Woah it's been a while! About a little over a year ago I found your channel, and I found it really inspiring! A little after that I began learning Japanese, which I still am, and even have plans to study abroad after I graduate highschool. You're very beautiful and I think you share alot of valuable life lessons, while also showing things how they are. Please have a great day, to you, or anyone reading this :)

In addition to the nutrition stuff you mentioned was on the way, I would personally love to hear more about how you overcame your health issues and allergies specifically. How were you able to reintroduce some of your allergy triggers back into your diet? I suffer from some rare allergy conditions, it’s not traditional IgE allergies so I can understand better than most how debilitating and challenging food allergies (and then some) can be to overcome. I’m still in the diagnosis process and finding medications that work, and on a pretty strict diet so I’d just like to hear more about what worked for you with a Japan twist 🙂

Kelly, I think what would be interesting is how local people are dealing with Covid and highlight any cultural differences in their perspective of Covid and social measures to contain it. A lot of people think Japanese are similar to how China is dealing with Covid but that is far from reality on the ground.

First, good luck on your new podcast! 🙏🏼 Idea for your channel: You could video chat with fellow TH-camrs/creators who you enjoy (Japan vloggers or otherwise) and discuss what they’re up to during the current state-of-emergency (if they are under one!) Maybe show a bit of what your evenings are like with your husband. Also: do you think the use of plastic packaging in Japan is excessive? I noticed even the bananas are wrapped in it! Do you recycle regularly? Thanks in advance! :)

Hi Kelly, I know you said you’ll be working with a nutritionist and I really hope they take you down the right path on your health journey, but I feel compelled to give you some advice based on my own experience with gradual weight gain starting in my mid-late twenties after being skinny all my life.
I didn’t know what I was doing wrong as I, like you, ate healthy foods most of the time yet I was still gaining weight. I later found out that it was because I, like you, was having a lot of carbs and fats in my diet and, whether they were healthy fats and healthy carbs or not, it still has the same effect on the body: fat storage. This is because fats and carbs are both fuel sources and what your body doesn’t burn up as energy turns into fat stores on the body.
This information was revolutionary for me as I researched for a while and was hearing about low carb diets but didn’t want to part with my carbs. It wasn’t until I understood that a high fat diet should be paired with low carbs and a high carb diet should be paired with low fats that I immediately made the switch and I gradually lost the weight I had gained over the years.
I lost 40 lbs following a high fat/low carb diet as I wasn’t willing to part with my healthy fats but following a high carb/low fat diet will also work, you just can’t do both at the same time (e.g., bread (high carb) and butter/eggs/avocados (high fat)) and not expect to gain weight. However, I know you mentioned that you have SIBO, which would be improved greatly, if not reversed completely, following a low carb diet but I encourage you to do your own research and see what’s right for you.
I wish you all the best and much success on your journey.
