  • Episode 28: Taroko, Finally!!
    After so much build up to this part of our ride, the day(s) finally arrived. We opted to take two days in order to spend a bit more time chillin’ among the stunning mountain cliffs in this goooorgeous gorge.
    We’re also planning to make a “Taroko Tips” video for all cyclists interested in experiencing this stunning (and easily accessible) part of the world on two wheels. Subscribe and stay tuned!

    ++The Adventure: riding our bikes around a bunch of different places in this world for a year. Seeing new sights, trying new foods, meeting lots of new people, visiting old friends and generally having a swell ol' time challenging ourselves to EXPLORE MORE(!) from the saddle of a bicycle. Yay!

      Andy DerksMKKT953DI Really!! Definitely a known spot, but really wasn’t very crowded and amazing
      we could camp by ourselves (and for free!). That would never happen back home in such stunning wilderness!

      Vinaykumar Eluri Reeeeally beautiful. Next time think we’d stay another night and do more hiking and perhaps cycle a little further into the gorge (though it get crazy steep).

    WOW.....felt so disappointed that I did not ride in to the Taroko Park but only had a brief visit around the entrance area during my solo round island ride during early autumn 2017. I had made my accommodation reservation to Hualien for at 3 nights at least early next month just to see Taroko Gorge with my wife but not cycling. This will give me a good excuse to ride solo and wild camp there next time in near future from east side at Hualien to west coast across the Taroko and Mount Wuling to Taichung. You gals rock.....ride on and have safe and fun ride in this beautiful country especially for those cycling tourers from abroad.

    • @radbikeadventure
      @radbikeadventure  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes...you need to go and ride it!! You'll definiely want a road bike if going all the way to Wuling! It gets insane!! The camping was super peaceful though. And thanks Wong, we really loved our time in Taiwan!

      In Taipei I met so many cyclists who had cycled around the coast of Taiwan. Big roads and heavy traffic. It looked so boring and not fun in comparison to riding in the central hills and beautiful mountains. You should definitely go back and ride the full length of the gorge from the top down. It's a long way.

      Alex Morgan Would definitely like to do that next time. Sure we’ll be back to Taiwan some day 😉

      i pedal during my day off,
      1 place at a time,
      when i have long vacation i try the taiwan loop

    • @radbikeadventure
      @radbikeadventure  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds like a great way to do things. The loop of the 1 is not my favorite part. Definitely try to get off the main "1" route and do smaller roads. Much more interesting!

      Mark Jay, so happy to be helping you with your trip ideas! If you look at our route you can get an idea of where exactly we pedaled. I hope to have a GPX route in future for download. radbikeadventure.wordpress.com/our-current-route/

    You only rode on the easy parts of the national park ladies.

    • @radbikeadventure
      @radbikeadventure  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard Orr Yes we definitely did. We were way to loaded down to get to the very top section of the trans highway and it just didn’t make since for the loop we were doing. Next time we will have to go with less stuff!

  • @alexmorgan3435
    @alexmorgan3435 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    You only rode such a short section of the gorge. You missed out on so much.

    • @radbikeadventure
      @radbikeadventure  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex Morgan Too much gear and wasn’t on our route to cut across the island. Leaves something for the next time for sure! (Also one of us is still recovering from ACL surgery so too many steep climbs not the best...)
