I've plinked around on an 1858 Steinway & Sons piano, Yamaha Synthesizer, Rolands , Wurlitzer, even a Casio. My go to keyboard is the Mellotron M4000D. Nothing, absolutely nothing compares. I'm considered a rookie in Mellotron years, I've only had mine since 2017. The Mellotron has endless sound capabilities and instrument combinations and when combined with FX effects......holy moly.
It's very nice, but way too complicated for my liking. I own a '77 Rhodes Mark 1 Stage I purchased brand new. Played gigs many years with this fine piano. Used a phase shifter with it at times. The wonderful pure tones & downright simplicity makes this probably one of the finest instruments I've ever owned.
@John Abbenda still have my '77 Stage 1. What a tremendous instrument. Maintenance wise I replaced about 10 or so tines in high traffic areas. I used it I'd say about 8 years maybe 3-4 nites a week. Used a Maestro phase shifter in the beginning. Later switched to a chorus pedal. At one point put a stand over it holding 2 Korgs, DW6000 & a DS8. Those Korgs bit the dust but the Rhodes lives on. Eventually I retired her & bought a Yamaha piano module. You could carry that under your arm.
@John Abbenda the B3 is the most ultimate organ ever produced on Earth. Just serviced one the other day for a client. Never owned one, but I did own a beautiful A-100 with a model 51 Leslie. Can't get much closer to a B than that. Unfortunately had to sell it & I regret it to this very day. I do have a nice M3 with a 145. Also have a 147. Back in the wonderful '70s I used a M2 with a 145 I bought brand new for $545 bucks! Ahhh them certainly was the days!!!
Great to have choices but only one is a Rhodes. And to be clear, there is no 'resto job' or other tine piano past or present that even comes close to what the MK8 offers either sonically, mechanially or electronically.
I’m glad to see what Rhodes and Vintage Vibe are doing; keeping Harold Rhodes’ vision ALIVE! That sound will NEVER go out of style!!😌🎹🎶❤️👍🏾
Thanks for the video! Great demo from Jamie!
Magnificent sound.
The Rhodes Mk8 was my favorite from NAMM 2022 🎹
Nice.
It sounds just like the VST versions. Amazing!!
There are a few compelling VSTs out there, but when you a&b them next to a serviced Rhodes, the difference is immediately noticeable.
@Music777 things like real strings and pickups and tube amps and tape saturation are very challenging to emulate, especially combined
Love the Rhodes Sound, but that would sound great through a phaser
my first purchase when i win the lotto :P

I hope you play Watcher of the Skies every time you're on it

How do you guys feel it sounds, compared to say the very scarce Rhodes E ?
I can’t choose between Rhodes and vintage vibe
All the bells and whistles you'll never use. I'll keep my Nord.
Great , cool, expeeeensiveee:))))))).Toys for big boys.
" $9,450 and add another $995 if you want the analog effects section. "
Thanks for the vid though
Right??? Might as well get the Vintage Vibe resto job and STILL save money!
@@dukealbert7017 You're comparing apples with oranges here...
@@scabsareus Rhodes V Rhodes....am I REALLY comparing Apples & Oranges? With Vintage Vibe's work you are essentially getting a BRAND NEW Rhodes.
