- A Light combat aircraft is a light multirole jet military aircraft most coming from advanced trainers that have been modified or designed for engaging in light combat missions, either in a light strike or attack missions, reconnaissance, or interdiction roles while some keeping its trainer role. They are also slower than their bigger counterparts and most are only capable of subsonic speeds though some are capable of reaching Mach 1+. Although equipped with either guns or short-range air-to-air missiles it is usually for self-defense purpose or anti-hostile aircraft/helicopter missions not for air defense as lightweight fighters do, though some are capable of air to air combat or point air defense missions due to integrated or have variants capable of carrying powerful multi-mode radar systems, most LCAs don't have such due to their small limited design or are less powerful. However, they can still be used to patrol the skies and implement border patrol or air policing. These aircraft are usually smaller and more lightly armed than the bigger multirole or strike aircraft such as the American F-18, F-15E Strike Eagle, or Russian Mig-29. Most LCAs are armed with either bombs, rockets, or gun pods used for COIN or CAS missions. Some aircraft have been developed to integrate more advanced armaments such as smart bombs and air to ground missiles, ECM pods (Electronic Countermeasure), and electronic targeting systems for better mission capability.

All very well, but these planes are not really going to be used for long range missions are they. They are light attack aircraft, to be used near the front line, not straying a thousand miles into enemy territory.

Lol, didn't you notice that all the planes except teja are trainers?😂 For example, Hongdu L15 is used in PLA Air Force to train novice pilots, not combat.
The video is actually saying that the combat capability of teja is only at the same level as other countries' trainer planes, and teja is only slightly better than the aircraft used by China to train novice pilots! Are you sure this is a compliment to India?😂
As for the JF-17, it's on a higher level with jas-39, rather than with teja in the ranking between trainers. 😂These two kinds of aircraft are really capable light fighters.

Here in the Philippines 🇵🇭 we have 12 KAI T-50s (FA-50PH variant) and 6 A-29 Super Tucanos (All are in service)

No medium/large scale conflict atm so no air support required yet but i guess they will used it to bomb the communist rebels/ muslim insurgents when the pilots are done training with the Brazilian Air Force cuz they are training our pilots atm for 2months as part of the contract.
A-29 tucano has been tested against FARC in Colombia and terrorists in Afghanistan... Here in Brazil we mostly use them for counter-narcotics and border patrol in the Amazon. For the Philippines it is going to be used against the enemies you mentioned for close air support, light attack, surveillance, air-to-air interception, and counterinsurgency missions.

For LCA THE SPEED MATTER A LOT
lca Tejas is great fighter with 6.9 ton fuel+ payload weights only 13.5 tons has a descent range of 1100km with full load but it is more used for point defence mean we have other fighters to bomb instead it will be used for air to air engagement missile weights only 154kg astra it's standard missile so it does really great job being lightweight.

FA50 - the fighter/attact version of TA50 is actually combat proven in the Philippines during Marawi siege. Tejas are not proven in any combat yet. Also J17 never mind.

I dont know what parameters they have considered to put korean jets above hal tejas.hal tejas is far superior than korean jet in terms of weapons,composite materials,radars,flight refueling,hot air refueling etc as its a complete multirole jet.

They say Korean engine is better and even more fine tuned than GE engine but I don’t see it being substantiate better than LCA
