751 There was no evidence he was being protected by anyone. He was the most sought-after man in the world. According to the Bin Laden files captured at UBL's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, he was very conservative about how many hours his family spent outside within the compound and would have his grandchildren accompanied and supervised by adults. He would only send others out of the compound for emergencies, such as retrieving supplies and medicine. They grew their own food and livestock, and they were very self-sufficient. According to the Obama Administration and the Pentagon, there was no evidence that anyone within the Pakistani establishment, knew where Bin Laden was hiding or who was protecting him. UBL was very paranoid.

The main reason you don't have a lot of information to go on regarding the search for bin laden in his last years is entirely due to the fact that everything was off the books, if you wanted to know anything about how we knew where bin laden was and were coordinating an attack for a really long time, you would have to talk to somebody that was on the inside.

Sometimes these guys make mistakes on the simplest of things. When he told that the seal team on this raid had their command transferred to the cia for the duration of the mission, that was correct and all good. But… then he goes on to explain that because of that these “soldiers” would technically not be under the command of the “army” for the mission. Last I checked seals aren’t soldiers and they aren’t in the Army. The men flying the helos were army from the 160th special operations aviation regiment but I believe that’s it for army personnel on that mission.
