I am just starting out and would love a goldfish as a pet for my daughter but I'm getting so many different opinions.
I've purchased a good 120 litre tank thinking that would be fine for a goldfish to live its life in. But I keep seeing how that might not be the case and I seem to be in-between a rock and hard place at the moment any advice would be great

Bey! A 120 liter tank is a great option for a goldfish when it's young, but it can be a bit smaller for them.when they get bigger, that said, there are some types like pearlscales that don't grow.as big and move.slower that could do really well in there, putting together a video on this at the moment, and I'll be showing what full grown golsfish look like in a number of fifferent sized tanks so that may help provide a real view of what they would look like in there, and I have a 120 liter there so I'll be using one of those I the comparison for sure! A tank like that would be a great way to start off in the hobby, and because goldfish last for years if they're looked after, there's always the potential to upgrade in the future if that works for you at that point too!!

what temperature is your pond? my goldfish pond has gone down to 8 degrees Celsius and they aren't moving much. Im worried that they might not survive.

Mine is up around 10C at the moment in the unheated pond, but my heated ponds still at 16C! Its highly like the temps will take a plunge as its been an exceptionally mild February so far! What type of goldfish do you have in the pond?

@@TheJoyofAquascaping thanks for the reply, i have some ranchus and shubunkins, i know the ranchus arnt ideal for colder water but i notice you had some fancies in your pond that looked happy and active.

@@mearns89 the ranchus may struggle a bit, I have all my fancies in the heated pond just to make sure they don't have to deal with colder temperatures, I've seen ranchu struggle with even small temperature drops when kept outside in the summer, so I'd be cautious with them for sure, might be worth bringing them back inside in and aquarium for the next few weeks, but the shubunkin should be absolutely fine out there, they're built like tanks!! 😂😂😂
