Unfortunately, Opel/Vauxhall are just an extension of the PSA line-up nowadays. Yes, I know they were owned by GM, but they didn't quite borrow anything from GM during that time since Opel/Vauxhall were kind of the european division of Chevy, so they were fully developed in Europe and for Europe and that really set them apart from the American designed GM cars, and it even gave them their own source of identity. And, now, it's pretty much the other way around, as almost everything featured on the new Corsa is taken straight away from other PSA cars in order to cheapen the project.
I had one of these as a courtesy car while my car was in for body repairs it was a manual. The gears were notchy it skipped and jumped on the road when cornering after going over a small pothole. A touch of KA+ in the back end. And making the car so low won't appeal to the older demographic, it's a no brainer if you look at sales of the Dacia Sandero Stepway, Renault Captur etc., the 'grey' money will go elsewhere.
I've driven one today, 166 miles of pain. The gear lever is cheap and it moves a bit every time you put your foot on the gas, pedals are way too crowded (clutch and break pedals are way too close to each other), the rest pad for the left foot is extremely small(cannot be used, that's how small it is). Ah, and the seats are not fantastic either, on entry levels at least. It is the first time I've struggled to find a decent and comfortable driving position. It drives well on back country secondary roads as long as you don't need to change gears. I'm 6ft 1" and shoe size 8.5 so I should fit and feel comfortable in the cabin....
Yes, and this rest pad gets in the way when depressing the clutch pedal. making it difficult to change gear especially when simultaneously depressing the brake pedal.
Could you please tell us how these new three cylinder engines compare to the four cylinder, not only in noise but in durability and why go down to three cylinders in the first place. Thank you
I've got one of these for a week while my mazda3 is in for body repair. I had a 308 GT 130 with this engine but I swear this is faster despite being 30bhp down. Maybe the 8 speed auto helps as the changes are practically seamless. Totally agree with the ten to two control stalks, it just feels weird. Also the use of plastics throughout, I recall my astra K felt cheap in this respect. Equipment level is astonishing on the one I have, practically auto everything. Would I actually buy one? Well, my experience with this engine is not the best. They run a cambelt in oil which caused no me end of problems resulting in a trade in on the aforementioned mazda. The belts are known to disintegrate and block the oil ways and worst case scenario will destroy the engine. Supposedly this has been fixed with a new belt material update from 2017 on but the jury is still out on the longevity. PSA currently have a recall of over half a million puretechs from 2013 - 17. Spec for spec you’ll get more kit in your Corsa than you will in a Polo, I know I’ve done the comparison and nobody ever pays list price at Vauxhall, plus interest rates from Vauxhall finance are usually significantly lower than what Volkswagen offer.
I don’t understand why the dislikes are like 10% instead of normal 1-2%.
I'm waiting for the first owners comment to say engine management light is on...
Happened with every damn vauxhall I've been unlucky enough to own...
Only one I liked was a 3.2 diesel signum...
Till it broke.
je but it's a PSA engine +management now....
You wanted to say, Opel designed new Corsa on PSA platform? And its 6 generation Corsa!
Looks a lot better with the optional diamond cut alloys and the bigger infotainment screen it makes the current Ford Fiesta look very dated now
Is the presenter Quintin Wilson’s son ? sounds like him
The current Ford Fiesta knocks this thing well out of the ballpark. The interior, exterior, and pretty much everything is far better on the fiesta in my opinion. www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/ford/fiesta/hatchback/review
the new vauhall cosa looks fantasic
Technically it’s a Corsa F so 6th gen, psa buying them out was probably a good thing now especially with all the engine troubles they had. He said it’s only available in 5 door so does that mean the Vxr is dead?
Pretty much. I doubt PSA will be concerned about reviving a sporty version from the GM era.
The paint finish 😳😳 00:46
Gallopingclap it’s the grounds reflection
Bence Békefi thank goodness for that!
Wow I know Matt Watson didnt create car reviews, but you've definitely copied his format in perfect order.
If you’re considering this Corsa, take a look at the new Peugeot 208. It’s got much more style.
What about the depreciation? Is it better with the 208?
After test driving one of these they’re not actually that bad the interior design is a lot better than most hatch’s nowadays and it is nimble and light I just wanna know if they’re going to make a VXR 🤔
It will no doubt sell very well
Previous model looked a lot lovely
So it’s a rebadged new Peugeot 208.
This 208 should never have been called a Corsa! I can’t wait to see the Corsa that should have been pop up somewhere across the GM brands. They’re not going to waste all that development so it must be around somewhere.
Can someone tell me the background musics name?
Glad you didn't show the one with the digital display, with its black borders on each side. That thing looks horrendous.
if i had £26K to spend on a car i will immediately go for BMW, but since i dont have it, i will drive my corsa D
Is this a manual car?
Corsa he’s wearing red pants 😎
It looks like it's from the past
Let’s not beat around the bush, literally no young person can afford this car. Even on finance
! I’m currently driving one of these with 450miles on it brand new. What I would say is it’s very small n even though this one I’m in is fully loaded with Parkin sensors, full digital dash heated seats n the lot but personally if ur lookin fr something this size then get the fiesta in the st line as I had one fr a month n it was amazing it felt much bigger than the corsa n drove amazingly but I personally think it also looked better than the corsa...jus my humble opinion Anywayz.🙃✌🏾
Peugeot internals... I think I’m good
You are living in the 90s. Check out the 2019 European JD Power Vehicle Dependant Study. Peugeot were number 1.
Absolutely nothing wrong with Peugeot so it’s a big improvement compared to the absolute trash that Vauxhall we’re making
@@leeshill9142 amen! I've always enjoyed Peugeot ownership and found them to be more reliable than Ford's and the like. Same with Renault.
Rob McSorley I currently own a 2019 208 and it’s just an absolute pleasure to drive traffic motorways and country lanes are no problem for it and a very pleasant place to be in compared to the cars I’ve owned and driven in the past. Definitely an underrated city car
@@TheDigitalDadUK JD power is absolute BS, peugeot has never been that high in reliability doesn't matter what those BS sites show
Do you mean Opel did a good job, right? Or is this one somehow designed in the UK
I hear the person responsible for the pricing also recently escaped from Arkham asylum.
You say the elite nav gets heated seats but this one is the sri but it has heated seats
