@@HeavyMetalLearningdo they have a place in iowa for training? Hastings is not that far away from me here. I know there's camping in the area.. hmm. I would love to get trained. How much does it cost.. or is there companies in northeast iowa, southwest wisconsin or south east east minnesota. I have my osha 10. I know how to drive stick.
The training I got in Australia The teacher just handed us the answer sheet and let us operate the machine with no idea how to even do a trench or anything and gave us a pass ( that back fire on me when I enter construction work )
Quick question, do you believe obtaining a job right out of school with your certification but with no on a job experience. & how much would the schooling cost?
Sort of like driving a car but only time you've actually spent on the road is with your learners permit. You need to get used to how much soil the bucket will pick up per scoop, different types of soil weigh differently. How much movement you actually have around you, where you are putting your soil; into a truck or into a pile, etc. Making sure you font hit a person, a building or power line (depending on where you are reaching). They are working in just plain DRY dirt with none of the usual impediments and distractions you have in the city. This looks like a breeze compared to the rigors of a busy work day with scheduling timeliness and no one screaming at you to tell you to hurry up there's trucks waiting to be loaded & it's costing money..... Not an operator but 12 years construction experience behind me with high rise construction. This is very simplified presentation.
Through watching your videos, I have lant somuch on how to operate a machine. I want to be part of your training for more understanding. Am in Sierra Leone. In Sierra Leone we have compine but operate ar small, so plz am interested
Been driving excavator for years no and off but got a job now driving for about 3 weeks been saving frog's picking them up with bucket putting them out of harm's way.not Eazy in a 20toner
Condensed presentation plus they are just 'playing in dirt'. You have to be aware of existing structures, live gas, hydro and water lines. Trenching so your 'spoil pile' doesn't fall in on a coworker. Access for other workers who will be in the hole building forms for crane, etc - plus the 'gallery's surrounding the job site once you've dug the hole & scaffold stairs so other workers can get to the lowest level to prepare for shotcrete walls, etc. Know where to put dirt that is being removed, how to get the machine in and out of the existing 'parkade' you've just developed for the General Contractor, etc. This is just their dirt yard with nothing in the way to distract the operator. Not saying it's simple, just it gets far more complicated in the city. Not often you'll be digging on a flat hunk of land with nothing surrounding you.
school for operating is good to have, but it usually comes down to who you know and experience.
This was awesome!!

Should be pretty easy. No official certifications needed plus you’ll have vet points. Thank you for your service!

Not sure I can answer that myself. Lots of variables go in to that!

I'm supposed to go to school to learn about heavy equipment operator . Is that all there is to it?
Not at all, there is a lot more to it. Years and years of experience helps.
