In a different era, Waldetolf would be revered like Tchaikovski or Vivaldi. Such beautiful and incredible symphonies!
I wonder if in the future people will look back at John Williams or Waldetoft and see them in the same light. Williams probably will be more influential considering how many more people Star Wars and other movies reach than Paradox games, but man a lot of these soundtracks are moving

Your music is amazing, The Axis theme gives a feeling of dread and incoming danger, while this one gives a sense of hope like the liberators have arrived.
That's what I was thinking, but failing to find a way to verbalize. I haven't played the game in a long time, and I got most memories playing HOI2, which has different themes. I remembered the horns in the intro, but I had totally forgotten how emotional the melody is, once it develops past the introduction. Once you think of it alongside that war, and the sacrifices associated... well, you said it best! It's the sound of hope and liberation!

@@MarcosGarcia-kx4rb I know, I played HOI4 as well, but my favorite playthroughs have been HOI2, dunno why, I prefer the map simplicity I think. Realistic type map is well and good, but the map of HOI2 feels like a war map rolled out on a table
Maybe it's nostalgia too, I was younger, times were different, and I was able to immerse much more deeply than these days.

@@lipe6859 Well, France surrender when Germany is on the rise, at 1939-1941, but France still got hope in 1936 and still be considered a super power, meanwhile Italy in 1936 is still weak, they doesn't improve that much, and most of their mens are still not ready for war, so that they die quickly

I found out about
Andreas Waldetoft after I started playing Crusader Kings 3 when I googled who was the composer, then I found out he also composed this gem. It's just awesome, uplifting and hopeful.

This game has one of the best scores of all time. I absolutely love every track, but this one holds a very special place. Such reverence and gravitas, not to mention a palpable feeling of loss. Bravo, Mr. Waldetoft. I would love to see this made available for purchase on iTunes or even as a physical album sometime.

This and 'The War Ends' are absolute masterpieces. Thank you so much for your contribution to this wonderful music! The game did not need them but boy does it add to it. Outstanding! Perfectly captures the emotion of the liberation of Europe and the progression onto better things.
You pieces are great. I also use them as "soundtrack" for my novels, when I write them.

Eu comecei a jogar hoje e amei esse jogo, curto mt a ww1 e ww2, e ainda mais com essa trilha sonora, arrepiou tudo quando abri o menu pela primeira vez, ate saiu uma lagrima.

ive heard this music hundreds, maybe thousands of times but this is the only time it actually sent a few chills down my spine. weird how i had to see it "live" like this to really appreciate it
It certainly adds gravitas. I'd rather imagine anyone who's ever played an instrument before already considered the undertaking that this was, though. Certainly an amazing effort on the part of all involved

0:01 0:12 why it does sound like we are. In one piece?
My first hoi4 playthrough was a pretty unforgettable experience. I started as Nazi Germany but ignored the east and attacked the Benelux countries and France instead. It went really well until Republican Spain won the Spanish civil war, joined the allies, and invaded southern France with UK and free French support. This did not go well for me. Long story short they take out Italy stupidly fast and invade Germany through Austria and France. Eventually I lose a vastly shorter then expected WW2. BUT THEN, to my surprise, I didn’t “lose” the game. I was now the Republic of Germany! Some more time passes and lo and behold USSR invades Poland. I felt bad about being a jerk the year before and ask to join the allies. For the next like 4 years I find myself invading the USSR as Germany alongside the UK, the US, and Poland! It was seriously awesome.

Eventhough they call it the Allies theme. I think this is the perfect theme for ww2. It has so much strength and emotion tied into this piece. World War 2, with all its Glorious Heroism and all its horrific tragedies.

Having heard this like 50 billion times when booting up the game, this doesn't feel real
It feels like an epic crusade for defeat the fascism, then it turns melancolic, like a bitter victory.
I utterly love your soundtracks, they are incredibly evocative and still absolutely beautiful on their own.
This song makes me feel like an allied soldier having fun with comrades in a peaceful flower field on the netherlands

Was the inspiration for this song based around the events of the war that happened? Like mid song it sounds dark like nazi germany is taking over and throughout the song it sounds like many of the small and big countries are slowly banding together to stop the looming threat
