I found it! Yahoo! Thank You Dear God for my Grandparents, who loved, cared and shared their lives with their only Son and their five Grandchildren, me being the youngest (1963). This Bowling Alley Game Time is one part of my Childhood that brings a million other parts together and proves that loving, caring and teaching Children is what God is all about!! ✝️🤗☮️🇺🇸
I remember watching this when I was a kid. I can’t believe this Eldon Pinsetter was sort of inspired by the Brunswick Pinsetters that had the most simplistic design. Even though this toy was discontinued, pretty much Mini Bowling at this kind of size was still alive til this day thanks to us TH-cam Bowlers (like Andys Bowl, ThinkCleverAndSmart & many others) that we’re in love of Pinsetters, we made realistic Mini Bowling Alleys and majority of us are in love with Brunswick cause this is the company that had the most simplistic parts. No one in our Mini Bowling community have made AMF Machines cause they’re too complicated, so that’s why Brunswick is the best Bowling Company for Mini Bowling thanks to their 2 iconic Pinsetters, the A2 and the GSX.
Now THAT is one amazing tabletop bowling game I have NEVER seen before. The live action is just SO real. Even the way the pins are shuffled back into place. Wow! Sure wish they still made them like this today. Seems like the precision, quality & crafstmanship is a thing of the past, like in so many other areas... Thanks for posting!
I received this game for Christmas way back in 1966. It was my favorite Christmas present! The sides were brown and not blue. The bowler was red as in the video. You had to put in the pins after each frame. It's so expensive because no one makes this and it's a classic. Some toy companies should look into reviving this game. This is a great game for children and adults! The hours of joy that this game brought me. If only I had kept better care of it. I could have made a nice chunk of change selling it! Who knew that this would fetch such a high price? I lost most parts to this in a flood and the lane wound up cracked. BRING BACK ELDON BOWL-A-MATIC
Hello! I’m not sure if you’ll still be reading the comments, but this video ignited the fire inside me. You gave me the motivation to start saving up for the toy. After three years, I already got nearly three times more money than I need. A few months ago, I went across a platform and saw the brown variant. I was so excited-and the game was in perfect condition. It cost me approximately 100 USD and I bought it right on the spot. After a few months playing with it, unfortunately, the sweep assembly broke and I've tried gluing it back but failed. I felt dreadful every time I looked at it, so I left it on the top of my closet and hadn't touched it for two months or so. A few days earlier, I came across this video again, Christmas holiday began and I felt that it was time for me to fix it. Feeling more powered than ever, I started printing out the broken parts and successfully fixed it. I was on cloud nine. Thank you, the person who ignited the fire in my heart, who gave me the motivation. This meant a lot to me. Thanks so much!
I had one as a kid. I loved it! This one must be a resto, as I remember mine was brown, not blue. Amazing piece of engineering for it's time. Just like a real alley, the pins would get stuck in the ball return and jam it!
I got one for my birthday in 66 when I was 10 years old. I loved this game so much as I was also in a junior bowling league. Unfortunately about 3 months after I got it I had some friends over and we were playing it and one kid got wild while leaning over to get the pins and he fell on it breaking main parts in the big gear and ball return assembly. I was devastated for a long while after that and missed playing this wonderful game. I attempted to glue it back together several times with no luck at all. Glues just weren’t strong enough at the time. Wish I’d held on to it but didn’t.
What a riot! I bowled a lot as a kid and I had one of these; the sides were red on mine and at some point the mechanism broke so it got tossed. You have to be a kid or have a buddy to scramble to the other end and hand set the pins each frame. The balls that came with mine were so light that you felt like Rodney Dangerfield bowling; it would literally hit the pins and deflect clear off the lane. To get even I got a slightly larger heavy marble which made it possible to shoot some high scores; bad news was it was too large to go into the ball return so you had to snag it when you reset the pins. I played with this thing a ton when I was about 10-12. Too bad they don't make some games like this for kids today.
I love this! I owned one as a kid growing up. Would love to get my hands on one again. I had the brown one, but I always thought the blue one looked cooler.
I played this when I was about 5 or 6 years old . It was a fairly new game then and I remember watching all the cool mechanical workings , but I can't remember if we had to load the pins each time or if that crank did it or just return the bowling balls . Any way , THANKS for the chance to see one again .
This was indeed a marvel of engineering. The BAM shown in this video is missing a clear plastic cover that used to go over the pinspotter works -- a nice way to protect the latter from dust, I presume.
I wonder if this could be automated using a LEGO mindstorms set to automate the cycling of the pinsetter... I need to save up and buy one and get to work.
@@maggiedog2005 Thanks, but I'm not a kid anymore. At my age I would prefer to spend the money on a couple of good bottles of Scotch. Good luck with the sale.
Maggiedog a very nice pirce of history! Do you have the original box, instruction sheet and plasic cover for the pin holder? I would be interested in making an offer if you are interested - please let me know!
Do you know the diameter of the bowling balls? I have lost all the balls, is there a marble or something that will fit in the bowler's hand and the machine without screwing it up?
My guess is this game doesn't actually reset the pins automatically. I notice your video cuts to the pins when they are set up without actually showing how they are set up.
Nice Video! Whoever made that video must be a genius. I'd like to buy a Bowl-a-Matic can you ship it out to Kuwait. I will ship it back to my Dad for his birthday. Thanks Maggiedog 2005.
Are the balls you are using OEM? Or are they something you picked up.? It seems that those balls hit with more power than the ones in my game. Too light, very hard to strike with. Do you know where I can get spare balls and pins?
The bowling balls in the video were made by a marble manufacturer. The size is about 18mm in diameter. I do not have any original Eldon pins for sale. I do have some non-Eldon pins that will work on the Eldon Bowl A Matic Bowling Game. The base on these pins are slightly wider than the original Eldon pins.
I wonder if someone is trrying to reinvent this game just as it was then, actually better than before, they could try making the pinsetter automatic, make it a bit bigger, add 100s of different colors and patterns for the bowling balls, and 2 lanes next to each other, I'd pay good money for something like what I described

I do repairs on non-working Eldons and list them for sale on Ebay.

One of the greatest little games ever produced. I have one.
The kids of today don't know what they're missing.

We had one of these and it got disassembled or something. Some current toy manufacturer needs to get ahold of the old molds and make new ones!
THE NOSTAGLIA I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS
Same and I always wish I had these
Thank you for your comments. I also worked as a Brunswick pinsetter mechanic many years ago.

No, manually turning the crank handle operates the pinsetter, sweep assembly, and ball return.

Pins are retrieved from the pit and manually placed in the pin deck.
