When you're putting on the new pads you should loosen the reservoir cap (I usually put a rag underneath the reservoir to prevent causing stains under the reservoir), then use the old thin pad with a "C" clamp to compress the piston. This will eliminate that expensive tool set, when done just make sure you tighten the reservoir cap and remove rag.
That tool will be needed for the rear brakes. If you get overflow from compressing a single piston....then someone put too much brake fluid into the reservoir. Reservoir caps have an overflow port cut into the cap......so you cannot over pressurize the system.
I just bought my 2009 dodge journey and I am really learning a lot with you about the parts Thank you because everything you are teaching I am doing to my car thanks
Good video with many helpful hints. A few things I might add. Take a few pictures as you go, especially of the clips holding the pads, work on only one wheel at a time unless you plan to remove your rotors. You can loosen the bleeder and use channel lock pliers to push back the piston. Have a pan handy to catch te fluid. Bleed your brakes as the fluid have probably is more than 5 years old.
you make it look so easy to pull off that rotor but let me tell ya i had to use a huge 3 jaw puller with a breaker bar plus heat the rotor and hammer it with 2lb hammer. was not a fun job but thanks for posting it did make it easier
I watch your videos all the time! Because of that I was able to change my purge solenoid on my 2014 Dodge Journey, saving myself $1500, for a part that cost less than 40 bucks, and took less than 45mins to change. However, I have looked through the comments and have yet to see what type of brakes these are. I want to use ceramic, but I am not sure what is the best quality. I'd appreciate your input on this.
Great video. I've got a 2013 Journey and the drivers side CV boot ripped, now it's making a noise and I need to fix it along with new rotors and brakes. A video on that would be helpful.
Thanks for this video, I'm in Canada and my 2015 Journey has twin pistons calipers in the front, yours seems to have single piston calipers, apart from that the procedure is identical
At min 7:03 right below your hand holding the caliper (it’s actually behind that) looks like the bottom of the engine there’s some sort of condensation. What is that. I noticed the exact same thing on my 2011 Dodge Journey. Do I need to be worried? Is it a gasket of some sort? Anyways good video on brakes helped me out a lot and saved a lot of money!
When I decompressed the calibers on both sides brake fluid overflowed from the reservoir (i had the cap off). After completion my peddal goes down to the floor with and have almost zero brakes at all. I thought perhaps i had air in my lines. I air freed all 4 brakes (twice) and still have no brakes. Any opinions? Did the master cylinder blow a seal? Thank you
Did the 26ft lb on the caliper small bolt. I didn't install new pads and the vehicle drives strange. I decompressed the caliper pistons then pumped the brakes til I got pressure. I then put on tires and tightened everything up and started up vehicle. Vehicle still droves weird. ;( is it the brake pads?
I've bought a 2012 dodge journey. It has new breaks on it. It squeaks when breaks are applied, and also I can hear the breaks rubbing as iam driving. I have put 3000 miles on it and still I hear the pads rubbing. What would be causing this.
Do you have a video showing how to air bleed the brake system including the ABS module. After brake fluid change at the service shop now the brake pedal of my Freemont goes down to the floor and feels spongy.
@@cqmacht4513 I think so too, but two different service shops done several bleeding procedures and tests unsuccessfully. The car was at the service shops for two weeks and they said the brake system is OK and there is no air. I cannot trust them and because of this I ask here for the bleeding procedure including the ABS system bleeding with the software tool. Thanks.
Make sure if your "painting" your brakes your using heat resistant paint. And sanding down the braces a little and cleaning them with isopropyl alcohol to clean away any dirt. Paint will stick alot better and not chip.
Hi .. l have problem in my car dodge journey 2011 the problem code is U0125 lost communication with dynamic sensor .. can you help me to fix this problem .. and thank you for your help .
You're going to confuse everyone compressing the Piston. You didn't mention the kit or where to find them. I never knew about that. I have always done it old school with a c clamp. You compress it with the pad or small piece of wood
Good day sir, I have a 2012 dodge journey there a water leakage on driver side, coming from the. Frame, do you know how to fix this is / or where it's coming from

GREAT INDEED!!!
Great great video! Clear step by step instructions were of great importance for a gal like me.

Don't need to undo the nipple just open resivour cap in engine bay and press piston in ....saves wasting fluid.
Yessir that’s how I was shown but used a small plank off wood an C clamp but the old pad is jus genius thanks
I just bought my 2009 dodge journey and I am really learning a lot with you about the parts Thank you because everything you are teaching I am doing to my car thanks
Very professional. Like that you took extra detail and care.

Hi. Do you know the Torque specs for 2018 Dodge Journey Se Front & Rear Calipers & Guide pins? Thank You for any help.
When I decompressed the calibers on both sides brake fluid overflowed from the reservoir (i had the cap off). Love your videos and thank you for the vids guys. Much appreciated
I like the Paint Job
CHECK - the Brake Fluid Reservoir ✅
I looked through all your videos and I couldn't find one for how to (replace front sway bar bushings)
Can you do a 08 expedition front brake replacement video?
I'm trying to replace my wheel studs on the front side. Is it possible to do so without taking off brake pad and caliper ?
Great job filming and explaining everything. Thanks.
I have a question what size of rotor are the front and back of a 2012 Dodge journey sxt 3.6L 4wd ? can you please help me ! Thank you
I belive is 330 mm
Did the 26ft lb on the caliper small bolt. I didn't install new pads and the vehicle drives strange. I decompressed the caliper pistons then pumped the brakes til I got pressure. Define driving weird, why would u do any brake job and not install new pads?
My owners manuel doesn’t tell me the torque pressure for my breaks only for my tires so how do i find out for my brakes
So the torque pressure for the rear brakes are the same? Thanks in advance, great video!!
Are there metal clips for the passenger side?
Should add a list In the description nof what tool sizes you used so it's an easy follow for future videos
I have a 2012 Dodge Journey an I need to replace my Flex Pipe. Is it possible to cause the check Engine light to come on due to having a leak

did you guy sprayed painted those ?
Thank you 💪🏾

you still have air in the lines ,need to bleed more

thank you guys
What size rotor it yours 330
What’s the différence between double and solo piston caliper
Great video guys. Thank you
Great job how much money to pay this job
By the way you can use a C clamp and a small piece of wood to compress your break caliper
Thank you brother nice job. Hopefully I can do the same.
So you don't have to bleed the break lines?
I bleed the brakes everytime I install new pads it takes a little extra time, but worth it consider the fluid can absord water over the years.
best ever!
How old were this set of brakes on this vehicle?
Thank you so much ☺️
Love You Guys
Should grease caliper bolts so will move back and forth easier
Love the video
Great video

Thank you. Very informative
❤❤❤❤thanks
what year dodge journey is this?
You didn’t say where to get the replacement parts!
Auto suppy store. Have your make and model number ready. Always call before starting job.
You're going to confuse everyone compressing the Piston. You didn't mention the kit or where to find them. I never knew about that. I have always done it old school with a c clamp. You compress it with the pad or small piece of wood
C clamp is all you need
Good day sir,
I have a 2012 dodge journey there a water leakage on driver side, coming from the. Frame, do you know how to fix this is / or where it's coming from
Is it the heater core? Mine did that a few months ago
check the little plastic circular drain holes under the carpet in that spot
I did mine and ended up with a deep pitch humming sound when braking above 20mph
Did u use brake grease on back of pads, caliper bolts, piston? Did u change rotors?
❤
Hi My name is HIBEEB
👉🙏🤔👍
Drop the 200 video bit , now one gives a craps and its annoying as hell
Crappy paint job. Crappy colour.
What if I don‘t have This kind of instrument for the piston and it don‘t go back?
Open the bleeder valve and use a channel lock pliers. Have a pan handy to catch to fluid. You will need to bleed the brakes when you are finished.
