  • It’s the battle of the superminis as we pit three of the most popular cars in Britain against one another! They say the best things come in small packages, well I found out which one of these is the best, covering looks, interior, driving and even practicality. Can the fun handling, fan favourite, Ford Fiesta claim the top spot, or will the practical and sensible Volkswagen Polo rain supreme? Perhaps the hight affordable Vauxhall Corsa will prove to be the class best thanks to its sheer value for money. Find out what I really think of these superminis in this Head2head class video!

    Let's be honest here, who buys a small hatchback to carry 3 adults in the back, I cant remember the last time I saw a car with 5 adults in it. Cars like these are for people with kids.

    • @rayaanshaikh5830

      Wouldnt say so, these cars are generally driven by the young ones - seem to be first cars of choice.

    • @ridingwithsam
      @ridingwithsam 7 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      Rayaan Shaikh But even so they won't be worrying how well they carry 3 adults in the back. They're bought because they're cheap to insure and run. You buy a big car if you want a bug interior

    • @craigroberts5965
      @craigroberts5965 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      It's an easy demonstration of size.
      Plus, for comparison purposes it makes sense to test all cars the same way. No point testing the small hatches with three kids in the back then testing the larger hatches with three adults.

    I have always been torn between the corsa and fiesta but always came down to what you get for your money and the Corsa always won for me. although if you want speed/acceleration, then fiesta is the go to. Never driven a VW polo,so I haven't got a scooby. Corsa's have always been reliable for me and if anything ever needed replacing, was always the more cost effective option. I learned to drive in a fiesta and it's what I always wanted but practicality had to play a role.

    Fantastic! My brother had been learning to drive in a Fiesta just like that one, they are very smart, all 3 are nice cars here, of course the Polos 1.0 3 cylinder engines are from the Up! Overall fine in a lighter city car like that but just a bit too unpowered for anything bigger, the horsepower even for small hatchbacks is best at at least over 80bhp.
    Would be nice to see a city car one as well

I looked it, not a hijack target, not pricey, solid, decent weight, I love it. I added optional extras such as navigation, advanced park assist, engine auto stop start standard and more std features. Lovely

    • @BraveAndSoul
      @BraveAndSoul ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gamesmaster1060 you must to try the 1.5 TDCI engine with 95 PS and then you will enjoy a lot this car believe me. I have one of this engine but with stage 1, new sport distribution and K&N sport air filter. That's how i reached 130 PS with a torque of 265nm from 215nm. The difference feels amazing and the car feels very good. As for the exhaust, I have to change it and the suspensions need something more sporty and after that, I just want a free and dry road in front of me and everything will be perfect for me. The engine is very resistant for me. I didn't have problems in the last 2 years and that 20000 km what i drove them. The 1.0 motors overall are a big shit we know all this. This is the sad reality... :(

    People forget that those seats in the back are NOT meant to be used regularly. It is mostly for when there's no other way. It's like complaining on the rear seats of a Mitusbishi GTO; yes, it is meant to be more practical, but not by a lot. This is a car that is meant to be occupied by 1, two people maximum.

Avg. fuel consumption is 5,3l/100km and I drive very aggressive. Especially on 215/45/R17 tires it just handels really good in corners and is really steady driving 200+ km/h.

    @Carwow - Love u're vids but I'd love to see a comparison either - 5-door - 5 door same catalogue price or same price for what-ever-u-get + narrative (Polo Mark 5 - 2009 with FL) Fiesta (Mark 6 - 2008 + FL) and Corsa (m. 5 - 2014 - 2015). BTW TBH - you got two "super minis" on the market - Estate editions of Fabia and Clio. In this car segment those offer most - longer than seg. C HTBs, a good perception (bigger and still kinda new). I got it - there's no benchmark to compare all at once... But considering price, size, tech, design - I'd opt for any aforementioned Estates - Good luck with Carwow

      FWIW in March 2016 I bought a new Fiesta ecoboost 100 from dealer stock with a great deal (fast forward to 2022 and there's almost no such thing as dealer stock anymore and I could probably sell the Fiesta for what I paid for it - but it's a "keeper"); it is a great fun drive and it's on the optional 17 inch wheels which IMHO look really good and set the car off. My younger daughter is currently driving a 2016 Polo 1.2 TSI bought a few weeks back with 50,000 miles (about twice the mileage of my Fiesta). it's a much more "mature" car than the Fiesta with a notable upgrade in interior quality than the Fiesta and more modern dashboard display, infotainment system etc.. but it's the Fiesta that puts a smile on my face when driving pleasure is taken into account.

    Ford Fiesta are everwhere i like the look of them bit they are just to common for me and the polo i like the best just cause of the comfort and you can get 1.2 tdi which has a decent amount of power for a first car. Then the corsa and ngl the new ones are decent but it'd still rather the german vw.

    the 1 thing that i hate about my corsa is that it dont have MPG display, when your watching your pennies it would be the greatest thing considering lots of young people purchase corsa's.

  • @nwind7709

    I agree i think that the Opel (Vauxhall) is better then the other 2 car's.
    It has better look's and it has better interior.
    The Volkswagen Polo looks like the same from 2010-2012 zero improvement on the outside looks. The interior is slightly better from the 2010 Polo, but the driving is better.
    The Ford Fiesta is a good car, the front i think is better then the Opel/Vauxhall but the side and the back are really bad looking. The interior is nice, but not better than the Vauxhall/Opel, but the driving i think is better than the Opel, but the Opel's engine is better then the Ford's. Overall the winner here is the Opel (Vauxhall).

    Personally, coming from a vauxhall corsa for my first car to a VW golf mk6 gti (huge VW fanboy), if i could go back in time, id probably still change my mind and pick the fiesta for my first car, dont think you get less bias than that 😂😂

Now I own vw golf 1.6 tdi and polo 1.2 petrol. Golf is nowhere near my fiesta. And polo is slower than me walking 😂. Anyway my wife drives polo 😂

    Ok I'll throw in my comments based on facts of actually owning and driving all three cars, and not just stuff that I've read. First and as I've said many times and written here on TH-cam (and agreeing with Matt) the Corsa is the best all rounder of these three, as it does feel biggest inside, its very reliable, the ride is comfortable enough, its just good at everything without being class topping in anything and for that reason I'd recommend people to buy one. So, breaking down my own findings based on what I have ACTUALLY owned (present or past) and drove with two of them being brand new cars:
    * Vauxhall Corsa Club 1.4 auto (2009 car) - I drove this for 3 years, never any reliability issues with it other than a 'niggle' which was the windscreen wiper would make an audible knock when at full swing almost like it was too long, fuel consumption was average, comfort was fine and not soft or hard, interior room was very good, it was an excellent all rounder and for looks then I would call it a good looking car without turning heads.
    * VW Polo Match 1.4 auto (2012 car) - I drove this for 3 years after the Corsa, never any reliability issues other than 2 replacement windscreen wipers and 1 blown headlamp bulb, it felt a better quality and had a classier inside than the Corsa, it had more solidity of build than the Corsa, comfort was fine without being too hard or soft, fuel consumption was excellent with 62mpg on a given run longer than 30 miles due to its 7 speed DSG box (and I am from a part of the country without motorways), its a superb car and class leading in terms of solidity, its engine is smoother than the Corsa and made the latter feel like an arthritic wheezy slug on the road, but one 'downside' for those that I am aware make an issue of 'looks' then yes I agree the Polo is a dull looking box on wheels (but I don't care in this regard).
    * Ford Fiesta Edge 1.4 auto (2012 car) - actually this car was second hand is my wife's and has been owned for 2.5 years, however I've driven it many times particularly when she has wanted our Seat Leon with it's increased room for our adult children and grandchildren, it's proven reliable, fuel consumption is average but nowhere near as good as the Polo, comfort is very good and not too soft or hard, interior room is okay but doesn't feel as large as the Corsa, and as for looks to me its stunning indeed the prettiest of these 3 by miles but there's so many Fiesta's on our roads that I doubt they turn any heads.
    So in summary I would state that all of these 3 cars are excellent cars, none is outstanding in all points, but if you wish for an excellent all rounder go for the Corsa, if it's build quality and superb mpg its the Polo, if its comfort and good looks then has to be the Fiesta. If the money is available and you can make any choice then I would go this way: 1) Polo, 2) Fiesta, 3) Corsa. However, I stress none of these cars are bad cars and I would not argue with anyone who selected differently unless their main criteria is for the looks and I have never gotten that one but maybe I am more mature in years than most who argue in this regard. One deciding factor could be for those having second hand cars and here thinking of ease to obtain parts from say a breakers yard I would imagine the choice would be: 1) Fiesta, 2) Corsa, 3) Polo.
    Thank you, Paul

      Dahlia Man I agree the polo is bets for MPG comfort and quality. I have not seen a corsa though but with the older models before this one they were shocking Amdahl dealers were selling them brand new for £6000

    • @Dahliaman1
      @Dahliaman1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chatta290 As on said I wrote on experience of actually having owned and driven them all and that's that. However, I did not say the Polo was best for comfort and I feel I gave that to the Fiesta. Personally I have never heard any horror stories with any of them and I am from the UK.

    • @Horizon301.
      @Horizon301. 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dahlia Man I am also from the Uk and with potholes and driving at high speeds the polo is far better, more insulated less wind whistle whereas the fiestas chunky wing mirrors cause a lot and the suspension is far more suited to less ideal road conditions e.g. Pothole covered roads. The polo has far better quality aswell not to Mention the depreciation is lower then the fiestas why because it's a VW

    • @Dahliaman1
      @Dahliaman1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chatta290 Very well put, and I forgot to mention depreciation which of course would be another factor to consider.

    • @Horizon301.
      @Horizon301. 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dahlia Man yeah my parents bought both in 2014 valued at the same and this year with the same milage the polo was worth around £1500 more so that shows the VW depreciation tactic is true and its because its a more desirable brand

      I think it looks the worst of the three. An ugly egg shaped thing with messy lines and angles. I think the Polo is vastly more pleasing looking.

    • @MachonaVideos
      @MachonaVideos 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@moonwhistle The Fiesta here might win it, but that's only because it’s the ST-Line model. They should have used a fiesta without the body kit, like the Corsa and polo.
      If they're gonna use an ST-Line, then it's only right to use the Limited Edition Corsa and Polo R-Line. The Polo definitely looks the best in the R-Line trim by far in my opinion.
