  • Pete and Adrian of Vortex EDGE join Jimmy and Mark following a full day of working the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship as well as a classroom session around the physical, mental and legal sides of concealed carry and deadly force. The pistol is perhaps the most common firearm for people to gravitate towards first when considering a gun for self-defense, and for many good reasons. The Vortex EDGE crew goes into the importance of understanding not only how to handle and shoot a pistol, but also how to improve your skills and improve your mind to achieve a better state of readiness for real world encounters. If you’d like to learn more and find some great classes to better your own skills in person with professional instructors like Pete and Adrian, stay tuned for more info on Vortex EDGE coming soon! Also stay tuned for the next episode from this podventure where we dive into the fighting carbine. In the meantime, be smart, train as often as you can and stay safe, Vortex Nation!

The topics discussed in this series of podcasts and videos are serious and may even have significant legal and emotional ramifications. We’re all in different areas with different laws and none of the people in these videos or podcasts are professional lawyers, so don’t take anything said or done by them as 100% factual law. It will vary, and our own interpretations and/or the way we word them may not be perfect, so do not take them as instructions for how to handle a situation you may find yourself in. These episodes were created solely with the intention of giving our listeners and viewers great food for thought and the first step toward a prepared mindset to be ready for anything. They are NOT to be used as legal advice or material to reference in any sort of legal situation.
Should you wish to practice some of the things we’ve done here on your own, please exercise extreme caution as always with firearms or physical training and we highly suggest seeking professional training in a professional facility like Vortex EDGE right here at our HQ in Barneveld, WI.

Great point about the noise cancelling headphones in the store. I definitely need to break that habit.

I sympathize. Here in NJ we don't have CCW nor Open Carry. Just owning a long gun requires lots of time and paperwork, triple that for a handgun purchase. And we're restricted on what we can own and where we can use them. My self-defense "castle" ends at the end of my bedroom hallway.

As a retired officer and firearms instructor, this podcast presented some very solid info for an armed individual.

I just want to add, thanks for the video breakdown in the scroll bar. That's a rad thing that a lot of other channels should start doing.

You guys should do a winter shooting podcast covering everything than can happen and go wrong when shooting in cold weather. Scopes, mirage, barrel covers, etc.

When I go into a restaurant I immediately scan for the best place to sit that gives me the most view. With knowing everything that is going on wall to my back. It used to drive my wife nuts now she has gotten used to it

Hey Pete, what about the staccato sub compact that is a full metal frame and carries 16 rounds? Granted, it's not a $700 gun lol

I have publicly intergected my own comment hearing the "shoot untill the threat is dead" comment suggesting that is not a good idea and they should look to more informed trainers or resources such as Firearms Legal Protection or USCCA
Sidenote: get carry insurance how much is your freedom worth. Also use escalation of force if you carry a gun carry pepper spray. Not every occurrence warrants it's usage however not ever situation warrants a gun

If you harm someone by misuse of a fire extinguisher, or any other tool, you may or may not go to prison for it. I'm fed up with gun snobs trying to convince others that only trained ninjas and other deadly soldiers are to be trusted with firearms. If a non-ninja saves a life with a firearm, will it still count as a life saved? I am not going to train-up as a ninja, it ain't gonna happen.
