This one you just sort of have to feel out as you go. Pay attention to your results on Facebook and Spotify, both by country breakdown, and start whittling things down when you see very obvious patterns emerging.
This is super helpful, but I dont agree with the first set of targeting. It is very easy to target the wrong audience on a new account. Targeting all Spotify countries is tricky and will likely lead to a lot of clicks without getting listeners. I would start by targeting the top countries of similar artists for a while to "season" your pixel to good conversions, then expand outward.
@@tomdupreeiii Yes. I started broad and had a lot of bad clicks in a hand full of countries. I narrowed down to the top countries for a while to get a better listen/click ratio. After a bit I expanded back out. Places like Poland, Turkey and El Salvador were just clicking before, but became listeners after I brought them back. Some countries never turned around though (Algeria, Egypt, Pakistan) they still clicked but didn't listen. My theory is that FB learned who I wanted and targeted better when I expanded. Just my experience, nothing scientific about it.
Awesome. This is really good to know. Thank you for sharing your experience with it. I did the same thing early on, weeding out areas that were clicking but not converting. That definitely helped to improve results. I suppose, in my head, I sort of lumped that process into the transition from step one to step two where I started targeting the top 30 countries from Spotify for Artists and didn’t really include that troubleshooting step in this video. Glad you pointed it out in this comment. I hope others will see this thread if they have questions about that.
what if i'm an brazilian artist with songs in brazillian portuguese? Shoul i try to target my ads to small cities in brazil when starting? (contrary to what most americans think, people in small cities in brazil do have access to spotify lol) i'm an hip hop artist from rio de janeiro, there's a very common thing happening here, the small artits normaly blow up in these small cities before blowing up in the major cities like Rio and São Paulo even if the artist com from these major cities, in my opinion this is doe to the competition and the smaller cities seems to have less resistence to small artists. If there is anything u can tell me abou this it would be very helpfull, thanx!
I think that’s a great strategy. You have the unique perspective of knowing what works in your area far better than someone in another country. I would definitely try this, especially if you see other artists in your area doing the same thing and succeeding.

If I'm targeting every single Spotify country, I'll separate them into two tiers. Tier 1 is NA, SA, EU, and OC, and then Tier 2 is Africa and Asia. And I'll cap the budget on Tier 2 to only spend $1 per day out of the $10 per day that I spend consistently. That's it!
