Does it live up to the crazy hype?
How much would I pay for this?? Worth secondary prices?

I feel like I got lucky at 120.00 for mine. A blind with Jack Daniels SBRBS would be interesting.
120 for your first bottle is a good price and definitely worth it for the experience 👍. It would be interesting but I do admit I like the JD SBBS rye more when I had them side by side.

Before watching this even. Yes. It’s that good. My guy pulled this behind the counter for me knowing I’m an old forester guy. And gave it to me for $100.
I’ve since found it for $200. I’d buy it again. I need to bury it in the yard because I need to stop nipping it when I walk by the bar cart.
Hey Nick! The Old Forester Barrel Strength Rye is a wonderful pour and I probably need to do the same as I only have half a bottle left! 😆. I'm just glad there are so many great barrel strength ryes now so even if I can't find this bottle soon, I'll always have a great rye on the shelf 😁.

I just got this at my local bevmo for $80! Im torn between the bourbon and rye! My pallet, the bourbon probably 😅. Based on your comment of $80 and two cases...i should go back and get the second bottle
If you like Ryes and are an Old Forester fan, getting that second bottle is a "no brainer" 😆.

Had it, love it, and nursing my bottle. Got lucky and found JD SBBS Rye and it's just as delicious in its own way. Both great bottles and going to have to buy the JD rye when I see it and remind myself that the money I'm saving will let me buy something else just as nice in the future.

Great review David. I have not ever seen the OF SB Barrel Strength Rye at a store. I have bought 4 bottles of the OF SB Barrel Strength Bourbon so far in 2023. I would pick up the Rye if I ever found it for MSRP. 🥃

Hey Nick! OF barrel strength rye is a good one but 175 is a bit too much 😅. Now that JD barrel proof rye, Old Overholt 10 year rye, prideful goat 6 & 8 yr rye, and Sagamore ryes (among others) are available, I would wait until you find it at close to msrp before getting this bottles. When I did the video review, JD rye and Old Overholt was not available and Sagamore was not easy to find.

@@WhiskeyBank I’m definitely waiting. My contract sells me the JDSBBP Rye for 57.00 bucks and I have a couple bottles. I have seven different Sagamore’s that are great and I’ve got the Prideful Goat 6yr and Rum finished. So I have plenty of great bottles. I would buy the OF if I find it for under 100.00 bucks:)

Sexy ? Interesting... sounds delicious. I love the "Whiskey Row" series and hope to find this in the wild myself. I am trying hard to stay at the MSRP for my purchases. So many great whiskies out there that I haven't trying yet and Im I'm ed with patience. Who knows, things may calm down with all the hoaring and products might just be on the shelf on a regular basis. I know, the world needs dreamer.

It's best to be patient, you are right that there are so many good whiskeys out there now, you really don't need to spend secondary prices to drink a good pour. Redwood Emerald Giant is a good comp. Sagamore cask, JD sb rye is good, barrels vary greatly w the 3 i have tried. As good, close, and dissapointed. They JD special release Rye won the taste off of the JD. Have not compared it w OFbp.
Its one of my favorite ryes, ne k amd neck w Michter's BP rye

At the time I made the video, JD BP Rye wasn't available yet (only the special release, which is a unicorn to me) so I wasn't able to compare back then, but now that I have a bottle, it might be a fun comparison (maybe a video idea??). I have the 2022 Michter's BP rye, but I haven't opened it yet for some reason now that I think about it. Might be time to do so. Let me know if there is a match up you want to see! @@WhiskeyBank wasn't a fan of the SR dbl Rye. A little toast goes a LONG way w me. Michter's toasted got me in the SR game. Drank Kentucky Slorot for years wo knowing it was a single barrel 101. Lol

I think I paid 70 or 80 for mine. I’m not a fan of Old Forester bourbon but that Rye is great. I wish they would do a sherry finished barrel strength rye. If I was going to over pay for one this would be one of them.

The sherry finished idea is a great one as I love the Sagamore sherry finished rye but the Old Forester Rye would certainly top that one! Hopefully OF listens to you and makes it happen! Well, one month later after posting my comment, I found this for $66 at my local total wine today. Warehouse K Floor2 but 133 proof. I hope it’s good and I’m going to savor it. I also have JD SB proof rye but 129 proof. Wish David was near me so I can share.

I saw the OF SB BP Rye for 180 and it was an easy pass for me. I just couldn’t justify spending that much. After this video I’m glad I didn’t buy it. I hope it becomes more readily available
