    I remeber the day my father bought his white 2001 silverado in 2012 when I was only a teenager. He loved that truck, it was his daily driver. He passed away on my birthday in 2021 and my mother gifted me his truck. I drive a ford as my daily driver so I bought a camper shell for my dads truck. He never got met his grandkids but his truck will. It will be a recreational truck. A "between" special connection between Grand father son and child.

      I have a 2007 Sierra, same trucks, I like it better than the stuff today. If I was going newer, I'd like a 14 or 15. I like the design, not the newer stuff...terrible looking and lots of problems too

      @@tonymeehan7859 I have 213000 miles on it now Just did a tune up last week The truck is still in awesome condition The 5.3 engine is bulletproof I plan on keeping it forever My previous truck was a 1999 Sierra it had 315000 miles on it before my wife totaled it She wasn't hurt but it goes to show that those trucks last forever

    My grandpa gave me his 2001. Pretty much same as this one. Emaculate. Needs a little paint. Only 164k miles. I’m currently getting a new fuel pump put on. Keeps wanting to cut off after 10 or 15min. Put on new alternator new relays checked battery. Just getting it diagnosed before I go crazy.

    I have an 02 Z71 that's lifted. I love my truck. I personally don't like the look of some of the newer Chevys but that's just my personal opinion. I like the 02 headlight look but the 03 tail light look but don't much care for the all-in-one assembly that takes up half of the front end. I added a triple gauge setup on my a pillar 1 being the transmission temperature Gage. Like you said they didn't come with it in the dash for whatever reason. As for the upper console the front blank plate is also an option overhead for suburbans and SUVs and that's where your rear heater/AC controls go. I don't know what your stock stereo was but mine is a CD player and that compartment at the back of your upper council is for storing CDs. The cassette slave drive is kind of humorous to myself also. Especially in 2002. 😂 I tried using a cassette adapter ( that was left in the truck) as an auxiliary for my phone but sounded like crap and went with a Bluetooth transmitter until I can get a better aftermarket stereo. At sometime in the future I will be getting rid of tape deck and putting a CB in there to make it look "factory". One fairly easy option upgrade for our trucks is adding a second battery. I added a 300 amp high output alternator and a very nice digital battery separator along with upgraded wiring and the big 3 conversion. I also got rid of my clutch fan but opted for twin electric fans and shroud and the bigger radiator out of a 2005. Nice looking truck thanks for the share. 👍

      jtpro Lots of good mods you have done! I have a video on going with electric fans you may want to check out... hope you have better luck than I did. Have you by chance done any heavy towing since installing the fans?

      @luisreviews6412  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Big Dawg I did a couple of pros and cons videos of the Tundra on my channel, you will have to check them out. As far as the cassette player... I don’t believe so but I slso really wasn’t concerned if it didn’t function with the after market stereo.

    • @bigdawg112
      @bigdawg112 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@luisreviews6412 okay thanks for telling me I've been always wondering if it worked with an aftermarket radio or not

    • @jtpro
      @jtpro 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bigdawg112 I can't say a thousand percent but I would venture to say no because it has a special place that plugs into the back of the radio and you have a FM CD and auxiliary button on your factory radio the auxiliary obviously as a slave drive for the tape deck. I had a cassette adapter I tried using my phone with and it sounded like garbage so I'm presuming the head of the tape deck needs to be demagnetized so I just opted for an FM transmitter. Truthfully though I upgraded the speakers in my rear doors and front doors also with fosgates.

    Do you think the 4.8 motor is good? I know the 5.3 is good just wondering cause I have an opportunity to get one with 96k miles but it has the 4.8

    • @luisreviews6412
      @luisreviews6412  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Edward Vasquez I can’t recall any negatives about the motor in general, it was a fairly common engine and would expect parts to be readily available. Torque is down by 40lb ft so just know that, if a commuter and hauler is what you need you should be good. Towing?

    What’s your audio set up (subs, amps, and what holds it under the back seats?)

    • @luisreviews6412
      @luisreviews6412  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      2 tens in a box under the back seat... and my best guess is it is a tight fit that they stay in place. Not sure of the amp rating, but the stock speakers have all been replaced.

    Looking at a 2002 Silverado extended cab with 110k guy wants 4k seems in decent shape but I think the price is too high what do you think I should offer

    • @luisreviews6412
      @luisreviews6412  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sounds about right, check the paint, leaks... has the water pump & timing chain been replaced? Original ac compressor? Let me just say (before this virus) the demand for trucks was high & continued to command a premium... holding their value pretty well. If it seems to check out I would say that is fair... give it a couple of weeks and I bet he would come down.

    Chevy and dodge made the best gas engines they got some stay away like dodge 4.7 V8 and older Chevy v6 but the other are solid engines easy to work on parts are easy and cheaper to find ford has some good engines too but not like dodge and Chevy engines that last forever

      Ricky Davis I shyed away from the Ford 5.4 because of plugs breaking... which just happened to my neighbor. Wife had a Dodge 4.7 did okay but once it hit 130k parts & sensors went out like crazy. Drive train was good but everything else lacked quality. 5.3 is easy to work on and widely available, plus it was before they started adding all the fuel saving junk.

      Ricky Davis I value the ability to work on them myself. I recently purchased a 18 Tundra & the leading reason was the v8 without all the complicated fuel saving junk. I know turbos are the future but sticking with a pure v8 as long as I can. I did a couple of videos on the Tundra in my channel you can check out.
