In my opinion, the A340-500/600 is one of the most elegant looking commercial aircraft ever build but it's not competitive anymore when it comes to fuel consumption. The A350 is a great replacement, though.
I do feel that IL-96 is the underdog and is usually ignored here in the US because it is russian built. however the IL-96 is probably a great plane that should not be marked down because of its origin.
Il-96 is a dead meat. Even Russian give it no future other than a few planes produced per 2-3 years. It loose in economical comparison against A340, let alone T7.

I have been in a malaysian airlines 777 and a Singapore airlines 777, i go on my first a340 in May with swissair, from what i heard the a340 is more reliable and if i go accross the ocean i want 4 engines not 2 lol, I have also heard that the a340 is better for the passenger comfort.

Before we had to heighten our airport security, I would arrive at the airport hours before my flight just to stand on the observation deck. I did not care about the weather conditions. I just enjoyed to view all of the airport’s activities. Of all the airports I frequented, Philadelphia and Chicago (O’Hare) had my favorite observation decks.

Boeing and Airbus make more eye-pleasing airplanes and of better quality. Western aircraft manufacturing technology has always been leaps ahead of Russian technology, but they seem to be catching up. Slowly.

the IL 96 is apparently a quite nice aircraft but the most powerfull aircraft in the world is the 777 nothing can beat the power of ge90's !
