I skipped lunch after golf for most of a season to save for my current Scotty Select Fast Back. My best club for sure, so I have no desire to replace it.
After having a Quintic fitting session and tried Scotty C’s, Odyssey’s, Evenroll and lots more, I now have a SeeMore centre shafted putter with Stability shaft and Rosemary grip....NEVER been happier or holing more putts than before. I’ll also bet most people do not really know which style of putter is best for them with regards to their swing to create a more fluid repeatable stroke...so, yes, Scotty putters do look lovely but more important is to get correctly fitted by an independent fitter, not an affiliated one! You’ll never regret it and it’s about the cost of a dozen ProV1 balls!
skipped lunch for 6 months during work to buy the Special Select Newport 2. It is timeless, elegant and classic. Best club in my bag besides my t100s irons.
Typing this as I watch the video...recently had a putting lesson and was recommended I switch to a blade after 20 years with a mallet. Wasn't in love with the feel of the 2018 Scotty with an insert but tried the 2020 Newport 2.5 @ 34" and loved it. Fortunate to get my hands on a 1/500 and one putted the last five holes last Saturday.
I currently use the Scotty Cameron Select Newport 2. The previous version. If I were to change I would use the same. love the look and the feel it gives me on the green.
I will be keeping my old Squareback 2 in the bag. Went through a putter fitting with Club Champion Golf. We changed the lie, loft, and weight all to better fit my stroke. Plus added some custom touches.
The new special select range hasn't come out in NZ yet but my wife brought me a Scotty for my 40th. I went with the Newport 2. Only played 9 holes with it and I love it. Feels so much nicer than my spider blade putter. I would never spend that kind of money myself but was a lovely present. I'm a high handicap golfer, will it make me hole more putts......no. but it looks and feels amazing
Love my Scotty, Nick’s a top guy, showed me where my existing putter was wrong for me and fitted me for a Phantom X8.5 that I bought a couple of weeks later from my pro! I learnt so much on that fitting day!👍🏼👍🏼
Just bought my first Scotty. But when you have a video titled, "Which Scotty Cameron should you buy in 2020", the talking points should vary between each line. I think the proper title for this video should have been, "Let's talk about the Newport."
I'm a lefty, so my choice in Scotty Cameron Special Select is really limited. I can only chose between Special Select Newport 2 and Special Select Del Mar. I'm currently gaming a 2016 Select Newport 2, but would like to see if the Del Mar could add something (not extra strokes) to my putting - unfortunately none of the retailers in Denmark have the left handed version in shop.
Just looking for a new putter and I think I've found the Flowback 5 34'' work well for me. I am a straight back and forward stroke and I feel the balance is spot on with the face balance works really well.
@@kylethekkek8163 yeah idk if it’s the tooling they used for the rail but being a commander size I think the rails different than a full size 1911 like one notch shorter.
I have an old newport 2 and never liked the inserts...UNTIL I tried my 2018 Fastback. I love it. So much so, it took out my BB8 Bettinardi which I also love.
First off, I was fitted for and bought a centre shaft Scotty, I love it and wouldn’t part with it, but,,,,,, I needed a second putter for my rough winter half bag so I looked for a cheap centre shaft putter just to give me a similar set up and found a Cleveland model brand new at £60. Here’s the rub, from a feel and accuracy point of view I can’t really tell the difference.
I was just at the golf shop thinking I wanted a Newport 2.5 but left thinking I liked the Newport 2 better. I’m not a fan of the of the new Pistolini grip though. I like the feel of the Matador grip much better.
A lot of people think these putters are expensive and there’s a lot of truth to that. You use your putter at least twice as often as your driver and it will last a lot longer. I bought my SC Studio Design 1.5 in 2002/3 (?). So whilst it was expensive it has lasted me almost two decades. The only reason I’m considering buying another is so that I can send it back to be refurbished and I can have a spare. SC putters are all milled rather than cast and in order to keep high quality control standards they are made in the US (rather than being manufactured in China for example, where the labour would be cheaper). Save up and treat yourself to one at Christmas; it will last you decades! The confidence and feel you get is irreplaceable.
Love my Odyssey but dream of a Newport 2...and this one looks awesome. Always gone to a blade as other shapes don't suit my eye. The Newport 2 is the mutts 👍👍👍⛳👌
I'm trying to keep an open mind with golf clubs out of my price range. Would I love a Scotty Cameron? Yes. Would I pay for one? If I did, then I'd have to go with something restored by Chris Finch.
I have two Scotty Newport’s, an original oil can “Art of Putting” Newport & a Studio Select Newport, which one goes in the bag depends on the weather..! Neither have alignment lines so I’ll be trying the new Newport and Newport 2 & 2.5, to see if the extra weight and alignment help my stroke accuracy. 🤞🏻 I need a new Newport..! Scotty N+1 😀
Steve Johnson I play at Haddington GC, East Lothian, I was fitted for a Scotty Cameron late last year at Craigielaw GC where the Scottish Titleist National Fitting Centre is based and I got to try them out! I ended up buying a Phantom X8.5 through my pro, not on the day of the fitting! People will quite happily fork out £500 on a driver for 15 or so hits but not £300 on a putter for 30 or so(hopefully less) putts! I don’t smoke or drink and wanted to improve so made the sacrifice! It’s up to individuals to choose!
Love these putters, Newport 2.5 I think would be my choice. I will have a look may wait a while hoping for a price drop. However my favourite scotty products for quite a while. Great review thanks for your efforts
There’s no putter that can be better than my 2 Ball blade with a 3.0 Superstroke Slim grip that I’ve been burying putts with since 2002......I love watching my friends waste their money on putters that do nothing for them vs. get a putting lesson....You can either putt or you can’t....Practice makes perfect...
Premium clubs are all very expensive, golf can be expensive, no putter holes a putt its the person moving it that does that personally I'll invest in me getting better being a better putter.. then I might change the bat, if you want a scotty and it makes you believe you'll hole more putts go for it.
The Scotty Special Selects & Odyssey SL Black putters look great... When are you going to do a video on the new Spider S putter... Nearly time to choose my weapon for this season
total marketing trick for me too exspensive just pro golfers inflating prices make a light putter with space age materials and then put weights in it just make a putter with a heavier head job done. any putter with a nice grip will do the job as feel is so subjective
I would use the one that I got free because I won a drawing a TH-camr put on. Other than that I couldn't bring myself to pay the asking price no matter how great they are.
Traded my 2018 newport 2.5 for a special select 2.0 with plumber neck. I bought the 2018 thinking it was my forever putter but didnt like the inconsistency of the insert. Enter 2020 traditional one piece head. Thanks Scotty
Just spent £65 on a second hand mint condition Nike Method Converge putter and it is superb. A fraction of the cost and for me a high handicapper worth every penny. Could not justify the cost of a Cameron and dont get the hype to be honest.
So I bought the Special Select Squareback 2. It was my first Scotty and my first “blade” putter. Although it’s actually a mid-mallet, to me it’s still a blade considering I’ve only played mallets. So after putting at work for a day, I just couldn’t get comfortable making a good strike. I’d imagine because I try to be straight back straight through and that stroke just didn’t work with that putters toe hang. So I sold it on eBay 😐, only took a 150$ hit though. Lesson learned, stick with a mallet and don’t get enticed by a pretty blade.
They are the best but HUGELY expensive here is Aus. I have fallen in love with the 2020 SS Fastback 1.5, it suits my eye and stroke. BUT I have what I consider to be the best small mallet I have ever putted with at the moment the XXIO milled Steele. Feels the same, looks great but about $200 cheaper. I’ll probably get another couple of years and buy the SC Fastback 1.5 when there is a used one available, unless someone wants to offer me fair value for the XXIO.....😜

If you haven’t owned a Scotty Cameron go and buy one! By far the best putter you will buy and worth every penny! Really liking the new Newport.

James out here spitting pure fire😂😂
I got one this year for my 50th birthday, had an oddessy 2 ball previous, has changed my putting entirely....worth the $

Without a doubt I would use the Newport 2!

Scotty Special Select Newport 2 will be in my bag very soon
As a lefty we're usually shafted option wise by Scotty. But at least the NP2 is nice.
I game the 2014 Newport 2, will probably never change, but if I do it would be to the JT Phantom 5.5 that is coming out soon.

Is it the Huntington Beach
Still got my ti3 sole stamp james best putter scotty has made
I picked up a American Heritage III flange for a bargain and just love it.
Got a 2019 for Christmas and love it, its not the putter fault anymore :)
I was just at the golf shop thinking I wanted a Newport 2.5 but left thinking I liked the Newport 2 better. I’m not a fan of the of the new Pistolini grip though. I like the feel of the Matador grip much better.
I have two Scotty Cameron putters. Both are 2016 Mallets. They are the same except one's been through the custom shop and the other hasn't.
Newport 2 always a classic timeless putter
Love my Newport Studio 2 - 2 x 20g weights heel/toe - perfect £300 money well spent - best putter ever!!
I would love to own a Scotty but unfortunately they are out of my budget but you never know one day
I would go Newport 2 , another 1st class video

Even watching this made my credit balance shiver😂😂
Dom's Vibranium Bicep 😂😂😂😂

Who as a “ club” golfer would ever get the chance to try out all these.
Also the majority of golfers are priced out of buying these.

There are fitting events up and down the country Steve
which country, you have world wide viewers.
matt smith most country’s, Titleist are a world wide brand. Have you checked with your local pro?
Phantom X5.5!!!! Was fitted for it in October
Have a "thing" for the Del Mar/Newport 3 head style, but the Phantom X12.5 has a nice, stable feel, with slight toe-hang to boot.
😍
I’ve only just supplemented my fantastic circa 62No.1 with an absolutely stunning bullseye 33/350 flange
Quite liking the look of the Del Mar but quite different to the current gamer Phantom 8.5...
looking forward to buying one probably be the Newport 2 , But off to the gallery in August for a fitting :-)
Isn't the text in relief on the face too big, is it? I mean, it seems almost in the center of club face. What do you think?
Great vid James, thanks. Either Newport 2.5 or Fastback 1.5.
Using the Newport Special Select.
None as I am keeping my beloved scotty so don't need a new one, but they do look stunning
None sorry James prefer centre shafted putter . Great review though as usual

La Sella is such a lovely course.
Won a Newport 2 in a facebook raffle. Will have to decide between that and the 2018 square back I won as well
Why are you not talk about arc in the stroke with Scotty putters. I want a scotty blady putter but they havent a face balanced option?
Just put my order for a newport 2 35 inch.
Another Good one James ,
I the Theo e with straight shaft to the head ,I will try one .

The Scotty Special Selects & Odyssey SL Black putters look great... When are you going to do a video on the new Spider S putter... Nearly time to choose my weapon for this season
Something with plenty of toe hang for me.
They look so much better without that insert
How are those adidas shoes James?
Very nice mate! But get half a size bigger if you go for them. I found them snug
Another great video thx James. Can you test it against the new mizuno m-craft? Would love to know if the scotty is worth the extra money.
Newport 2.5... can’t afford it but I’m gunna do it

Special select blowback 5. 34" LH

I’d like to see a vid on regular Scotty vs ⭕️ T. I realize there’s no difference but what does the data say!

I purchased the 2.5 and love it.
The two with the "wings" feel incredible, both off the face and in terms of stability. But at that price... iv gone for a Spider X
argh I just want to see the Newport vs the Newport 2 heads.. every video seems to only show the 2 style.

Scotty Concept X
None when you have odessey 😄
Scotty who? All about the Evnroll baby!
I tried a few Scotty Camerons at American Golf and finally went for the Wilson Staff Infinite West Loop for £80.
The Rolex of putters ridiculously overpriced & used by the majority of high handicapper who couldn't hit a barn door but hey looks good in the bag
They are the best but HUGELY expensive here is Aus. I have fallen in love with the 2020 SS Fastback 1.5, it suits my eye and stroke. I mean asking someone to subscribe should mean something. it should be a tradeoff for essentially such good content that subscribing is a no-brainer. Even as far as content, I wouldn't say this was any different to anyone else's. It was just an introduction to the Newport range dressed up in tech speak, not a review or a decent comparison.
I got excited for a moment when you started talking about the different necks thinking that you would give us some valuable info about how one neck has more offset than another, and what does that do to the toe hang or the weighting. Perhaps i thought you would tell me what type of golfer would suit a model with a bigger sweet spot, and what the drawbacks were to features like plumbers neck. But you didnt go into anything like that.

If you want subscribers, re- introducing people to what putters there are in a line ain't the way to do it. You want subscribers to flock to your channel? Be like TXG and give some actual useful information that's different from everyone else. Give the viewer information that will guide purchasing. Your viewer wants to buy clubs and they want information that their golf retailer can't or won't tell them. They want info that will give them confidence in their purchase and not lead them to a mistake and buyer's regret. Anyone who provides that, especially if they are exclusive at it, is going to get all the subscribers they can handle. You dont even have to ask for it. They will subscribe because they trust you and because everyone else is doing a bang average job at it.
