- Another coveted Nebraska elk tag has been drawn! After several years Cody finally drew a Nebraska elk tag. It wasn't the bull tag he wanted, but a cow tag is the next best thing! With his Henry Color Case Hardened 45-70 in hand, Cody heads west to chase elk and fill the freezer!

That color case hardened beauty is my dream 45/70 rifle. Barrel length with octagon barrel aesthetic and load/unload brass tube as well as side charging capability.

I drew here in Nebraska 2 years ago for bull and got a nice 6x6, last year I also drew again but for cow and filled in what was Bordeaux but now unit 3. Waiting to be able to apply again in 4 more years. Unfortunately it wasn’t a Henry I used
I dont have the 45-70 but i do have a big boy steel in 44mag. Awesome rifles and awesome job. God bless

Nilgai (large antelope of India) get to ~600 lbs. They are available in Texas on the big ranches that have exotics. I think the .45/70 would do adequately on one of them. Also a bison would be a good hunt if Cody ever got a chance to hunt them. 🦬
