Marc-Andre Leclerc is a man who knows a thing or two about how to swing an ice axe. During his time in Patagonia he has achieved some absolutely incredible climbs, capped off earlier this year with a solo climb of Cerro Torre. No stranger to solo climbing, Marc-Andre has also racked up an impressive catalogue of free solo ascents in his native Squamish as well as numerous other locations around the globe. We caught up with Marc-Andre when he was taking a break from his climbing shoes and mountaineering boots at the Arc'teryx Alpine Academy. Check out the video to hear him discuss his time in Patagonia, the Andes and how he got into climbing.

I just watched the documentary and my heart is breaking. I'm glad he died doing what he loved, but I'm so sad for B. Her guilt of not being there really touched me. I hope she can feel whole again...but I doubt it. they shared a truly beautiful and unique way of life and he was a true beacon of light and joy. He is what the world needs more of. Rest in peace Marc Andre.

Marc Andre was simply the best of what he did. Nobody could even come close to the achievements he's made. The most humble human being ever. Didn't care if anyone knew about a single achievement he did. He didn't care about the disease of social media "look at me and what i did" he actually despised it. He just wanted to climb and it's awful he's gone he is a different and special breed of human being that we have so few of. I will always be inspired by you marc andre! you are a true legend!

The great thing about Marc is that he wasn't interested in documenting his accents, he didn't care for it. He wanted the adventure for himself and only himself. He would solo climb really big mountains and then do it again for the video footage IF he decided to do it. What I find really sad is that there is no chance of retrieving the bodies of Marc and his climbing buddy Ryan Johnson. He is and always will be a legend.

I just saw THE ALPINIST (now it's Dec 2021) and I watched it 3 times in a row. Marc Andre didn't compromise ANYTHING for anyone. He ate ever meal as if it were his last, he loved Brett, and was the BEST at what he did. It's hard to put into words, but there's a Jesus element to his story. His lesson to us was the same, to love life, treat others well, and carry the message. He is myth and legend now.

Marc almost seems mythical to me. In the best ways. He died doing what he loved and was unfortunately never recovered and literally became one with the climb and mountains. It’s a painfully beautiful thing in many ways and I cannot help but to think of what more incredible things he would have accomplished because of what he had already done in such a short amount of time. I hear this a lot but I have to say I disagree. That documentary showed that when he was on the mountains, he only wishes that he was with his girlfriend. Then after completing the various free solos he would do, what he valued most and appreciated more was spending time with his girlfriend.
What he loves most was his girlfriend, even more than he loved climbing.

Watched this inspiring and moving documentary. Marc Andre Leclerc lived his life to the full and with a passion. He understood the risks involved but was true to himself. For me i felt a huge sense of affinity for Marc...as if i knew him.. there was a more than a touch of a preacher about him .His soul was so advanced it resonated love and peace to everyone around. The scene with "heavy duty" was beautifully spiritual, even with a hula hoop he resonated peace calm and love. There was a strong spiritual aura about him and i was emotionally upset at the end. I do believe he was some type of spiritual guide , a sort of teacher in this world. Whether you think he was fatalistic or not,Marc Andre Leclerec was clearly highly intelligent, eccentric, but as his mother said at the end he lived life on his terms with a passion. How many of us can say that. He had the courage and passion to follow his dreams where most of us do not. He lived a full life of his 25 years. The quality of his life and the lives he touched when witnessing the oupouring of love and respect at the end was incredibly moving . For me It is this that really counts . the love and affection that you are held in at the end of one's life . Rest easy Marc Andre Leclerq. your short human life was long in love and devotion from others.

I think his friends were enthusiastic about doing an adventure, the trek he did was way below his skill level, which is the irony.
14 peaks is pretty good at showing the unpredictability
of weather windows, the Sherpas could have easily died at any time during the
making of the film. The lead climber was under pressure to film and he even said away from the group in the film, he thought success was 50/50 on K2, he had no idea if he and the group would die, but he celebrated
before and after the climb .
      14 peaks is pretty realistic
the man was special forces he is no joke

I thought it was kind of stupid he died in an avalanche, fun easy climb with friends , being as he sent sick ice walls on a regular basis, but he never failed on all his daring technical climbs , come to think of it maybe it's better that way, he was just treking with buddies. He was an artist and lives in the imagination of many
