Got a smile at Jimmy Hendrix and marveled at the 3:55 scene . It merged in to your studio. What a beautiful life. Why don't you, if you didn't already did it, paint the scene? Looking forward to this work
Thank you very much - I have painted the view many times. My book 'Views through the studio window' is full of small oil studies of the view. It changes so often just in one day I could probably paint it for the rest of my life and not get bored
@@AndrewBarrowmanArt Thanks for the appreciation. In fact I observed that frame with the book title only after posting the comment and after that gone through all those studies in your website. Such a humongous body of work. Still, IMHO, a view of that window with works on both sides including, may make one great study. Wishing you all the best at your exhibition
Hi Mr Andrew, 😳Stunning!!!! Incredible!!!! All!!!! Especially, about me, The house on the shore with boats, and Jimi Hendrix portrait, and the boats on black and white.... One better of others... You, Mr Andrew, deserve more success on asctract painting and classic draw... Because, You, Mr Andrew are simply perfect for this amazing work..... 👍🏆🙋♀️
I enjoyed looking around your studio space. I'm having a new small studio built at the moment, which is exciting. So, it is helpful to see how other artists set up their own painting spaces.
Great to see inside the studio. So much lovely work! I hope I can make it to see your exhibition. I really love the light in the Lamouth creek painting..
Your works and studio are great, you know how to share, I am very happy to watch your videos and subscribe, you are very serious, including your short videos are also well edited, a great channel, and a good painting status.
Why are you holding on to all of those paintings? We had a jimi hendrix day. It was so much fun. We all jammed & giggled the whole day. One of our fav days.

It's funny you mentioned Truro ... I live on cape cod and many of our town names are"twinned" ,same names as your towns in England ... Do you have a town called wellfleet? ... beautiful paintings particularly like the one towards the end with mist/fog upper right side
Thank you for watching Nancy. We don't have a Wellfleet but I know there is a Truro in Massachusetts. There are lots of others such as Plymouth, Birmingham in the US etc. It is all very interesting and shows the close history between us
Nice tour Andrew. And really brilliant recent works.! I wish I could see your paintings at the Royal Cornwall Museum for myself...perhaps someday. Cheers from Seattle.!

Hi Andrew, can you tell me where do you get your natural wood float frame lengths from. I'm looking for a supplier to make up my own frames at different sizes. Much appreciated. Dominic
Hi Dominic If you’re in the uk you can buy moulding directly from Lion picture framing company. I know Jacksons Art also do some ready made in popular sizes. Hope this helps 👍🏻
The Marseille soap flakes look a great idea, I might have to get some to try out. Can they be used for acrylic as well as oil? Also, any plans to make a video about framing? I'd love to frame my own work but wouldn't know where to start.
nice space with the good big window for light! Is it a building with alot of other artists studios in it? Yes I have always admired Jimi Hendrix too - where did he come from with his out of this world abilities?!!! I do love your charcoal drawings/paintings very much, that long one with a sailboat sailing is a beauty... you do some of them on regular cardboard? do you gesso the cardboard first? Im trying an experiment with using oil paint on watercolor paper that I first coated with water based clear varnish (like Modge Podge decopage varnish) to see what happens. You have such good energy and devotion to your work which is inspiring! thank you for the podcasts!
Thank you very much for your kind comments. I like to do charcoal drawings on plywood that is gessoed before drawing. I am into paper at the moment though, for drawing and oil painting 😃
Hi Andrew, I happened to stumble upon your TH-cam channel and website. I am based in The Netherlands, but my mum is from Cornwall. so know it quite well. Love your outdoor adventures and work you make. Just a question if I may. At the 3:15 mark, I hear you say that the three charcoal sketches have been varnished. Does that mean you do not use a fixative spray? Hope you can give some insight. Thanks and whenever I am in Cornwall again visiting relatives, I'll be sure to visit one of your exhibitions. Take care, Rob
Hi Rob Thank you for watching the video. I do spray fixative on the drawings first. Many thin layers until nothing comes off onto my finger. Then I varnish with cold wax medium. Quite a long process but it seems to work ok. Let me know when you’re next in Cornwall and you will be welcome to visit my studio 👍🏻 Best wishes Andrew
Thank you - Sometimes I do with a matt varnish. Usually if the paint has dried unevenly and sunk in a bit I will spray a layer of matt or satin varnish over the painting
Hi Andrew, great video and space’ beats my 10’x8’ shed! With regards to floating frames are they sold with the painting? or just the painting , I have some linseed oil that I use for timber can it be used with oils
Thank you very much I wouldn’t use that linseed oil for painting. It ought to be more refined and purer for painting. I sell the paintings framed or unframed. It’s easier to send overseas unframed 👍🏻
Some excellent work and l'm sure it will be a successful exhibition. Where do you get your mouldings from? I find framing takes up a lot of productive time if you do it yourself, but to get it done by a framer costs a fortune if you have many paintings.
Thank you very much Mark. I buy the moulding from Lion picture framing co in Birmingham. Very good and fast service. It’s true it takes time away from painting but my framer doubled his prices after lockdown so I had to go down that route 👍🏻
