Good honest review Phil. I bought all her LPs when they came out (up to & including Aerial) and have avoided these box sets as there is little or nothing new on them (and even LESS than on some of the original releases as you correctly pointed out). Also, I don't feel the need to invest in remasters as all the originals still sound great to me. Unfortunately, it just appears to be a blatant attempt at cashing in on the 'boxed sets' market (Unlike the 'This Woman's Work' boxed set which was very good IMHO). I strongly suspect the reason why the retail price fell so much is because other fans have come to the same conclusions I did, and voted with their wallets! Friends who are also KB fans have avoided them too for the same reasons. Very Disappointing.
Hi phil,Kate is my favourite artist, I've got both these boxsets and the remastering on these CDs sound superb,but mind you Kate sounds divine anyway,a bit disappointed with certain tracks being missed as well...I'd love Kate to bring out a cd for her unreleased demos,I'm sure she's got good sounding demo's at her home.i as a fan would lap those up.... favourite kate song is ..wow..and my favourite album is never for ever .
Hi Phil thank you for this review. I stopped listening to Kate after Hounds of Love. A really good album and Running Up That Hill is fabulous. If I had a favourite lp up till then it would have to be The Dreaming - sorry! Maybe the delay in releasing material didn't help and snippets I heard here and there didn't appeal. I was going to catch up a few years ago with later releases but the fish thing was off-putting. It still is. Can't see me getting this and thank you again for showing what we have or havnt missed!
