Saving JD is the only correct choice for the following reasons: 1: Marcus has already lost so many, JD is the very last of his family 2: this will make JD grow in character, his recklessness caused him to drop the hammer on Settlement 2, he overcorrected on the Cog Side and it drove his friends away, then he tried to come back at the end only to lose his friend for good. Now he needs to step up as a leader, the kind Del would have wanted him to be 3: it's also a chance for JD and Kate to reconcile their relationship after their break
Yea I really don’t understand how anyone can pick Del over JD like at all. Marcus has lost quite literally everyone close to him. Multiple brothers in arms, Dom, Tai, Anya, etc. Losing JD would just be too much to put on him.
The fact that it made a conscious decision and was overriding orders shows it was not just a thing, but an individual. An object cannot disobey, it can malfunction and not work, but it cannot choose. Jack chose, Jack fought on multiple battlefields to save his friends in this moment. The one we see here and the ones going on inside his programming. In moments he defies orders which means he’s changing his code actively. Which means he could have defied orders at any time if he wanted to, but only to sacrifice himself and save his only family would he actually prove he could defy an order. Jack chose service like the other gears, but in that moment like many other gears he knew he had to make the choice the others couldn’t.
Even after the Locust were defeated years ago, it seems like the threat never went away. Now, it comes down to this. Can the new generation of gears save the earth? And damn shame Jack had to die to save everyone. I hope he comes back once more.
The COG doesn't seem to do well with long term planning or contingencies. When all the "dead" Locust became encased in that crystal, they just tossed all the bodies into deep mines, along with stockpiles of all their old weapons, then made the world forget they were there. The new Swarm was essentially given every opportunity to threaten the COG again in the future. Honestly the COG should've just dumped all the bodies into the Oceans instead.
I think whatever character we choose it’s going to haunt us later because when their necks got snapped I bet queen Reyna will resurrect them and turn him into a monster kinda like what happened in wolfenstein
I have an idea that they studio dropped the OF WAR in Gears because they werent really in a War in 4 and 5 but that shot where Kait looks over the destruction is awesome. I felt like it eas heading in the right direction and was a little disaapointed they didnt announce Gears of War 6 but regardless love the fact that were getting another entry

This could have been one of the most powerful, saddest moments in the entire franchise if they'd have just NOT PUSSIED OUT and simply killed off Cole and Paduk like they intended to. Imagine how much higher the stakes would have been for Gears 6 if they didn't get so concerned about the backlash over killing two characters that, while beloved, ultimately had no serious role to play going forward.
