    We were not sure if the ignitor was really the culprit, but decided that it was worth it to try it out. We ordered the part and my son followed your directions and replaced the ignitor. Incredible!!! My oven is working better than ever, and to think we almost spent big bucks on a technician!!! Thank you thank you thank you, your instructions are clear and easy to follow, huge savings and a working oven, we're very happy!!!

    Just fixed my Frigidaire oven today. I took your advice and ordered the same generic ignitor that you have in your video on eBay for $20 including tax and shipping. (Paypal had a special offer that gave me an extra $12 off, so ignitor cost me $8 only). I had to cut the wires off the old one to splice into the new one, but that is ok as I used to be a junior auto mechanic and have those tools. Worked like a charm. Now I have an oven again and did not fall prey to OEM ignitor markup. I rent an apartment so this was the management's problem to fix, but I did it myself if I could to save them the headache and I don't want people over at my place. With the confidence I gained, right after I also fixed a leaky toilet flapper that kept leaking water out of the toilet bowl causing it to continuously refill 50X more often than necessary. Again, management's problem, but if I can fix it myself I do it as I don't want people over here. Thanks for the help.

    Loved the instructions. You are the only one I found that shows the oven light, when finished.
    Thank you for showing that, and the importance of what “could have happened” if you don’t unplug things before servicing!
    Curious about the flames in the oven, though.
    My Fiancé’s Frigidaire Professional had a bad ignitor, too. I just fixed this, when I converted it to LP.
    Now, it looks great in our new house!
    …but, she didn’t recall flames shooting up the walls.
    Now she did say that the oven only worked briefly after she bought it.
    I used your video to try to put her mind at ease.
    So, if you’re not worried about flames, then I’m not!

    Thank you for this helpful video. It's almost like you were in my kitchen as we have the same range. Oven wouldn't heat up, all other functions normal including bright orange glow had me scratching my head. I believe what fixed it was 'rebooting' it's computer as I unplugged it to slide it out, inspect the gas lines/valve and clean around it. After plugging it back in and resetting the clock it is working fine. My daughter and I baked cookies.

    I have a frigidaire oven that needed an ignitor. For anyone that needs to know, without the ignitor fixed the gas valve will not open and the oven can't be lit using a manual pilot light. Google was misleading as it said that it can be bypassed, it can't. The stove burners worked fine while the oven did not.

BUT now, only some of the time, when my oven tries to relight to maintain temperature during baking, there is a wooshing blowtorch noise. Sometimes it will then light after a fraction of a second. Other times it continues a couple of seconds and i get nervous and turn everything off. It will eventually get over this hiccup, but i have to babysit the oven the whole time I am baking. What could cause this?

      I know it has been 8 months, but if you are still alive, the ignitor might be bent a little too far away from the burner pipe and it isn't starting at the first flow of gas so it only catches fire after enough gas has built up to reach the ignitor.

My bake ignitor was glowing but not as much as my broil ignitor which was igniting the broiler. I decided to swap them to isolate the failure. When I got them out, the broil ignitor was nice and black, almost new. The bake ignitor looked like it was burnt, a dull grey color. Worked like a charm! Now I have to go to your site and get a replacement for the broil ignitor!

    Thanks!
    My oven was a little different design, but you showed all the fundamentals so I got through the job just fine :D
    One note I might add is, at least on my oven, those door hinges are *spring loaded* and have a *lot* of force behind them. I didn't have one of the little retainers down all the way and that hinge shot flush into the door and scared the crap out of me lol It also made it harder to reinstall because I had to pry that hinge back out far enough to lock down the retainer before I could get both sides of the door hooked back in. I thought they were just some sort of unlocking mechanism, but they serve a dual role of both unlocking the hinge from the oven *and* also keeping the hinge springs in the door compressed.
    Anyway, wonderful and helpful video! :D But I gotta ask... Are all those flames coming up out of the bottom of your oven a side effect of the propane conversion or something? I've never seen flames come bursting into the oven like that. I was, like,
    🔥🧯👀 lol

    Our oven doesn't light up while the stovetop works fine. However, if we tap hard enough on the metal pipe close to the ignitor it will ignite and will work for a bit until the stove gets to the right temperature, but once the fire goes out it won't ignite again on its own. Would that still be an ignitor problem?

    Helllllppp!!! If the igniter is replaced but oven still does not bake, how can one determine whether it is a valve problem or a control board problem without wasting money on unnecessary parts???

    I have a gas stove that can do broil, but not brake. I can see sparks come from the ignitor when switched to bake. I assume the gas valve is the thing to be replaced?

    • @bensappliancesandjunk
      @bensappliancesandjunk  ปีที่แล้ว

      Uh, what? Is it a glow igniter or spark igniter? Also, is it actually releasing gas to attempt to ignite or not? There are many variables and its unlikely the gas valve.

    Hey we just switched a NG to LP. Followed instructions from another video, everything works, burners, broil works. Our ignitor for the oven glows but no flames ever start up? What is going on? are we not waiting long enough we get worried having it just run and run trying to get it lit. Like i said everything works fine, the ignitor glows, just no flames. The ignitor for the broiler seems to light the flame after about 5-10 seconds after it comes on. Would expect the same for the oven one right? A speedy reply would be lovely.

      I'd check amperage on the ignitor. Could have been going bad and something got knocked loose during the conversion.

    Hi, Bens. Are the spark plug/igniter all the same or brand specific for gas cooktop? I can see "universal spark igniter" on the internet, not sure if it can work for most cooktops. Thanks

    Our Frigidaire Oven does not work on Bake. I first pulled out the Bake igniter and tested it with 120 volts. It worked fine. However, the voltage from the relay control board measured only around 14 volts - it should be 120 volts! After testing all the relays with a 9 volt battery, my wife and I found the switching contacts all tested good! The wiring diagram shows a component on the 120Volt line called a TCO. This is a thermal cutoff switch and on our unit, I had to remove the front control panel to see it towards the front, top of the stove. Sure enough, it is an open circuit while it should be a direct short. To summarize, power comes in and travels to the TCO. From there, it travels back to the relay control board where it gets switched by a relay to a wire going to the Bake igniter! Hope this helps someone🙂

      Or, is that just how it is?

    This is probably a dumb question, but here goes: the wiring is all behind the oven, correct? Is there a way to get to it without pulling out the whole unit? I have a small galley kitchen, so any work-arounds (if they exist) would be helpful!

    • @bensappliancesandjunk
      @bensappliancesandjunk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what you need to do. The oven igniter and safety valve are both front-accessible and are usually the culprit for most of the issues. The thermometer and regulator valve need to be accessed from the rear typically, though. You MAY be able to unscrew the thermostat, pull the wire and disconnect from the front but that's going to vary from model to model.

      @@bensappliancesandjunk You're awesome, thanks for the reply! Based on your diagnostics in the video, it does seem like it's the ignitor. I am assuming I'll see the wiring set-up once I remove the bottom of the oven? I haven't done it yet, was just trying to plan accordingly. Thanks again!

      @@bensappliancesandjunk Something else I can seem to tell is what the power in and out of the board route truly is. I got with Frigidaire and they sent me the prints but both the ones that came with the oven and the ones they sent do not exactly match up to what I have. In the prints is shows like theres a K1relay that needs to close for the bake igniter but my board does not have this relay.

    I changed a valve with two sets of terminals like the one in your video. I forgot whether on one the white wire was closest to the front of the stove or the red one. On the other I forgot whether the blue was closest to the front of the stove or the white one. This video is the only images I have seen after weeks of searching that even shows a double valves wiring. I'm sure I don't have the bake and broil leads mixed up or anything. I found something that said explosion hazard if the wiring isn't correct. Any ideas where I should turn? This information doesn't seem to exist. It's a nx58k3310ss samsung stove with gas valve dg94-00449A. Thank you.
