Personally Im would not mind watching a podcast on slugs🤷♂️. Also another podcast suggestion would be history of each type of firearms (shotguns, bolt action rifle, semi auto rifles, and pistols) through the present and maybe cover evolution of those guns and the general improvements that have been. Also maybe where each host see the future of those guns going🤷♂️. Just a thought for a few podcast suggestions for you guys.
The NSSF survey isn’t the only survey ever done. I live in Alaska and there is very good data whether it be waterfowl or raptors that lead poisoning occurs more often during hunting season etc. Love the channel though. Great conversation.
Over sized bores on shot guns and not "back bored", they are "over bored"... Back boring is a process for resetting and protecting the crown of a rifle.
@lwgsl agreed, I keep my self defense shotgun loaded with 12 gauge #4 buckshot magnum shells. Thats essentially 41, 24. caliber pellets. I cant imagine any person or animal walking away from that.
1:09:50 Brass height doesn't matter... it's 100% cosmetic... In the past, it was a way to ID heavy Vs. lite loads, but has never performed any function beyond that. It's the same as the color of the hull. You can pick one just because you like the way it looks, or to differentiate between your loads... If you guys are going to give out info and advise, you should probably dig a hair deeper than "my uncle's friend told me when I was 12"... just sayin...
Enjoying shotguns more as im growing older always have loved my rifles. I own 3 shotguns now a side by side .410 , a lever action 12ga28" shot gun and a straight pull pistol grip 12ga20" shottie. Always go full choke no. 4 birdshot 2 3/4 inch high brass for rabbits and hare out to 70 meters. I am short and the .410 and 20"12ga fit me way better than the 12g with the 28 inch barrel but that's good for the longer field shots. I have a stoeger and two Adler guns. Don't hunt birds only rabbits and foxes. Atm got no.2 ssg buckshot for foxeswithin fifty meters.
Down in Louisiana only things we can't shoot lead at is ducks and geese everything else is fair game. I pretty much shoot 2 3/4" high brass #6 or #7 lead shot for rabbit and squirrels. 3" #4 or #6 hevi-shot for ducks, geese and turkeys. 2 3/4" low brass #7 1/2 for doves and 3" 00 buckshot 15 pellet for coyotes. None of those combos will let you down but we don't have any pheasant or grouse down here and those are birds I've always wanted to go hunt.
My dad before he passed gave me a single shot 10 gage the barrel is full chocked. I don’t hunt birds. Outside of maybe deer hunting, I’m not sure what to use the gun for. That gun kicks harder that any gun I own, I hate shooting it.
The lead shot legislation was passed because of 1 bird, the California Condor a carrion eating bird in 1990. Its success has been negligible as lead levels in the birds hasn't seen a drop thru the 2010s. However they have since banned lead in all hunting ammo in California in 2013, so maybe it will change. The condors have been brought back in numbers by captive and wild breeding from 22 in 1988 to over 504 in 2019. Lead levels in other birds were negligible .
33:47 yep, painfully obvious that you don't know anything about shot sizes and didn't bother to take 30 seconds to look it up.... #4 buck and 0000 buck are not even remotely close to the same thing... one is 0.240" and the other is 0.380"...
12 gauge shotgun: my favorite subject. Only gun I need. I have shells for squirrel up to Cape buffalo.

That's a fantastic suggestion thank you!!

There is a TTT, or at least used to be. Remington nitro steel although I haven't seen it in close to 20 years
My defensive shotgun, Remington 870, is loaded with #1 buck
I like #4 (less risk of over penetration), but to each his own.

Only had one Winchester shell ever in non-firing condition in all my years of competition shooting 🤷♂️
That particular popular auto shotgun of the day wouldn't happen to be an 1100 would it?

I've heard the same comment on shot column length for using 28 guage for wingshooting versus 12 gauge.

“Big picture guy” went by way to easy...it def deserved a chuckle.
Someone let Ryan know: heigTH is NOT a word. @ 1:01:30
I bet you’re a blast at the range…

She said you whipped out a snubby then had an accidental discharge.
He keeps saying "intensive purposes" as well instead of for all "intents and purposes".
But yeah if that's the worst thing he does...........

Will a rifled choke enable a smoothbore to shoot sabots effectively?

Great show!
Where did all the single shot break action 12ga's go?
Scatter guns are most versatile.
It's just hard to believe these guys eat that much bird.
Ya done messed up A-A-Ron!
4x6 duplex
Wait so if a shorter shot column is better why not go with a 1 3/4 mini shell or atleast compare side by side

The old 410 bore is technically a 36 gauge...
410 is36
#4 buck is not 4 ought buck.
Theres a triple aught buck im sure theres a quad aught buck. 😂😂
.410 is 67 gauge!
For wing shooting, don’t look at the barrel. Stay focused on the target and train for the correct lead.
Hate to be the guy cause he said it right but most people actually pronounce it say-bow its not right but thats how most people in america say sabot
870 TAC-14 Arm Brace Hornady Home 00 buck....oh wait its a firearm not a shotgun.
.410 is a 67 gauge
no 36
