"The Women" was a special book for me. I thought it was a faithful representation of the times. I know the main character made less than stellar decisions at times. That's PTSD though. My husband was a Marine in Vietnam, and dealt with PTSD until the day he passed. He deeply regretted some of the early choices he made before treatment, therapy, and the life perspective that comes with aging. So I did cut the main character some slack as she added baggage to her life. Loved hearing about your "almosts" for 2024. 🌻❤️
I did not know about the smut in the Bridgerton books. I started reading the first book and stopped when the smut showed up. I enjoyed it until that point and the author is very talented. I just wish she'd leave the smut out of it. Any suggestions that are similar to Brigerton that does not have the smut is appreciated.
These all sound good! The Women made it to my top list🏆 Love in the storm was just okay for me 😢I loved the beginning but the middle fell flat and so I couldn’t give it 5 stars but I am going to try more of her books!
9:50 The movie We Were Soldiers which is based off a book is a great Vietnam War read and watch. It does have language but it shows the horrors of war.
@BookLoverAmanda It stars Mel Gibson, Barry Pepper, Greg Kinnear, and Sam Elliott. It also shows an even the state side when women were getting the telegrams notifying death. It's a hard watch but so good. It's one of Wyatt's favorite movies.
So many readers have the Summer of Yes on their top books of the year and have convinced me to give it a try this summer. I'm wanting to make changes in my life this year and it seems like the best time to pick this book up.
I wasn’t going to read The Women because it sounds too intense for me but my in person book club chose it along with I Must Betray You for early this year. So here I go, probably will ugly cry, but at least I’m not reading alone!

I do feel like the Hawthorne House series by Kristi Ann Hunter is a great regency Christian series that could be an alternative to it!
