    Was waiting for the clip to come out. I want to say thank you for Smithy for talking about this and you guys for giving him a platform about it. I’ve just had my 17th Diaversery and it never gets an easier. Not many people realise the mental strain diabetes has but hearing Smithy talking about it helps immensely and hopefully gets people to have a better understanding on diabetes as a whole

    I’ve been a type 1 diabetic for 10 years now and seeing someone explain the exact things you go through especially the mental side actually made me quite emotional because not enough people know and it’s quite comforting to know that you’re not alone on the days where you’re struggling. Absolutely brilliant this

    Brilliant Adam. As the parent of a type 1 13 year-old, I can't thank you enough for raising the awareness. The burnout for a parent is bad enough, living with it must be exhausting.

    Thank you for sharing this Adam. My eldest daughter was diagnosed a month before her 2nd birthday. It was horrible at the time and completely turned our lives upside down. She's now almost 7 and absolutely thriving in life! Having the support is crucial. We have met with other parents of recently diagnosed children and have been able to offer them support in the early days. The awareness needs to be raised as a form of education to teach people about diabetes, and also the symptoms to look out for

    Late onset type 1 myself and this is the best interview I've ever seen about it. It's just a constant hum in the background of your life and it does take its toll, but because it rarely goes *very* wrong and you can still do anything you want it's hard to talk about how much of a pain it is. You know there are so many people in a worse spot. I think it's a bit different when you've known life without it too. Very much feels like two separate lives as Smithy says.

    I was diagnosed with type 1 at 18 years old in 2020. I'm pretty much used to it at this stage but it's still nice to hear other perspectives from people with more experience so I can learn from them and improve my habits going forward. The mental problems are still very much present at times but I'm so grateful to be living in the time I do with the technology we have at our disposal (especially after watching Killers of The Flower Moon!).

    I’ve lived with type 1 Diabetes for 16 years now, safe to say it hasn’t been an easy run in the slightest, however, the only piece of advice I can give is do not let it control your life. You control it.

    My mum has type 1 diabetes it’s horrible she’s had it for a few years now but when she was first diagnosed she was terrified that something would happen in the night to the point where I had to comfort her every night before she went to bed about 2 years ago she had a hypo and it literally changed my family forever knowing that there was a chance that she might wake up in the middle of the night and then be dead a few hours later I respect anyone who has it because I’ve seen how bad it can be right in front of me

    I was diagnosed 3 years ago in the middle of the pandemic 1 week after i was made redundant from a job that took me years to get, my mental health disappeared as my life in every aspect was scattered in the wind. I felt physically and mentally ruined for months and still really havent physically recovered from the amount of weight that fell off me. One thing i have gained from it is a perspective on life and others lives that i would have never previously had, its a lot easier to be understanding of anothers mental or physical problems when you yourself battle your own everyday.

    I never get near crying, but this just feels so hard. Everyone is going through so much shit in life. You never know what shit life will give you. All you can do is be ready have good people around and stop the hate on random people. There are dickheads, but still you have to ask "why?"

    This video is very relatable. There are days where you try anything and everything but nothing made your blood sugars normal. Your body is a science experiment where you constantly juggling food and activity.
    I’ve still yet to meet someone who was diagnosed with hereditary T2 diabetes from a very young age. I was 13. The stigma that society gives you for being one. They think you age so bad as a child to give yourself t2 diabetes but the reality is I could have nothing to prevent it. Yes I still have to inject insulin like T1 people. Not like I’m missing out 😂
    No matter what type it is. We all have to deal with the mental strain. So yeah this video is somewhat very relatable!

    Was diagnosed when I was 16, I’m 30 now. This may just be me, but people make it out to be the worst thing ever when they are first diagnosed. Yeah it’s a bit difficult getting used to for the first few years. But that it becomes second nature.
    The tittle is really clickbait though. Cheers for that 👍

    • @kalonwalker2891
      @kalonwalker2891 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@wasteman3259 it’s an auto-immune disease which means it’s your own body trying to kill itself. Your pancreas stops producing insulin which is a hormone that helps break down sugar in your blood. So I have to inject the insulin and right amount to survive. Where as type 2 is more common through pregnancy, lifestyle, diet etc and more. Hope this helps
