Another great vLog. I love it when towpath walkers offer to help out (especially when a boater is, for whatever reason, less mobile than average). It can be useful to keep a bag of peas in the freezer, just for when an injury requires a bit of cooling. I don't know if you know this trick, but if you want to see how fresh eggs are put them in a bowl of cold water. If they sink to the bottom and lie on their side they are very fresh. If they sink to the bottom but stand on their end they are reasonably fresh. If they float they have gone 'off'. If you get into the Reading area I will have to introduce you to a shopping chain that I look after (my employers look after quite a few shops IT systems), as they have a small choice of alcoholic beverages at (usually) below RRP. I had to walk across the cemetery near me recently, quite late at night. All seemed normal until I heard a weird, ethereal tapping noise. It didn't sound threatening, so I went to investigate. I found an old guy, working on a gravestone with a small hammer and chisel. "Phew", I said, "I thought that noise might have been a ghost. If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing?". "Well", he said, "I got lucky today. Somebody left this hammer and chisel nearby, and I can finally correct the spelling mistakes on my gravestone!". Take care, stay safe, and happy cruising.

Hello Heidi and Bonny .... I am so sorry you got hurt. It does bring up a point that people living single really need to keep in mind which is what do you do if you get hurt or sick? Whether you are a van lifer or a narrowboater or live in a house or apartment and you are single you need to have a well thought out emergency plan just in case and some bare minimum emergency supplies readily available. Parents had boat moored at Spencer's Bridge (where you helped guy retrieve his glasses) back in 1970's ... spent many long summer days messing about around that bridge in my early teens. Water, boats and travel always been part of my life ... like you, lucky enough to retire early but we're bimbling along by sailboat with similar challenges of finding moorings and tap for fresh water!! Thanks for the channel ... and the memories :-)

Phew .. a scary moment when you had the fall😵💫😳 pleased all ok❤. My daughter did " a right job" this year snapped a ligament in her right thumb - 5 months! Op, mum's TLC (in Q 4 months) and rehab. It is so ironic that i just returned home from a visit to a wee dog park tucked away here in Dundas Ontario! I helped a dear friend adopt a terrier mix called Bella,and she runs around just like your sweet Boonie...so fun playing chase and fetch. So sorry to hear about your injury. That wind looked fierce and i bet it is scary at times. All in all,an adventuous day! Stay safe

She is improving but a long way off from being able to let off the lead if ever in places where dogs are about …. Due to her lack of social skills she lunges and barks in the faces of big dogs, knocks them over and they turn on her … she is great when we take the time to meet a friends dog slowly but with strangers she is very rude 🤣🤣

It is so ironic that i just returned home from a visit to a wee dog park tucked away here in Dundas Ontario! I helped a dear friend adopt a terrier mix called Bella,and she runs around just like your sweet Boonie...so fun playing chase and fetch. So sorry to hear about your injury. That wind looked fierce and i bet it is scary at times. All in all,an adventuous day! Stay safe

Bonny seems to have very good social skills from what I've seen.❤ 🐕🐾🙂
She is improving but a long way off from being able to let off the lead if ever in places where dogs are about …. Due to her lack of social skills she lunges and barks in the faces of big dogs, knocks them over and they turn on her … she is great when we take the time to meet a friends dog slowly but with strangers she is very rude 🤣🤣

I do love watching your videos Heidi, your enthusiasm and happy go lucky attitude to life is truly infectious and a tonic to all who watch I'm sure. I'm a landlubber but very keen gongoozler who loves being around canals and walking their towpaths and you're a great advert for narrowboat life and the lovely community around it. One day I shall have that narrowboat.

What a good idea the doggy park, Bonnie has a few moments as a proper dog in stead of being able seaman. I like the way dogs have toys to chase. A nice interlude.
