WHAT IS BREAKFAST LIKE ABOARD A VIKING RIVER CRUISE? Full Buffet Tour and Review

- I'm a big fan of river cruising and did my first one with Viking in November 2019. I did their Rhine Gateway cruise (www.vikingrivercruises.com/cr..., which took me from Basel, Switzerland to Amsterdam over eight wonderful, delicious days. I've posted a lot of videos from the trip and here's one that shows the onboard breakfast experience and breakfast buffet. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. That's one great thing about a river cruise, the staff gets to know you after a day or so, it becomes a very personal travel experience.

It's really an amazing experience, regardless of where you go. I've also done the Danube (with Gate One) and the Mekong in Southeast Asia (with Amawaterways).

Loved the buffet on the Aquvit terrace. The German style breakfast was great. Watching the river was great.

Are you traveling with Viking? Make sure you create an account for their website so you can sign up for the excursions as soon as possible as the popular ones sell out. Don't feel you need to do paid excursions, but some may be worth doing if it's things you like. Leave time to just explore on your own. Feel free to post any more questions! @@Drew-dg1qr

They do a great job, you will have a wonderful time. If you're a big drinker, check out the alcohol upgrades, although we did not do that and didn't feel like we missing out. I would also recommend reading up or watching videos about the different cities you will visit so you have some idea of things you definitely want to see / visit while you're there. @@Drew-dg1qr
As soon as this pandemic is contained, I want to take my 86-year-old mother on her last vacation.
I hope with all my heart that you can do that very soon! It's a wonderful experience and perfect for two people like that. The ship is very accessible for older people and there are many activities you can do together or she can enjoy the ship while you explore an excursion. Thank you for watching.

I would be eating so much smoked salmon and sturgeon at that buffet I would be swimming back to my stateroom. And maybe some bacon for dessert too....
It's very tough not to overeat on those cruises. Also after it's over, you feel lost, where is my huge breakfast buffet, what time is lunch, what time is dinner? It's nice to have everything presented to you like that.
