A great idea doing the headlands and high traffic areas to loosen up the compaction yea Brillion makes heavy duty equipment well built to last. Yea it looks like it pulls real hard. Love your videos I grew up in Illinois we raised beef cattle fed them out for market I miss all of it alot of hard work but it was fun fall harvest was much favorite time of year filling the silos still filled the crib with ear corn. Then combined the rest of the corn and beans hauled to the elevator I was 13 years old hauling grain to town in the truck I'm 68 you could do that back in the 60s without a drivers license lot different today anyway keep up with the great videos I never miss one!
We broke a 30 acre pasture up. Going 18 inches deep and was shocked the following year with the amount of regrown grass. Our land in northern Michigan is very similar to yours, with the hilly terrain. So the other pasture we only did the bottom half and stayed off the crowns of the hills. Worked great. I guess it’s similar to the drum roller you guys demonstrated but I would be curious to see what would happen if you guys broke up the bottom half of one of your pastures and see if you thought it helped. Looks like your brother takes good care of his equipment, just like you do. Good views, seeing things from all angles, but the one where you drove over the camera really showed how the land moves with that machine. Thank you

you can see the ground lifting with that , I am a big believer in using these machines , and yes I agree with getting the frost down in the soil does so much good . We use to always tried to plough in the Autumn and let the frost get into it so in the spring it made it so much easier to work the soil
We’ve got a 7 shank on a 8320r,360 engine horse on 800 duals, and on our 120 acre field we have a path that goes strait across the middle across the direction of travel/rows and when I subsoil and I hit that middle path it will completely drag my down to a complete stop with all 6 tires spinning with diff lock on if I don’t lift a bit. Makes a huge difference subsoiling. Doing headlands like that definitely helps even for cover crop. We usually mainly do it after grass harvest before we plow for corn but befor cover crop is beneficial for sure too

That 7810 doesn't seem to mind taking the Brillion for a walk! I think it's the last really great tractor JD made. Solid HP, solid power to the ground. I have run a 2wd 7800 with a 3 shank subsoiler, your 7810 with 4wd and duals didn't seem to complain. Great video!

I always wonder why more farmers don't deep rip once & awhile. I know our neighbor hires us to custom rip his soybean fields each year. He rotates corn, soybeans, winter wheat/rye/triticale, oats/peas, hay.
When I was farming I bought a Tebben subsoiler. 3 shank, pulled it with a AC 7000 and in heavy clay it wasn't enough, wished I had more hp. and 4wd. The shanks had a curve to them and you could see it lifting the soil right behind the wheels. Did a good job and made a big difference in drainage, ran it as deep as it would go, 18", as long as I could pull it.
We never have run a subsoiler however due to compaction we traded off a 220 hp tractor on a 8420 for more power to pull a 5 shank chisel plow in the heavy clay in east central Wisconsin just to be able to break the hard pan. We no till wheat on corn stubble and beans are no till but corn ground is all chisel plowed. 20” this year hopefully get down to 24” next year. Semis really pack the ground when the choppers come in to take off the silage we grow for a big farm.

im a believer in ipping i think it helps especially in the heavier soils we have some tough down here in mo it will also let moisture in when heavy rain periods

You have produced a very detailed video. Subsoiling is a thing that wasn’t even considered when farming with Horses. Even Deere’s antiquated two cylinder Tractors couldn’t pull something like this. The modern Deere upper 7 series and 8 series Tractors combined with the Ferguson System can do this effectively. Fergieman
dont think that ripping that deep well cause wear and tear to the tractor. and if you have that much power to rip at that speed you obviously arent using it to its full potential
When are you going to get Case tractors and get rid of those John Deere machines. After all John Deere is leaving the USA moving to Mexico and is leaving you. Trade in those John Deere machines for Case a REAL USA company that is FOR the farmer not against like Deere has become.

We had a 7800 when a was young. Always impressed at how well that thing pulled. Never would think it would pull well by looking at it.

Brillion built everything heavy. Equipment built to last. A lot of the neighbors really look at Dad's Brillion drill but he isn't selling.... yet.

When we farmed down south we ran a subsoiler every fall.We grew tobacco it helped a lot.

Freezing and thawing does help. I have never used a subsoiler but I figure it'll work.

Working this tractor this hard, I am willing to say it will start eiser in the cold weather as you pushed out any carbon build up in the engine .
Usually a pretty good workout for the tractor too.
We had a neighbor who pulled and 8 row and strip tilled fertilizer with it. I liked the theory. It took a LOT of power and fuel though.

According to Tractor Data your 7510 has 101 horses on the drawbar. Ya the 7510 pulled hard but it was moving right along alright at 5 MPH.
were we raise soybeans in the midwest and use mostly no till the soybeans sure mellow out the ground
