Awesome setup man, and thank you for your service! As a fellow wrong hander, the first thing I did to mine was put an ambi 45 degree safety, also put the shorter lever on the left to keep it out of the way.
Ditch to irons or install off set. His glass isn’t QD so he needs tools to get sights if he breaks his glass. (Honestly it’s LARPing, I do it, you do it, we all do it but in this case it doesn’t make too much sense). Also he can’t confirm his irons, so it’s to be assumed that they aren’t on. How many times have you had two optics on a gun and switched back to the set you don’t use often only to find they aren’t on. It could be different ammo, it could be the set screws loosened, or it could be from jostling.
And if it’s a hunting gun a few sore rounds for the inevitable time you forget the mags or ammo. I have a small punch in one side, 3 hunting cartridges, and some small parts like gas rings and KFC wet wipes in the square compartment. (AR10 obviously). It’s never been useful but I’ve seen other people screw up this way so 2 ounces seems fair.
That truly is some HOTNESS you've got going there with that build, C. I have a grey Fostech that I love, but you've definitely got me thinking about "highlighting" it with some black parts---that's real sharp. And thanks for your service.
Yeah my main squeeze rifle has changed a few times as well. Running a Aero Precision M4e1 receiver set, Aero nitride BCG, Faxon Integrated flash hider gunner barrel, Aero gas block/gas tube, Midwest Industries 11.5 handguard, bcm vertical grip, Cry Havoc quick release barrel systen (great for discreet travel), Radian changing handle/safety lever, Magpul K2 grip, Phase 5 EBR bolt release (better versionof a bad lever), Magpul extended mag release (my lady has small hands), LWRCI UCIW PDW stock system, Holosun HE512C GD gold dot (I'm color blind and gold works), Vortex Micro 6x magnifier on a ADM flip mount (the vortex mount has too much play for 6x), Diamondhead polymer iron sights, and a Surefire 640df pro. I think that's everything. But basically I wanted a full size rifle that fits is a normal size backpack. An it works great for that.
@@M8Military I got a Bren 2 and a Tavor 7. Both are short stroke gas piston guns. But guess what... neither break down to fit in an every day size backpack. Nothing beats a good old direct impingement AR15 when it comes to aftermarket options.
I bought a rifle that came with a geisselle trigger. I'm now going to buy one for my other rifle..from brownells of course. Anyway, that is a very nice rifle ya have there. It's amazing how nice you can get a gun to look and operate with some know how and research. And of course having a buddy who can get you a top notch bcg can't hurt any. I like the idea of setting one up the way you did for this one. You have function all day long but you also made it look nice like one of those off the shelf eye catcher guns. Of course I'm not gonna copy this rifle but thanks for the ideas. Always something I can learn from other gun guys..
Thanks for the huge amount of information for what a professional puts on their AK. The hand stop was of most interest to me since i have a few AR pistols that i want a way to prevent my hand from getting in contact with the flash hider and still be legal relative to foregrips.
Caleb, if you get the Gieselle maritime bolt catch you can reach it with your trigger finger without breaking your grip. I shoot lefty as well and it is really nice.
I too, am left eye dominant...which makes me cross eye dominant because im right hand dominant. I learned that after i bought my first AR, many years ago. The first time i held the rifle up, im like WTF?! where is the sight?! Then realized which i had naturally closed...the right eye. Obviously never had an issue because i just move the pistol in front of my left eye (never realized before then). Caleb employs the switch hitter method, but i just kinda trained myself to be able to shoot a rifle with my left i shut....now its just automatic...i aim a pistol, right eye closes. I aim a rifle, my left eye closes
For those who are looking for a lower that has a PDQ lever. SilencerCo and Gibbs Arms has one. Aero had one but I've never seen it in stock (probably discontinued). I'm surprised you're gun don't have a weapon mounted light though.
Not sure about the efficacy of BUIS on the top rail if your not running QD scope mounts. I’m left-handed as well, and put my BUIS on the left 45 degree angle M-LOK slots of my hand guard. It makes for a short sight radius, and it takes some training to get a quick sight picture, but I feel it provides the most redundancy in an actual live-fire scenario. I’d love to have a Trijicon RMR on the 45 degree offset, along with a Larue Tactical QD scope mount, but that’s about $800 I can’t afford at this time. I’m no cheapskate when it comes to quality kit, but I still have to live within my means.
Slow to respond, I've got one of the Battle Arms selector /safeties with the same finish in my part's collection somehow I broke the screw off in threads so out it went to part's box. I agree with seeing the rifle in fired condition is a step up for AR's to many get hung up on keeping them spotless clean... Still believing the B.S. about AR's not being reliable. Just lube, run it and on occasion run patch or boresnake if needed. Back in early 2000s I did a "Franken build" AR that only got oiled, shot put up then ran again for over 6 months of well over 5 k of ammo. Brass case, steel 55-62 gn. the "high tech" lube.... Walmart synthetic 10W30 oil. The reason I finally "cleaned it" was the mess it made in my safe, Jeep or anything it touched.
@@coder0079 you’re exactly right, he said “if a can”. 20+ min video of awesome products and in depth explanation and people focus on something so trivial
I know it is not usually accepted, but I won't pin my gas blocks if they are under the hand guard. If the barrel-gas block is beaded, dimpled and set with Rocksett correctly, it will never come loose. Pinning a barrel can effect accuracy. I would like to see in a future video if your great mill job on the lower receiver for the ambi catch has any side effects by milling off the hard anodizing. I love the look and set up of your rifle and you did a great job with your choices and lower milling..
Love the video, but one correction....that is the Norgon ambidextrous magazine release, not the troy. The troy industries has a paddle that says "troy". There are a lot of companies that now make that exact ambi mag release, since the patent expired. The Norgon is around $80 or $90, the cloned models run between $25 to $40.
I currently another B5 stock sitting in the cart, but the magpul ACS and STR's are like $30 off right now at brownells! 🤫 Looks like I'm paying regular price for the B5 sopmod... Caleb talked me into it! 😉 although I'll probably grab another STR aswell for the price! Both stocks work well for me. I've actually never tried the magpul ACS, but boy is that price tag tempting! 😁
Caleb see if your friend can get me one of them F1 BCG’s. I got to have one! I missed my chance to get one back in the day and now you got to buy the whole gun to get one.Them thing are something else.
Caleb you should try some Magpul mlok covers for the 12 O clock slots, they redirect the heat to reduce mirage and make C clamping a bit better. That's a NORGON ambi mag release on there, hope it's not one of the knock off's, they tend to drop mags due to weaker spring inside them, ask me how I know.
@Brownells All I can think that you missed was the springs and pins, really I wanted to ask about offset iron sight. Wondering what the best are, different features. Is it even possible to mount a regular iron sight using a 45* offset? Really wanted to try having a RMR + front iron sight but not sure how possible or good it is.
Pretty sure that is not a Troy ambi mag catch unless they just started offering a Norgon clone (Norgon's patents recently expired). More likely its either the CMMG copy, or the (IMO) inferior Arms Unlimited version.
Right when I saw that spacer I knew what it came from! Ultradine muzzle device probably the Athena. Happy veterans Day to all you service men and women out there thank you for my freedom and may GOD bless you and your loved ones 🇺🇲

Title was clickbait, I thought this video was all about your hair!
Thank you, I just ordered my MI handguard for my 13.9 build, just need a flash can and a can of alumihyde
Awesome setup man, and thank you for your service! As a fellow wrong hander, the first thing I did to mine was put an ambi 45 degree safety, also put the shorter lever on the left to keep it out of the way.
It's nice to see somebody using thought and reasoning rather than it just looks cool when choosing parts for their AR.

The V7 port covers _do_ look cool.
I've been out of the AR market for years, so it was nice to be brought up to speed to on few things available these days 👍
18:48- You did it Caleb! You found the Golden Ticket to the Battle Arms Development Factory! Give my best to the Oompa-Loompa.
He was asking for .30-30 last I went.
Honestly, I like the battery compartments, sir

New Hotness. Feels like a 'Men In Black' movie flash back!
Need a list of all the videos referred to in this one. Would love to see a price list or at least an overall cost to build such a weapon!
Would love to see a vid of you on a shooting course with this thing!

Without a short stroke gas piston system the rifle is still going to be dated. Gotta get an hk416 upper

I was watching the vid and at the 17:00 mark, the black Brownells ram logo was superimposed on your lower grey receiver. That looked cool.
Very nice setup. I'm starting to like that gray coloring.
Always good having another correct shoulder shooter.
I watched this video when it dropped, but I just had to watch it again. Love your videos
What a beautiful rifle I can tell your very proud of it.
That's a norgon, not a troy ambi mag release. Troy has the lever towards the bottom.
Very nice you made it your own.

That looks like a real nice setup, love that color too.

Awesome - thanks for all the great videos.
Awesome build, Caleb! Well done!!!
Awesome build! It looks great.
That grey color is beautiful
Nice ! Happy Veterans Day guys!!

Norgon was the originator for that mag catch
Well done.

Caleb, disregard my last transmission. Great vid! Semper Fi
That thing is beautiful
Nice build. Very well thought out. Something you'd expect from a good gunsmith 👍
Great set up! If I’m not mistaken, that’s a Norgon ambi magazine release. Not a Troy

Caleb, you've got me thinking of milling my lower for a PDQ lever now... Why can't I just leave things alone.
Because it's objectively better, not least of which because it significantly reduces the likelihood of NDs.
It’s a beauty Caleb!

Fortis offers a TiN coated safety selector barrel.
17:08 that f1 look a good deal like cryptic coating bcgs, I own one in that rose gold and their lighted bcg in dlc great products.

Does the "scalloped" lever come included in the packaging? And is this the bad ass safety selector?
Sound like a fixed gas block so maybe describe the barrel's gas hole diameter on SOL and others... especially with diff muzzle devices?
Yeah I'm kinda curious on the tuning of this rifle as well. There's gotta be a buffer change when he shoots suppressed or something.
