Man it’s easy to forget how good these guys were/are. Everyone of them is a virtuoso on their instrument. John kills it on electric or stand up every time, Frank has to be one of the most underrated guitarist of all time, and Eric is so often overlooked as a player because he came up in jazz during the 80’s . Chick is a living legend, period. As a drummer, I cannot think of Dave Weckl without a complete sense of amazement overcoming me. I, to this day, remain a die hard Elektric Band fan.

He was only 4 months away from his 80th when he passed away! It's taken me a few listens, but I love the way that Corea's improv AROUND the theme, without actually stating it outright, still brings Patitucci and Weckl in perfectly on the last unison statement of it. If I only saw it once, in one performance, it would probably pass me by. But that gives good reason to the proposition that every performance by an improvising musician or band should be preserved.
I also love the way that every time I hear this tune, they manage to do something different with it.
I also love the way that they gather at "front of stage" for the unison lines in the middle section, in the manner of "Hey, look what we can do...." ....
I love the way that they all look happy to be doing this.

It's amazing how much grew over the years. The first time they ever play that song, it was only Chick, John, and Dave. I just love how later on, they brought more instruments to the song! 🔥❤️
