Revisiting this video again 9 years later... Still just as impressive I know you probably know nothing about me, but your videos were one of my biggest robotics inspirations as a kid. I partially owe my success in the real world to your incredible creations! Thank you so much
This is acctually one of the most amazing things i saw on youtube. You sir created an awesome thing here. It really blows my mind how you imagined this and did the progamming. The movement looks so fluent. Thanks for putting that much work into this. You should work for some kind of company. The world needs to have this kind of hexapod.
His robot destroys more or less any robot on planet earth that dont have guns mounted on it....such a insanely talent and he works as a consultant....he should be head of robotics some where in the world.
Now, find a way to put solar energy collection pannels on the legs and some sort of clear protective laminate over that. that will make it even better.
This is actually an amazing design for outdoor robot, the rolling mode could be used to traverse flat terrain quickly and efficiently, while the hexapod mode could be used for rough terrain
This is the most amazing robot i've ever seen. Atlas, big dog and all others are cool but far too complex. This is something i can imagine actually having!
I love the mechanics of the MorphHex, it demonstrates rather advanced physics for this robot, not to mention the addition of the leds. Very impressive work.
I can't stop saying how great this robot is. It is fun to watch the robot evolve and becoming more flexible. That must be a big amount of work going into it too. Good video as always. :D Greetings from Germany
I wonder how much time it can move before running out of energy , all those servos seems to take a lot of juice. Any way this's one of the most amazing robots i saw on youtube till now , keep up the great work :)
I've been consuming all things Bot for some time now. If you count the years leading up to now, insane. However, I've only recently decided to take my career interests in this direction so of course my interests have moved past the oooh, ahhhhh, that's cool phase to somewhere considerably deeper. Hands down, you have managed to build my favorite bot of them all. The entire design is absolutely incredible and I can't wait to see it's evolution as we move forward. Additionally in my own designs you've given me quite a bit to think about in regards to leaving the conventional behind. Huge wow, humbled, incredible.
I could only dream of ever getting this good at robotics... this is masterful artwork. its like an actual life form, I imagine it roaming costal areas like a crab and opening up with a solar array to feed on sun light. I need to know how to build one!
Your work is so impressive! It looks like something that belongs in a SF movie. I hope you're working on commercial applications for this. I can see this thing rolling along on the surface of mars, stopping now and then and unfolding with solar panels to recharge.
Im no robot know-it-all but that method of locomotion is quite unique !!! I mean i've seen tracks, legs, aircushion but that very clever way to achieving movement is just amazing to see ! Plus it has a standard Hex leg setup for a more stable though slower means to get around !
i have a few questions, the one i care about the most is: WHERE CAN I GET ONE OMFG COOLNESS LEVELS OVER 9000 PLS CAN I HAVE ONE I WILL PAY U 1 MILLION DOLARS!
This must be the most awesome robot I've seen in my life. It just makes me imagine the future of this concept. Super fast transforming between modes, maybe even flight. I see this in brushed Al or chrome. What do you think?
This is absolutely awesome! Very well done! You should market this you know, I bet a lot of people would love to get one! Especially if combined with an AI, I bet the possibilities are quite broad!
2:03, one day I'ma be walking down the sidewalk sipping my juice carton when I see a nice round ball roll by, then all of a sudden it opens & lights my ass up with bullets, joining the resistance now
Would love to see one of these with a Google Home installed. And maybe a little projector. Basically I want to put an AI version of this in charge of my house.
So. Management with mobile, web-cams, mp3, recorder, solar panels, wireless charging, the ability to roll without shuffling the feet, transfoming to quadrocopter, projector, smaller sized it would be the best, and gps of course. But, but it's already so awesome. Too bad I'm not an engineer. I want it in size of tennis ball. =) I just fell in love with it.
This would make an awesome defence/police drone thing. its all green and smiley for crowd control etc... then the lights go red and the guns come out. very cool robot
I have to ask, how plausible would it be for you to, on a later version of it, have MorpHex be able to walk on *both* sets of it's arms, as in both hemispheres? I saw how on the MKII you gave the non-walking set much more mobility to help with the rolling primarily, but what about giving them an identical chassis as the walking hemisphere with the expanding base and all? It'd probably shorten the time it takes to go from ball to walker by a lot since it wouldn't matter which side it stopped on and it wouldn't matter if the walker got "flipped over" or toppled by something. Just my two cents, the creation is absolutely jaw dropping as it is but as human nature has shown, there's always a way to improve... ;)
you should put nfc in it and around your house so it knows when its close to something and changes colors or changes modes of walking automatically. That's be neat to see
This is amazing!! Omg I would love to have this, this could be perfect for people who don't want animals or allergic to them. Like you could give it a voice like the portal robot (someone dubbed over one of these demo vids with it and I thought it was neat) that would be so perfect! I would definitely want one in the future if you ever decide to go public and sell these.
Anybody who thinks a robot is creepy is a bit paranoid. Robots cant do anything unless it is a thing there specifically programmed to do. BTW, This should REALLY be put on the production market, I think a LOT of people would like to buy one of these.
Is it able to withstand hops or bounces? I'd love to see it launch itself across a small gap in ball form. And with rubber treads for an exterior. Truly fascinating piece of engineering.
Love the project! I am an NYU student working on robotics and had a few questions I was hoping you could answer. -What type of board did you use (I'm use to using Arduinos, buy I'm guessing it might not be able to handle that much data input)? -Did you use C or Python to write? -For the physical hardware, how did you power your servos (I've had a hard time working with more than 12)? -Also, how did you make the white outer shell? Thank you in advanced for any advice and help you have!
Joe Young Hi. I'm using an ARC-32 controller combined with SSC-32 servocontroller. Basic code. If I would make it today I would use a Teensy 3.x MCU and a SSC-32. C++ code.
There's not really any reason to believe otherwise. After years of adaptation and evolution, most organic life-forms are perfect for sculpting robots after, due to efficiency that is inherent in organic form.
Tis is a superb machine, and I would love to see this made available to the public. Any plans for the future of this model, or is this just a hobby project for you?
these could be amazing for nasa if incorporated correctly, i could see 500+ of these working on stuff for building and repairing things for space missions
What if you put FPV cameras all around the circumference of it's middle and make it so you are always channeled the view of the roll direction or when you transforms it into walking mode whichever camera you want also designating that direction as "the front" then you have a cool little scout robot.
i could imagine it flowering open at the top to fold out solar panels for self charging... that would be really neat!
joetonyf same here
ya smart
"WALL-E"
I was just thinking the same thing
A better idea would be if the panels themselves were solar panels.
Good, good. Now make it eight feet tall and put neutron lasers on it.
No pls you can make it a little bit larger but not that
Reminds me of those hardmode lazer shooting things that you get in the hallow on a blood moon.
(terraria)
Oh, and make it swim, 'k?
Swim? I'm looking for those fins to flip up into a heli blades so it can fly.

the robot has so much potential , you should have a patent for it
Aperture Science already patented this.

Please tell me this is going to turn into a Droideka eventually.
150booyadragon DESTROYERS!
My 3 yo daughter loves it.
She now rolls on the floor pretending to be morphex
Now, find a way to put solar energy collection pannels on the legs and some sort of clear protective laminate over that. that will make it even better.
How about a ceracoat and a brush?
I remember the mkI (probably?) several years ago. This is one of my favorite projects on the Internet. Keep it up!
These hex balls are just getting more and more awesome. Your progress is amazing. Talent, and knowledge, may it always be with you.
This is actually an amazing design for outdoor robot, the rolling mode could be used to traverse flat terrain quickly and efficiently, while the hexapod mode could be used for rough terrain
VERY impressive. The MorpHex is so fluent and the design is unique and functional. Amazing work!
that robot is amazing!! i love the way it has progressed over time
im just amazed by the craftsmanship that went into this
This is the most amazing robot i've ever seen. Atlas, big dog and all others are cool but far too complex. This is something i can imagine actually having!
On a serious note this tech is amazing, well done to whomever designed & programmed it
I love the mechanics of the MorphHex, it demonstrates rather advanced physics for this robot, not to mention the addition of the leds. Very impressive work.

Any way this's one of the most amazing robots i saw on youtube till now , keep up the great work :)
ahmed galal Thanks. The battery (2S 5000mah LiPo) last for about 20mins. But the servos need a break after 10-15 mins due to high load.
8 years later and still amazing to me

EPIC!!!
Your bot just keeps getting more and more interesting.

I'm Speechless, could watch this the whole day.
It is such a beautiful robot, the locomotion is my favourite. its so organic.
this is by far the most amazing robot ive seen
Morph ball acquired.
I wonder how much did it cost and how long it did take to create such cool cute robot :).
i have a few questions, the one i care about the most is:
WHERE CAN I GET ONE OMFG COOLNESS LEVELS OVER 9000 PLS CAN I HAVE ONE I WILL PAY U 1 MILLION DOLARS!
+xavier k. haberle No problem. Wire me 1 mill USD on my paypal and I'll send you MorpHex ASAP..
lol
That summons up what I wanted to say.
Zenta give me this robot i pay 5 mill USD thats more pls
+Zenta Heh I'm a bit late, But in all seriousness, If you were to market these robots how much would they go for?
Can we get one with the Portal turret voice?
th-cam.com/video/JtMiofUCQhA/w-d-xo.html you're welcome
This must be the most awesome robot I've seen in my life. It just makes me imagine the future of this concept. Super fast transforming between modes, maybe even flight.

Hi Kåre, really impressive design and work you have done. Keep up the good spirit!
Just imagine how cool/cute mechanical pets these things could be!
Freaking amazing!!! Congratulations! I've been watching since version 1
Neat! Imagine one of these with a VI and a wireless router built in. A sort of personal computer/pet. ^^
Soon it will have props pop out and fly!!!!!
That thing is so cool, it needs to have its own movie!!!!
This is actually amazingly impressive!
Looks great Zenta!
reminds me of portal. this looks amazing :)
2:03, one day I'ma be walking down the sidewalk sipping my juice carton when I see a nice round ball roll by, then all of a sudden it opens & lights my ass up with bullets, joining the resistance now
Expect a call from DARPA, the Pentagon and, the CIA.
Very intriguing, I love how smooth the synchronisation is. Maybe there's a possibility for a camera system, kinda like a hi-tech, syfi recon bot.

I want it in size of tennis ball. =)
I just fell in love with it.
Really like what you're doing ^^
People like you make humanity do their best steps :)
Have you thought about a kickstarter campaign to raise $ to take this to a consumer product? It's absolutely fantastic work that you've done.
That is one incredibly sexy piece of engineering! I want my own!
This would make an awesome defence/police drone thing. its all green and smiley for crowd control etc... then the lights go red and the guns come out. very cool robot
Someone should contact you to use this as a robot in a movie. great work... (I know this is 4 years too late LOL)
this is the most awesome robot i've ever seen
I can totally see this being used in space exploration on planets. Just add mini cameras in between the legs, tucked away when not needed.
wow this is the most amazing robot i heve ever seen. and i am looking forward to the next video. or mk4!
If you can get ti to reliably roll and walk up 30-45 degree inclines, you will have the robot everyone will want.
This is brilliant work! Respect! :)
You did a really great job, makes me want to become an engineer
Man this is amazing. Loving every bit of it :D
This is great. Thank you for being on earth :)
This is amazing! Great job!
I need one. Zenta is a master roboticist!
That's fantastic! MorpH reminds alive. I wish I could have one as a home pet...
He has an incredible future as a war robot
Amazing it look likes a wierd animal, but cooler i'm glad to see this project progressing your work is awesome, can't wait to see more !
This is ADORABLE. I love it.
coolest robot body design ever
It looks like a happy puppy when it's rolling

THE MOST EPIC VERSION YET
The rolling is sorta creepy, but my god do I absolutely love this thing 8'D
great work..! really amazing...
It's so adorable!
:O That was AMAZING!
Ya pretty colors thank u for the inspitation

This is so cool... beautiful
love this machine 💛
Holy crap that thing is amazing.
The future isn't now, it was back in 2014! lol
Reaction wheels will allow it to move without changing its shape.

Nice work zenta! Which batteries you use?
5000 mAh 2S LiPo in standard hardcase
This is awesome, keep the amazing work :P
Love the project! I am an NYU student working on robotics and had a few questions I was hoping you could answer.

"Where are those Droidekas!?"
The Droidekas:
That is really amazing
This is the most fucking awesome robot I ever saw
Best hobby robot ever.
Okay, this is a beautiful piece of tech....but its also kinda terrifying
