Aw crap. Missed (at least) two big things: 1) Jerricky beats his chest as a Donkey Kong reference because he just rolled barrels. 2) Memory Rick in the end credit scene first appeared in the Season 5 Eternal Sunshine episode. I shoulda caught those. Sorry guys, I got too caught up on talking about my facial dyslexia and my Dad’s past with Jimmy Buffett to do a second pass on this one. I’ll do better next time!
Another detail that occurred was that when jerry and rick drive through the window at chuxly's place, Morty is unfazed by what happens and just slightly ducks to avoid it.
You didn't mention this, but I think you know that this 30 year old version of Rick that only exists as a memory is the one that was carried over from Birdperson's memories when Rick went into BP's memories to retrieve him
I love that Rick’s realization of Jerry’s life immediately causes him to off himself. Not the loss of his wife and daughter, all the multi-dimensional horrors… just living as Jerry was enough to do it. 😂
I just wanted to say that the fused varients named themselves Burger and Fries. Burger being the one in Rick's body and Fries being in Jerry's. This makes it easier to refer to them througout the episode because technically neither is Rick or Jerry but they are also not a 50/50 blend of the two, they are unique individuals with weird amounts of both just kinda there. Its been helping me navigate the naming dilemma for Rick and Jerry so i dont stumble when discussing the episode with others.
I always thought the mafioso, chucksley, was a reference to the first john wick movie explaining who john wick is. Strengthened by the "everyone is a criminal" thing with "everyone's an assassin" of the continental
it's also interesting how in the talking cat episode, the both of them see in the cat's mind, something so traumatic that it makes them want to no longer be alive, and rick mercifully mind blows jerry, but then stoically decides someone has to remember and holds the memory instead of wiping it. meanwhile, rick couldn't handle being jerry for more than 5 seconds before offing himself, something which he tried to do on multiple occasions when he was in his own body. so whatever trauma they saw in that cat's mind pales in comparison to the trauma of having to be Jerry for 5 seconds. either Jerry is a lot more stronger willed than he appears or that cat's backstory is as traumatic as it was made to seem, or perhaps, unaliving himself is something rick is constantly feeling compelled to do, but in his own brain, he's unable to do it, because maybe something in his brain hardware prevents him from doing it, but then Jerry's brain had no safeguard, so rick was immediately compelled to finish the job.
I'm so glad that you mentioned "The Vat of Acid" callback from previous seasons, because i knew that i couldn't be the only person who felt like that was the direction that Jerricky was going towards in the 3rd act of this episode 😂
12:49 I think this one is a callback to the memory rick (from bird person's mind) being the one who keep both of their ego intact. Thus allowing them spring back to consciousness
I did think it was odd that Rick gave him a gun immediately after the first episode, but then I re-contextualized it as Rick just plainly knowing Jerry’s character and calling his bluff, knowing he’d never kill somebody because he’s a baby that’s something only rick would do.
I think the beating on his chest was in reference to the original Mario game. He had just tossed one of those barrels down at the gangsters right before doing it.
You’re not broken, please don’t apologise for that! I appreciate your honesty in how easily the brain can mix up faces and names. We all have our own struggles like that, so it’s nice to hear you open up about it!
Surprised you missed that the animal head on the mob boss’s wall was the animal from the pilot that Rick couldn’t identify and they ran from. Great callback!
i loved the callback to 30 year old rick from bird persons mind. he just completely left him in Jerry's mind 😂. maybe he will escape somehow and come after older rick.
This was maybe the episode they needed, it had real heart, not just some deeper meaning. Theres something to these characters and show that can be real and true to itself without, well, y’all know.
I think you've correct here, Rick's hardware is more equipped to "handle" all the darkness and depression while Jerry's brain/hardware is just unable. I think this is similar to when they see inside the mind of the talking cat Rick is able to control himself and Jerry involuntarily throws up
Even from the trailer when Jerry asks for Rick's help, to me it came across as Rick thinking he said rape situation and that's why he asks "rake situation?" with emphasis on the rake 😅
at 9:30 how could you not mention the Fhloston Paradise ship from the 5th element? Also how Gene's note is taped together the way Rick and Jerry end up taping their bodies as Jerricky And Jerricky beats his chest because he tosses barrels down the ramp like Donkey Kong in the original viddeo game
From when he blew his brains out. It's a beautiful detail/attention to detail that I'm surprised he didn't point out. Let's see if we see it again in the future
the title of the episode being a reference to parent trap is because the concept of a parent trap is to lock 2 people who don't get along in a room and not let them out until they start getting along. in the same way rick and jerry got locked together in both of each others heads and they had to learn how to get along. i realized this halfway through wheh i though "they tried to do a freaky friday, but ended up doing amparent trap instead andthen i remembered the title as was like. . .oh yeah, i get it"
I think you missed one thing, after Jerricky beats his chest as a Donkey Kong when he make loud noise and Flew up in air and shots laser from his eyes, that reference to ( raised by wolves) TV show
I was SO happy to see Memory Rick reappear!! I was a bit surprised that Rick actually just let Memory Rick hangout in his brain this entire time since Rickternal Friendship. Regardless though, I KNEW BP’s Memory Rick would return because I think Rick has slowly been building an expanded version of the family and himself either for preparation of when Rick confronts Prime… however I also sense that Rick Prime’s showdown may Not be what what some may assume ( a big fight to the death). I think Rick is purposely sharing his intelligence and secrets to the family, Slowly to the Smiths, so that everyone in the family will eventually come to understand just how tragic Rick’s past is and how Rick is old and filled with TONS of regret… Major Regret that is so strong; it’s left Rick C137 on the throes of depression, alcoholism, an despair… This was a Brilliant episode! Whiplash writing! Biting and sharp humor! Outstanding and truly impressive animation. I’ve felt for many years that Season 7 is going to dominate show! I cannot wait to see more of what’s to come… like how most likely next week will reveal that Dr Wong is most likely a spy that works for President Curtis to keep tabs on Rick
My brain is the exact kind of broken like Eric's. Like i understand the freaky friday stuff i just get confused part way through and have to keep reminding myself "swapped brains swapped brains" I like when one piece did it because it didn't even last long enough to have am impact it was just funny for a few chapters then back to normal.
A couple of more references. The robot serving Pina colada looks like the robot from jetsons. The way the barrels were rolled at the Jerricky fight was a nod to donkey kong with the chest beating 😅
At 4:00 where you're confused about the Freaky Friday situation, apparently the person doing the captions for the version that aired on Adult Swim had a solution. I'm hearing impaired and rely on captions to understand things and laughed every time they used the identifiers, Jerrybody and Rickbody for each character
Did they name themselves Burger and Fries (at the end of the episode when Jerricky says that Burger and Fries sacrificed themselves for the family) or did I have a that read wrong moment?
Please don’t apologize for being dyslexic, you are not broken. It’s not your fault and we still enjoy your channel. A criticism I have as you seem a bit TOO excited. Good video keep them coming.

Brother, we’re all human. Thank you for your time
Another detail that occurred was that when jerry and rick drive through the window at chuxly's place, Morty is unfazed by what happens and just slightly ducks to avoid it.
When you said Rick randomly beats his chest, I had to come to the comments 😂
Another reference was John wick
I literally came here to say, how did y'all not get the damn Donkey Kong reference after he threw the barrels lolololol
I think the Jerricky creature beats its chest is a call to Donkey Kong, considering it throws barrels down the ramp as well.
He pretends he doesn't know why to trick people into commenting.
This
THANK YOU
I said that as soon as JerRickky did it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was going to say the same thing.
The 30 year old Rick traped in Jerry's memories is the Rick from birdperson memory in the episode Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort (S5E8).
Omg you're right. I was wondering why that Rick's hairdo looked so familiar.
yes because thats a 30 year old rick?
@@kaimason_ they mean it's literally the exact same one
it's obvious
@@sh4unity204 I know, but he didn't get it in the vídeo
When Jerricky called Beth their daughter-wife I died 😵🤣
rip

Yeah.. He couldn't handle Jerry's incredibly small bubble & view of life.
Erick, you're not broken!
You are just like all of us😊
Just like all of us..... Broken
The part where he bangs his chest is probably a donkey kong reference. You know with the barrels 😊
At 5:18 I found the Alien form the pilot episode and I’m very proud of myself for finding it😊😊

12:49
I think this one is a callback to the memory rick (from bird person's mind) being the one who keep both of their ego intact. Thus allowing them spring back to consciousness
"Spring" back into consciousness, lmao poor Memory Rick
Throwing barrels and then beating their chest, I think quite likely a Donkey Kong reference.
it is not just you that can't comprehend freaky Friday situations, I have a lot of trouble to, don't sweat your doing awesome
Also the Rake snapping jerricky out of it might be a reference to the camera flashing snapping LaKeith out of it in GET OUT.
Not at all

Morty and summer also.
Paused this video just to commend you for that moment of honestly, we love New Rock and none of us are perfect! salute, carry on..
I think the beating on his chest was in reference to the original Mario game. He had just tossed one of those barrels down at the gangsters right before doing it.
i was about to comment this but i decided to read the comments first to see if i was the only one lmaoooo thank you!!!!!! i totally agree
Honestly one of the best episodes in a while
Both the conehead and howard dean references alone made this episode for me 😂
You’re not broken, please don’t apologise for that! I appreciate your honesty in how easily the brain can mix up faces and names. We all have our own struggles like that, so it’s nice to hear you open up about it!
don't fret about mixing up characters or taking a minute to process freaky friday sitches! you rock!

Whoa, this was a trip through some of Eric's deep thoughts. Love it. Rick probably beats his chest after tossing the barrels like Donkey Kong.
This was maybe the episode they needed, it had real heart, not just some deeper meaning.
Theres something to these characters and show that can be real and true to itself without, well, y’all know.
Thank god for new rockstars
The gun in the cold open is VERY "chekov's gun"
I felt like Rick offed himself in Jerry’s body because Jerry’s brain was too…smooth to handle Ricks consciousness.
I actually thought that too but I like his reasoning more
I think you've correct here, Rick's hardware is more equipped to "handle" all the darkness and depression while Jerry's brain/hardware is just unable. I think this is similar to when they see inside the mind of the talking cat Rick is able to control himself and Jerry involuntarily throws up
2:41 my headcanon is that Jerry is so incompetent that he somehow managed to activate the cyber eye in the wrong place
3:53 Same here. I rewound it a couple times.
Even from the trailer when Jerry asks for Rick's help, to me it came across as Rick thinking he said rape situation and that's why he asks "rake situation?" with emphasis on the rake 😅

Hey you are doing great, this episode was hard to follow. Love your videos!
9:13 the world is in the shape of a gun which makes sense for the crimeworld but also great detail.
Jerry killing himself actually killed me with laughter 😂😂😂best show to watch high this was a great episode probably top ones of the series
JERRICKY ! 😳🤯😳
this episode was great! they still have it
The colander is similar to the head gear worn by Doc Brown in Back to the Future when doc and Marty first meet in 1955.
Favorite episode in quite some time
This episode has to be one of the best. Had me laughing the entire time
Future classic episode.
The Way both characters merge can be over-analyzed for hours haha
@9:23 in the background sky is the cruise ship from "The Fifth Element". It flew the characters to planet Fhloston.
Where did Jerry's bald spot come from?
From when he blew his brains out. It's a beautiful detail/attention to detail that I'm surprised he didn't point out. Let's see if we see it again in the future
The voice change was very noticeable this episode, Especially Morty's.
Jerricky saying “can you not hear the sound of atoms dying” reminds me of marvin the paranoid android from hitchikers guide
Superstar was tooo funny😂
Of all the reasons I've already loved NR, PAPA VOSS WAS HANGING OUT WITH THEE JIMMY BUFFETT?!?!?! I can't even right now.
damn that fact about your dad is really neat. Thanks for sharing rip Jimmy Buffet
How do you mention Howard Dean, and not mention the Voice for Jerry playing Howard Dean in all the SNL skits of the time!
9:23 anyone else notice the Casino ship from Fifth Element just flying there?
isn't that a Donkey Kong reference when he drops them barrels down and then beats his chest?
the title of the episode being a reference to parent trap is because the concept of a parent trap is to lock 2 people who don't get along in a room and not let them out until they start getting along.

An instant like for our favorite broken TH-camr
The 30 year old Rick is the Rick that stays with Jerry. Past memory rick from season six.
Their flying RV is a reference to Space Balls
I think you missed one thing, after Jerricky beats his chest as a Donkey Kong when he make loud noise and Flew up in air and shots laser from his eyes, that reference to ( raised by wolves) TV show
In the episode at the 5:32 mark, you can see Rick still has the Kirkland brand Meeseeks Box in his garage from S4:E1
First 2 episodes have been great!
The moment before the broken plate glass, there is a cruise ship in the sky that is reminiscent of the design of The Fifth Element's cruise ship.
Cone Heads is SO funny! Rewatch it! It’s very funny and underrated give it another chance!
You're not broken mate, dont let it worry you shit gets confusing sometimes.
11:46, he beats his cheat cause he was referencing Donkey Kong as he threw a barrel down the ramp
The ape chest beating and pushing people down is for sure a nod to Donkey Kong, great video as always
Night at the Roxbury is one of my favorite movies

Grrrr.. The beating on his chest and throwing barrels, was Donkey Kong
He beats his chest like an ape because he rolled the barrel down. Donkey Kong style.
I'm pretty sure that scene they switched minds was a reference to Tony's failed flight test😂
At 11:18, wasn't this sequence a reference to Squidbillies? That was my first thought, anyhow.

Jerricky beat his chest as an homage to Donkey Kong
Also the sculptures at the end in the beach chair I THINK is a reference to The Iron Giant, "Dean McCoppin"... coping with being stranded
It’s ART
Love The Iron Giant
Yup I thought it was a reference to The Iron Giant and Edward Scissor Hands too
The chest beating is definitely a Donkey Kong reference
LOVED This ep!
11:47 - the reason he beats his chest like that is he's fighting like Donkey Kong, throwing barrels down the ramp
Fanboat chase was a callback to Burt Reynolds movies, as seen in Archer when he does the same
The X-ray rake scene drinking the milk is directly from the movie “Eraser” with Arnold Schwarzenegger!
Wholesome dad posting.
11:48 Donkey Kong. He threw barrels at the goons.

I would want to see a face/off like episode where Morty and evil Morty get their faces or brains swapped for an interesting reason.
