I have truly missed the boat videos. I started watching you for that reason it would be nice to see more boat videos and sailing. Even day trip weekend trips would be nice.
Agreed! Love your channel but if I’m being honest, I too started watching for the sailing. Unfortunately I might only watch your channel 10% of what I use to.
SAILING, Good, Bad, and Ugly! The name of the channel says it all. Going with you weekly from island to island, resort to resort was an adventure most of us can not enjoy. You two opened that door and shared your hearts with all of us. My vote is to keep sailing! But I can also respect that you have other dreams to enjoy and accomplish. As you get older, you will see things drift through your fingers. Grab what you can when you can, it is all about living life. The boat was more of an adventure for all of us, but life is up to the two of you. In any case, thank you!
I strongly agree that I like your channel much better when you are sailing rather than on land in Puerto Rico. Do what is best for you both, but certainly enjoy the sailing better! 😀
The best 12 yeas of my life was living aboard my Hunter 34 and sailing the Great Lakes. Marriage and blending a family changed that but I have no regrets. I will say my life was much simpler then but now I have a four car garage that I can barely walk in and a 2000 sq ft home that requires way too much maintenance. Your sailing adventures intrigued me and captivated my sailing senses. I wish you luck in moving ashore . What will happen to you I suspect is what happened with me. I kept the boat for a few years when I moved ashore and found myself hardly using it because my new life ashore kept me busy. I already hear it in your comments about the animals and having to tend to them. I put my boat up for sail after three years. It was getting dirty, unused and just not the same. Boats are a lot of work. But fun work. Houses not so much. Pooba I remember part of a poem that went something like this: "Houses are badly built boats so firmly aground that you cannot think of moving them. They are definitely inferior things, belonging to the vegetable not the animal world, rooted and stationary, incapable of gay transition. . . . The desire to build a house is the tired wish of a man content thenceforward with a single anchorage. The desire to build a boat is the desire of youth, unwilling yet to accept the idea of a final resting-place." -Arthur Ransome
Boat owners use their boats one day out of the week as everyone works for a living.. You chose to use your boat in that manner and thats the only way you think of using it but thats just you.. You could still choose to go on boat trips once or twice a year if you like but nearly every boat owner uses the boat once or twice a week maybe to catch a fish for dinner
I’m a single farmer in Oklahoma raised in California. I am in the process of selling everything and buying a boat. I’ll buy your boat and you can sail it anytime while I watch your garden and animals!! I’m 60 years old and love PR and the Caribbean for food scuba ocean gelato scenery and most of all the people! Been all over on land and scuba. Let’s talk!! One Love!!
So here is a reality check for you both to think on......those of us who live in the "traditional" world, work from Monday to Friday. We get everything prepped Friday morning to spend the weekend on the boat and head to the boat Friday after work. This is our normal late spring, summer, early fall routine. You don't need to focus on ALL OR NOTHING. Sailing an hour around the island is still a beautiful trip the 1st or fortieth time. That boat is an easy way to get a nice break/change for a day or 4. Even when the Mattie Jr's. start showing up. Baby's are super flexible, it's parents who become nervous ninnies. The house/ranch will become the thing you want a break from in the not too distant future. Keep the boat. Use it a little now so you can use it alot later.
I have to admit that I was a weekly viewer for all of your sailing adventures, when you guys did the boat overhaul work I was so excited to see where you might end up next. But when you decided to become land lubbers it really took the magic of this channel out of it for me. I was convinced that you both would get many years more of enjoyment from the boat after all of that hard work. In the end though we all love you both and want you to go after whatever it is that makes you happy. I'm still scratching my head though, why do the work to just leave the boat to float & rot?
I agree 100. I watched all the videos from the beginning. Enjoyed Matts humor and Kristen's obvious love for him and the life they created from basically nothing. I watched all the rebuild thinking they should have sold it and gone to a catamaran. The anticipation of following the sailing adventure further after the rebuild was always anticipated to be soon soon soon...then land purchase. I have not watched many, but some of the homestead. I like both of them, but I am not interested in the building a channel now around a homestead type channel...No thanks. I will check-in every-so-often. Animals are game stoppers on traveling the world and enjoying a little freedom. Goats and cats and farm animals...No thanks.

You guys should do a haul out at a place you can afford to store it for awhile. That way your not rushing into making a decision you might regret later. Then after you’ve got yourself established on land, decide if you still want to fit sailing into your new lifestyle.
I Agree BUT ! Then other expenses and things happen when it’s dry docked. Wind, sand systems are in use and that creates problems $$$. You already PAID Your Dues Now ENJOY IT ❤I have by boat since it was new this January it is 35 years old and I ❤️ it. So KEEP it make it a Special Occasion to use it, as you said you need to always do something’s when you aren’t there daily. So every three weeks Take a week on Your First Dream And Enjoy yourself. And of course make a video $$ so all of us get to see you guys enjoying yourself 😎Then when you have your baby! You can have a family while sailing 😊with them . That’s what I did after we had our third and last child ❤️but I had a small Cabin Cruiser and kept it in the water at a marina on Lake Erie in Ohio. All summer we went on Friday am, sleeped on board ate on the dock area. It was inside the biggest harbor on the southwest shoreline.God Bless you Both ❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏 NC USA 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
@richardrumplik7023 exactly, selling the boat would be a huge mistake! You'll never get back what you put into it! Plus, you need something to get away for a while with, the problem with dry docking is everything immediately starts to deteriorate and things get stolen! Boats are ment to be in the water!
Started watching your channel years ago for the boating adventures, whatever they might have been. My wife and I looked forward to your videos every week. You both added so much enjoyment to our weekends and we miss the boating videos. Although we're not enjoying the 'farm' adventures as much as the boating, we have continued to watch. Remember, always do what is best for you two.
Hello Everyone Works for a living! and that's why they do daily once a week use of their boat. Maybe they may do an extended trip if they can work it out but its all about daily once a week use at a time
Doing a raised or container garden is the easiest, most efficient and effective way to grow stuff and there is a ton of good info on TH-cam! As Always, May God Bless you and yours!
Definitely prefer you guys back on the boat. Sticking with the on land stuff but not nearly as entertaining. You should keep the boat and make it fit into your on land mayhem.😊
As a power boat Owner who lives on land with a house and pets, I look forward to my boating trips! There is nothing like being on the water for a week at a time several times a year for me! Keep the boat!!!
Thank you for the update on the boat. I'd say give yourself at least a year to settle in before even thinking about selling it. Love the idea of letting friends/family be blessed by it and keep the hull growth at bay!
Maybe it's best they keep it for themselves for at least a year like you said. It's been my experience that people don't take care of things if they didn't put their sweat and tears into. A haul out might be a better option at this time.
Keep the boat! You live in PR and have amazing sailing right from home base! Its a great boat and you put so much time and effort fixing it up. Charter it out enough to pay for someone to handle the maintenance on it so it stays in good condition.
Keep the boat and make time for it. Absolutely! Fewer animals. If you put in the time to re-home cats you will make new friends along the way. Always good to meet new people.
I like the sailing, that is what got me watching your chnl. BUT I like your great little farm because it reminds me of what I did 30 years ago. So I’m good either way. I go with almost everyone. Keep the boat. Maybe try to lease it to someone you know well enough to tryst with it. If nothing else, use the lease money to make sure all upkeep is done on the boat. You could limit the distance the lessor could travel without specific permission. That way, the boat gets exercised and taken care of and you can either pocket the lease money, or again use it as part of upkeep to make sure it is done. Either way you keep the boat with no out if pocket expense. Win win situation.
Wow, I only found your content once you guys started on the land, I can see why you would be concerned with Kristen falling for the boat, it's really beautiful.❤
Glad to see you two on the boat again! I hope you are able to make time for sailing (once a month or two) and then make some income off of it those weeks you don't want to use it. Best...
What a wonderfull day (Dia de Reyes )to revisit the DD. Life will be as complicated having the DD, the farm, the animals, the mariage, the children... having a good balance and taking time to enjoy your passion requiers a good logical planning as long as it springs from your emotional compass. Take the advise you can work with and your confortable with but dont settle for someone elses dream.
A pelican may not be to us the prettiest of birds but it is not dirty as the spend so much of their time diving into the water.. The boat looks awesome and just so you know most boat owners do day use of their boats on a week or two basis
Exactly thats how nearly everyone uses their boats you guys just envision that way of using your boat.. Now you could still do that on a yearly basis, but Everyone works for a living and therefore give the boats weekly or so daily use
I used to look forward to watching your channel every Sunday when sailing. I still have been watching, but sometimes it is a week or 2 later after you started the land base videos. Hey, it is your guys life so i would do whatever makes yourselves happy. If a baby is in the future, land based would probably be better. Wish you all the best whatever you decide.
First of all I would like to say that Matt is one crafty guy! He can build or fix anything and it's always quality! Second I would like to say to keep the boat and make the time to sail a few times a year. Sailing is your passion and I think you would regret selling the boat! Last I would like to say I look forward to your video every Sunday! I'm excited to see the house being built!
I have to tell you guys that when i seen you were going back to the boat i couldnt hit play fast enough!! Although I will follow ya'll where ever you go and do I miss the boat life awfully!! Keep the boat, it doesn't owe you a dime! Much love from the coast of Maine 🤙 ❤️
Matt's my spirit animal. I'm never going to have this life but my heart beats to the rhythm of the trade winds and the music of Caribbean islands just the same. Keep it going, guys, I need my fix of the sea.
Everyone has to have a safe harbor. A place to call home and be able to relax and rejuvenate. Build the home-limit the animals-enjoy both worlds. I have 19 acres in the middle of Texas. I love it. But when I go to the coast I feel so relaxed and happy. Even if it is raining. My wife is afraid of the water. She does like the beach.
How far from the land is your boat? I vote you keep it and use it just like everyone else (like me) with boat few hours drive away and normal jobs. Yes, we use many weekends for work, but we also do summer vacation and weekends or long weekend getaways. You will miss the boat some day, even though not necesarily now with so much work on the land ahead. Happy for your wedding plans. ❤
Excellent, Matt did a fabulous job on the interior, everything looked spotless. Did you have any mussel growth in the intakes? I think your right, charter her out in Puerto Rico, even give Seamanship lessons, etc or start a tour guide of the various islands. You should be able to get 30 for her no problem.
I haven’t watched your videos since you left the boat. I hope you’re enjoying your new life. But I live on land and have to live vicariously through people doing the things I want to do. So cheers and thanks for letting me do that through you for a long time.
Matt, Kristen you guys did all you could for the kittens it's very touch and go with kittens that young with out their mother, hat's off to you, I've only Seen your last 6 videos on catch up this is my 7th, you seem to be really nice people with your love animals and the way you are, liking your videos looking forward to the next one, all the very best and all success in your future. 🏴🇬🇧
The 5k dollar boat was what brought me. It made it seem possible. All the other channels provide an impossible escape, but yall and double D provided hope and an achievable (seeming) dream to us regular ppl. Same thing with the homestead now. With your inspiration my life changed and I built it up to the gbu way.
Wow, I’ve been following you guys since day one. It makes me so happy to see good people who work hard have their dreams. Come true enjoy your life the boat will take care of itself.
So good to see you guys back on the boat! I have been really wondering what is happening with it. Whatever you decide to do with the boat please, please don't let it go the way of the sea. You have put way too much hard work into it to let that happen.😊
you two are fun to watch The Sailing aspect of your show is what drew me in. To be honest, if you switch to all land based content you may lose those subscribers who want to see sailing adventures. In the end, the decision is all yours, its your life and do what makes you happy in life. God Bless in which ever way you continue
Been watching you guys from the time you were in Florida. The homesteading is good but I still like the sailing adventures. Can't help it as I'm a boater myself and I miss Boat Yard Betty, Larry Laminato and Coolie. Keep the boat and as Kristen said, "ride it"!
I loved this episode….and being honest, I haven’t watched the channel every week since you guys left the boat…just not into the farm story..I’ve looked at a few of the land/farm episodes but haven’t finished any of them. It’s a business and life decision for you re: the direction of the channel and a personal decision re: you life after the wedding …and what you want your lives to be, the channel, adventure, farm / homestead life, etc…. I used to watch every week , every episode so I loved seeing you guys back on the board. You asked for us to tell you what we think…..either way, Chase your dreams…regardless! Fair Winds from Boston!
Oh my God! I have been biting my lip to ask you guys to go sailing again! I know you have your animals and your projects and it’s very important to you guys. And it’s all new to us from watching you for several several years! It’s been a joy and it is going to be a joy from here on out. Thank God you’re back on the Dead Dolphin! Even for just some sporadic weekend trips! Keep on keeping on You Two!
Keep the boat! You've both put a ton of work and love into it and you would regret selling it. Sail to your wedding then store it there until you have time to come back and sail it home.
Find a captain you trust Matt and charter the old girl out for tourists wanting to see the islands that way you keep her sea worthy and she brings in some cash.
We can TOTALLY relate 😁 We work a charter business full time on the Texas Coast. We love sailing it’s also in our blood. But we also have several acres in country up in east Texas that we want to farm. The dilemma of wanting to sail away and work out land at the same time is real. Here if y’all ever wanna chat about chartering. We are very experienced with that.
It's nice to see you guys back in the boat you guys are definitely doing a great job on the land project however with the kittens I can tell you thru experiences you never touch kittens when they are just borns that's the reason why the mom abandoned them I know that thru experience but we learn something new everyday 🙏🙏🙏
Keep the boat and find a balance between land and sea.

Glad to see your back on the boat! I am going to tune back in!
I'm excited to see the house being built!
i am sorry to say i am so happy to see y'all on the boat. but I realize the land offers so much adventure also. Big help i am.
We have a little one on the way as well! Dream big. Love yall.
Boat looks good. You'll figure your way. Be patient and keep following your hearts. You guys are great.
Did we miss something? You mentioned "junior is coming ". Are you expecting? The boat looks amazing!!
You can have the best of both worlds if you continue to take things slow and plan it out
Been watching you guys from the time you were in Florida. The homesteading is good but I still like the sailing adventures. Can't help it as I'm a boater myself and I miss Boat Yard Betty, Larry Laminato and Coolie. Keep the boat and as Kristen said, "ride it"!
You should do Pay pleasure sales That way you could still go out on the boat and enjoy it
Remember to enjoy "the journey!" No need to rush anything even the building of your house. "Take time" as you said, for what brings joy. Happy living!
The interior still looks awsome! Nice!
Great episode. I think you should keep the boat and take a boat trip at least once a year. I think you'd regret it if you sold it. Balance is the key.
Here is a thought SALE THE BOAT. You can always buy later. Your losing money every day
once a year isn't enough..you have to check on your property intermittently when no one expects it...❤
@@annreiter284 it’s a tough decision
I’m pretty sure most, if not all enjoy your adventures on the boat. It is GBU after all, but what makes you happy??
Cabin in the woods and Cabin on the water. What else could you ask for!
Keep the boat! You've both put a ton of work and love into it and you would regret selling it. Sail to your wedding then store it there until you have time to come back and sail it home.
Great seeing you guys back on the water
You can have both. There is nothing wrong with being a sailing channel with a home to come back to ;).
Keep the boat!🙏
Whatever you decide to do with the boat it is beautiful. Very nice job fixing it up.
I'm loving you guys back on the boat. I miss these episodes x
I'm glad you still have the boat. I wasn't sure you kept it except you didn't mention selling her.
Find a captain you trust Matt and charter the old girl out for tourists wanting to see the islands that way you keep her sea worthy and she brings in some cash.
This! At least try it and if does not work out… regroup and figure something else out!
We can TOTALLY relate 😁
We work a charter business full time on the Texas Coast. We love sailing it’s also in our blood. But we also have several acres in country up in east Texas that we want to farm. The dilemma of wanting to sail away and work out land at the same time is real. Here if y’all ever wanna chat about chartering. We are very experienced with that.
More sailing adventures,please!
yes
I totally agree on this one.
It's nice to see you guys back in the boat you guys are definitely doing a great job on the land project however with the kittens I can tell you thru experiences you never touch kittens when they are just borns that's the reason why the mom abandoned them I know that thru experience but we learn something new everyday 🙏🙏🙏
I do miss the boat life!
That's exactly why I subbed years ago! And Kristen!
