I understand Gary wanting Amber in Leah’s life that is her mother but he has to take a step back and realize it’s not going to happen. Amber has made her choice in life and it’s not her kids. I mean there have been times where Gary was blatantly alienating Amber as a parent and parental alienation is a huge NO-NO.... in MOST cases. Not this one. I feel like Gary was justified in his particular brand of "alienation" because it was done to protect Leah rather than simply being cruel to Amber (although I do think there was a touch of that too due to his own bitterness - and who can blame him with the way Amber has treated him over the years.)
I think Cristina hasn't asked for this because shes such a respectful and considerate human being. I feel she would have never done it, just because of how beautiful she is. So im super happy and excited that Leah asked. So that also afterwards no one will say it was forced on her. She asked for it in her own. I love it ❤
I applaud Gary for his patience in wanting Leah to include Amber in her life, but now Leah has reached a point where the relationship with her mother is not working. I think it's time for Leah to make her decision; if she wants Kristina to officially adopt her, then let her sign the papers. Amber had 15 years, and that's more than enough time to focus on having a relationship with her daughter, and she didn't.
Leah is just reacting to years of abandoment and coming and going from Amber's part. Why do parents who are not consistently in a child's life are shocked when the child gets older and wants nothing to do with them?? Gary is an incredible dad and I love how he is able to separate what he went through with Amber and never speak ill about Amber to Leah. Leah has stated so often that she wants nothing to do with Amber and I can see encouraging the relationship (as any good parent would do) but there comes a time where you have to look at your child and SEE the damage that the other parent is inflicting and then ask yourself, "Am I doing the right thing or just setting my child up for more ABUSE?" At this point, it's plain abuse and Gary needs to just back off and respect Leah. Leah can always change her mind later and seek Amber out if she wants, but right now that poor kid is just trying to protect her peace.

I grew up with a mother with similar issues. Leah is done and I was too at her age. A child knows when they’re not the priority, when they take a back seat to their mother’s vices - whatever they may be. It’s not her job or responsibility to do anything to make Amber “happy.” She gets to choose who is worth her love and affection. No one is perfect, not here or anywhere else but I’m thankful she has her dad and Christina and sister. I had the dad. She’s a smart girl you can tell and she’ll be okay.
Gary can’t force amber to be a mom he should have had stopped it a long time ago. Briana should also stop FORCING Dovion to take or do things with Stella because in reality he doesn’t have to. I feel he does it not to get into it with Briana and that’s sad.
I think he just never wants anyone to think he kept Leah away from Amber or tried to sabotage their relationship and that's the first thing Amber would say instead of taking responsibility for her own actions. He doesn't have to, but he loves that little girl and has raised her as his own bc her deadbeat father ain't ever. He chose to be there from the beginning and I think he's wonderful for that. And biological or not, if you have been there and they know you more as dad than the actual bio dad, then it does become your responsibility to keep it that way or else all you are doing is hurting a child that never asked to be loved by him in the first place. But he did. And that was his decision, so he needs to keep it that way. As far as Gary goes.. he's a wonderful dad, and instead of downing the mom and not letting Leah have a relationship with her bio mom, he tries to uplift thr bio mom and does allow her to be in Leah's life despite the decisions she has made that's hurt leah. I think that's amazing of him, but I do personally know what it feels like to try and make the relationship work even though the dads ain't shit, and in all I've made it worse on my kids. So I agree with that on Gary. But Devon.. he knew what he signed up for and that was to love & help raise a child that ain't his. That commitment is supposed to last a life time. I personally know what it feels like to watch my oldest go through that with one of my exs. He was there from him being an infant, to going on 6 when we broke up. But instead of just peacing out on me, he walked out on my kid too, and that caused damage as well. Thankfully I do now have a man in my life for the past almost 5 years that loves my babies and I know if we split he would never leave my babies. He would always still be there for them, and he's knows my oldest since birth and been in my youngest kids life since he was 3 and he's almost 10 now. My oldest is almost 18. We ain't splitting no matter what, but no matter what if it did happen, I know in my heart he would still be around unlike my ex.

I commend Gary for trying to keep Leah's perception of Amber a positive one. He's never wanted to alienate her from Leah, and I think him trying to make something happen is his way of assuring himself that Leah can never say he tried to keep Amber from her. But I think it's time for him to seriously consider what Leah wants. Legally, she's nearly an adult and of course she still has growing to do, but at this point she has a general idea of what's in her best interest. Yes, it's sad that Amber hasn't been the best mom, but that's her bridge to get over, not Leah's.
Even before the incident where Amber hit Gary all those years ago, Gary DID in fact have multiple occasions where he alienated Amber's parental rights by taking Leah and constantly threatening Amber with keeping Leah and telling Amber she would never see Leah again. He's had his shitty moments too. The difference is he's grown up some where as Amber is still that bratty child that demands everything her way while still being miserable while getting it her way.
I haven’t watched this show in years,but I do see the recaps pretty often & from what I see, Amber is still the same, “woe is me” victim of everything! Everything happens to her! She had never, in Leah’s life been an adult, let alone a good mother to Leah. Leah has a better head on her shoulders than Amber ever had. This kid is at the age where she knows if she wants to be subjected to having to coddle her mom or not, & apparently Leah is saying, “no more”. Amber’s behavior at Leah’s bday dinner was horrible. She can never let a situation be not be about herself. She talked so ugly to and about Leah at her own bday dinner. Amber is and always has been a repulsive narcissist. It’s time for Leah to have a say. Gary shouldn’t force Amber on her. Leah will grow to resent both of them.
I've watched the show since day 1 and definitely feel for Amber, but, Leah's parents who make it about her are Gary and Kristina. Amber, unfortunately, is more concerned with using Leah as a crutch for her own self-esteem, at her convenience, rather than being what and when Leah needs as a child.

What I think is that I feel so, so bad for Leah. I am at the end of having rewatched ALL the teen mom seasons with Amber on it. I started earlier this year, from the very beginning. Amber's mental illness has led to her behaving in such horrible ways towards Leah - including being 100% absent - and I'd be done with it too if I were Leah. I'm glad she has Gary for a father and that he wants what's best for her, but at this point, I also believe that what's best is for her to no longer return her mother's calls or texts and to move on with the happy, loving family unit she already has with Gary, Kristina and her siblings. Poor girl.
I wish I could contact Gary and Kristina personally cuz I've been in Leah's shoes. The longer Amber is in her life, the more Leah's mental health will decline. Let Kristina adopt her and have Amber stay away for good. Leah's literally asking for that so she's definitely thought about that for a very long time.

Teenagers are “done” with their parents every other day. Kristina is a nice lady, but she needs to remind the teen who is trying to punish her real mom, that she’s never going to adopt her. That question should’ve been dealt with the second the teenage girl said it. But Gary and Kristina are not perfect themselves, and Gary would not get child support if Amber’s no longer the Mother. Gary always knew how to push Amber’s buttons and he chose to let the info out on camera. Leah is a smart girl and she’s 15. Amber isn’t perfect, but the worst thing Leah could do would be to trigger her mother. People with mental illness have a harder time dealing with guilt. If Leah keeps treating her Mom this way, Amber may as well move to James’ state. The money would dry up for Gary and Kristina if Amber quit the show and gave up on Leah. But despite her problems, Amber really loves Leah. Hopefully Gary sends Leah to a therapist and stops acting the poor dad who wants to help his almost 16 year old get adopted. A piece of paper will not change a damn thing.

I lost 30 lbs in 3 mos by simply cutting out junk food and making walking a daily part of my life, and everyone swears I was taking something. Like ... no. I promise. Gary is a loving father he gave Amber so many chances with Leah. The men from teen mom have more sense than the ladies. I'm glad she has Gary and Kristina, but I think he needs to stop forcing that relationship between Leah and Amber.

Agreed. Leah has stated so often that she wants nothing to do with Amber and I can see encouraging the relationship (as any good parent would do) but there comes a time where you have to look at your child and SEE the damage that the other parent is inflicting and then ask yourself, "Am I doing the right thing or just setting my child up for more ABUSE?" At this point, it's plain abuse and Gary needs to just back off and respect Leah. Leah can always change her mind later and seek Amber out if she wants, but right now that poor kid is just trying to protect her peace.

I grew up with a mother with similar issues. Leah is done and I was too at her age. A child knows when they’re not the priority, when they take a back seat to their mother’s vices - whatever they may be. It’s not her job or responsibility to do anything to make Amber “happy.” She gets to choose who is worth her love and affection. No one is perfect, not here or anywhere else but I’m thankful she has her dad and Christina and sister. I had the dad. She’s a smart girl you can tell and she’ll be okay.
Gary can’t force amber to be a mom he should have had stopped it a long time ago. Briana should also stop FORCING Dovion to take or do things with Stella because in reality he doesn’t have to. I feel he does it not to get into it with Briana and that’s sad.
I think he just never wants anyone to think he kept Leah away from Amber or tried to sabotage their relationship and that's the first thing Amber would say instead of taking responsibility for her own actions. He wants to know he tried to make the relationship work between Amber and Leah but yes there comes a time where enough is enough
He doesn't have to, but he loves that little girl and has raised her as his own bc her deadbeat father ain't ever. He chose to be there from the beginning and I think he's wonderful for that. And biological or not, if you have been there and they know you more as dad than the actual bio dad, then it does become your responsibility to keep it that way or else all you are doing is hurting a child that never asked to be loved by him in the first place. But he did. And that was his decision, so he needs to keep it that way. As far as Gary goes.. he's a wonderful dad, and instead of downing the mom and not letting Leah have a relationship with her bio mom, he tries to uplift thr bio mom and does allow her to be in Leah's life despite the decisions she has made that's hurt leah. I think that's amazing of him, but I do personally know what it feels like to try and make the relationship work even though the dads ain't shit, and in all I've made it worse on my kids. So I agree with that on Gary. But Devon.. he knew what he signed up for and that was to love & help raise a child that ain't his. That commitment is supposed to last a life time. I personally know what it feels like to watch my oldest go through that with one of my exs. He was there from him being an infant, to going on 6 when we broke up. But instead of just peacing out on me, he walked out on my kid too, and that caused damage as well. Thankfully I do now have a man in my life for the past almost 5 years that loves my babies and I know if we split he would never leave my babies. He would always still be there for them, and he's knows my oldest since birth and been in my youngest kids life since he was 3 and he's almost 10 now. My oldest is almost 18. We ain't splitting no matter what, but no matter what if it did happen, I know in my heart he would still be around unlike my ex.

I commend Gary for trying to keep Leah's perception of Amber a positive one. He's never wanted to alienate her from Leah, and I think him trying to make something happen is his way of assuring himself that Leah can never say he tried to keep Amber from her. But I think it's time for him to seriously consider what Leah wants. Legally, she's nearly an adult and of course she still has growing to do, but at this point she has a general idea of what's in her best interest. Yes, it's sad that Amber hasn't been the best mom, but that's her bridge to get over, not Leah's.
Even before the incident where Amber hit Gary all those years ago, Gary DID in fact have multiple occasions where he alienated Amber's parental rights by taking Leah and constantly threatening Amber with keeping Leah and telling Amber she would never see Leah again. He's had his shitty moments too. The difference is he's grown up some where as Amber is still that bratty child that demands everything her way while still being miserable while getting it her way.
I haven’t watched this show in years,but I do see the recaps pretty often & from what I see, Amber is still the same, “woe is me” victim of everything! Everything happens to her! She had never, in Leah’s life been an adult, let alone a good mother to Leah. Leah has a better head on her shoulders than Amber ever had. This kid is at the age where she knows if she wants to be subjected to having to coddle her mom or not, & apparently Leah is saying, “no more”. Amber’s behavior at Leah’s bday dinner was horrible. She can never let a situation be not be about herself. She talked so ugly to and about Leah at her own bday dinner. Amber is and always has been a repulsive narcissist. It’s time for Leah to have a say. Gary shouldn’t force Amber on her. Leah will grow to resent both of them.

I've watched the show since day 1 and definitely feel for Amber, but, Leah's parents who make it about her are Gary and Kristina. Amber, unfortunately, is more concerned with using Leah as a crutch for her own self-esteem, at her convenience, rather than being what and when Leah needs as a child.

What I think is that I feel so, so bad for Leah. I am at the end of having rewatched ALL the teen mom seasons with Amber on it. I started earlier this year, from the very beginning. Amber's mental illness has led to her behaving in such horrible ways towards Leah - including being 100% absent - and I'd be done with it too if I were Leah. I'm glad she has Gary for a father and that he wants what's best for her, but at this point, I also believe that what's best is for her to no longer return her mother's calls or texts and to move on with the happy, loving family unit she already has with Gary, Kristina and her siblings. Poor girl.
I wish I could contact Gary and Kristina personally cuz I've been in Leah's shoes. The longer Amber is in her life, the more Leah's mental health will decline. Let Kristina adopt her and have Amber stay away for good. Leah's literally asking for that so she's definitely thought about that for a very long time.

First of all I feel like Gary do too much... You're the main reason they're separated🙄 but that's my opinion I'm just on the outside looking in
Teenagers are “done” with their parents every other day. Kristina is a nice lady, but she needs to remind the teen who is trying to punish her real mom, that she’s never going to adopt her. That question should’ve been dealt with the second the teenage girl said it. But Gary and Kristina are not perfect themselves, and Gary would not get child support if Amber’s no longer the Mother. Gary always knew how to push Amber’s buttons and he chose to let the info out on camera. Leah is a smart girl and she’s 15. Amber isn’t perfect, but the worst thing Leah could do would be to trigger her mother. People with mental illness have a harder time dealing with guilt. If Leah keeps treating her Mom this way, Amber may as well move to James’ state. The money would dry up for Gary and Kristina if Amber quit the show and gave up on Leah. But despite her problems, Amber really loves Leah. Hopefully Gary sends Leah to a therapist and stops acting the poor dad who wants to help his almost 16 year old get adopted. A piece of paper will not change a damn thing.

No teen has a good head on her shoulders, no amber is an adult with MH issues that’s why she acts like a teen herself personality D/O meds and psychiatrists therapists visits and many relationships failed ones lost her children and so on is like we all seen this on reality TV… so no the adults have to handle this.. like leave the teen out of it sucks to see this but is obvious i hope that mom don’t get worse with her MH i seen it i work in social work myself clinical social work in addictions.
The fact is Amber is the mom , no matter how Leah feels!! Yes Kristina is a good stepmom but unless Amber signs the papers and agrees, I do not think and maybe I am wrong but I don't believe They can force Amber to sign the papers!
