    Thank you so much for the thorough explanation option of those mattresses.
    I was wondering if you could help me out? I am debating between a Icomforteco Q20GL plush pillow top ( is it soft enough and also concerns with the previous comment about the 2 different gauge numbers for a short person 5’3) and the Cobalt Calm pillow top (medium or plush). I understand the different points that you mentioned in your video. I am more concerned about the support and the softness and how long it do they last. I am a side sleeper. I want soft but support.

      Hi Madan -- Thanks for your question, and your kind words. Overall, I think the iComfortECO hybrids should be quite similar to the iSeries hybrids in that particular regard, so I'd recommend making your decision based on other factors. As described in this video, the iComfortECO models do have a number of other features that the iSeries models don't have, however those may or may not be a priority for you. I hope that's helpful.

    Really great information. Background and question. I'm 6'2", 225 lb, long torso even for my height, 68 y.o. male, combination side and back sleeper. Lower back muscle pain, increasingly in the past couple years. Currently have a 10 y.o. Sealy Posturepedic Destiny, 100% foam mattress. Even with the mattress on the floor, if I sleep on it it consistently tweaks my back. I don't have back problems when I sleep in hotels or on friend's hybrid beds, though they often feel harder than I'd like. Fixing the back problem is priority one though!
    I tried a iComforteco Q10 medium yesterday for maybe 10 seconds. It felt fine offhand. Maybe a little firm, but thinking I should err that way for back support.
    Question 1: Should the lower number models, less layers/thicknesses, give better back support?
    Question 2: Is there much difference between Serta icomforteco and Sealy Posturepedic for back support for my body type?
    Thanks for any information.

    Thank you for this information. I was considering the Serta i Comfort ECO Quilted Hybrid Q 40 HD Ultra Plush Pillow Top. After watching this video, I am reconsidering because even though I very much like a soft bed, I’m not really a fan of very high dense memory foam. Since I am a light weight petite person ( 5’ 2” & 113 lbs ) I like to sleep “in” my bed & I like a “cradling in” sensation but I prefer a very soft, airy, looser, fluffy type foam. I was almost going to order this mattress but I will continue my search. This information has been very valuable. Thanks again.

      @deniseparashac8269 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is there a mattress or mattresses that you would suggest that would be soft whereby I would have that “nestling in/ cradling in” sensation? Since I am a petite, light weigh person weighing about 113 lbs. I like a soft feeling in a mattress & I like foam but not the high density memory foam. As I mentioned just previously, I prefer a softer, more airy, lighter, looser type foam but still cushiony.

      @@deniseparashac8269 So in most cases, density is independent of softness. We'd expect the Q40HD to still be quite soft - and maybe even a touch softer in the smooth top model. Both should be available in stores if you can get around to trying these out?

    Hi, thanks for the detailed explanation. I still have few qs hoping you could answer.
    Whats the overall thickness for q10 extra firm? Im seeing some websites listing as 10.5" and some as 11.25". I cant find the thickness of each layer either..
    How is the motion isolation on q10 extra firm?
    Does this feel more like traditional innerspring due to not having thick foam layers?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there! So we generally think that most extra firm models feel fairly similarly with an overall sense of extremely firm foams or minimal foam and an underlying coil unit. In this case, the Q10 Extra Firm should feel similarly to other very firm innerspring models, just with a slightly cool to touch cover.
      As for the layers, there's not much complexity in the Q10 model. This is about a half-inch of quilt foam with a half-inch of memory foam underneath. And we think that the 10.5" is accurate.
      I hope that's helpful.

    One of the issues with this collection of mattresses, is that by having sections of the mattress than contains two different gauge numbers ( a firmer coil system for the lumbar region & a more flexible coil system for the hip & shoulder region), that Serta didn’t seem to take into consideration the length of a person’s upper body. For example, a shorter upper body length would place that person’s waist/ lumbar region up closer to the top of the bed & their waist would not be on that firmer region. In that case the hips would actually be on the more firmer coils which would be the opposite of the concept that it appears Serta had in mind but it appears they might have based the location of that firmer section of coils on where the lumbar region on a person of average height or average upper body length, would be located. With a shorter upper body length, the lumbar region would be up closer to the top of the bed, resting on the less firm coils & the hips would be resting in the firmer coils, thereby not being good for spinal alignment. This mattress collection would have been much better if Serta used the same coil gauge number throughout the entire mattress, because then the shoulders & hips,being heavier parts of the body, would sink a little more, thereby creating better support in the waist/lumbar region.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey again! Thanks for sharing this perspective. Your point about how this style of zoning could be counter-productive for people who are below a certain height (eg, 5'0" and shorter on a queen, or 5'2" and shorter on a king) is quite interesting and useful. This is a rather unique style of zoning. We have spoken with many people that like it, and we do think it would be advantageous for some types of sleepers (eg, folks with wider hips and a narrower waist), while others would be better off on a more traditional 3-zone design. I hope that's helpful.

      @@deniseparashac8269 Hey Denise, We sympathize. It can be hard to find suitable mattresses for smaller framed persons. I don't recall all of the mattresses you've tried, but generally plush options will use lighter, higher-gauge coils (around the 15 range) and would be suitable for you. You might look at a few of the Beautyrest Black Plush Hybrids, the Sealy Albany Posturepedic Plus Hybrid, and some plush models in the new Beautyrest Harmony Lux line. With online brands it's a bit difficult to gauge softness in their very soft models, but if you can get to a Brooklyn store they have a wide variety of options. The Aurora could also be a good fit for you.
      We should also have a few new features on the website shortly that'll sort existing models by firmness. Hope that helps.

      Thank you so much for this information. I really appreciate this valuable service. As you said, it can be challenging fir a light weight petite sleeper to find a suitable mattress. I tried the Serta i comfort ECO Q40 Ultra Plush Hybrid. I found it to be a little too much of that high density memory foam feel for me. I am a side sleeper & I like to sleep in or cradle in the bed” but not a super high density memory foam feel. I also like a soft mattress with a flexible high gauge coil system with a some bounce. I watched your videos for the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid, ( I would be interested in the soft model) & the Aurora Lux models. ( soft). Other than the cooling feature of the Aurora, what would the difference in the “feel” be between the soft Signature & the soft Aurora? I don’t have a BB store near me & I’m considering both & trying to decide which one would be best for me in terms of fit & feel. Thank you so much!

    @goodbed Thanks for great video! Is the Firm pillow top and the Plush pillow top the only difference in The two Q20GL Mattresses? Are they both 'Firm' support in accordance with Serta rating- it's unclear from the website if the Plush Pillow top is on a 'firm' mattress? And which one is better for a side sleeper with back pain? Thanks!

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there -- Thanks for your question. The spring unit on both of these are the exact same, so it is only the foam layers above the springs that differ between these two models. The net effect is that we categorize the Firm Pillow Top as a "Medium-Firm" on our spectrum, and the Plush Pillow Top as a "Medium-Soft," and there is a similar difference in the amount of cushioning depth between them, with the Plush model having substantially more. Bounce levels are pretty similar but we also found the Plush model to have a tiny bit more memory feel.
      As for which one is better for a side sleeper, this one will depend on your body shape and weight. You'll get a LOT more conformance on the Plush model in this case, so if you need that (which a curvier side sleeper might), this one will be way better. However, if you are a heavier side sleeper, you might find the Plush model allows your hips to sink a little too far into the mattress. As for the back pain, this will generally depend on making the right choice based on the spinal alignment considerations I just described. Spinal alignment is always about personal fit, so no mattress will be universally better for back pain than any other mattress.
      I hope that's helpful.
