    You are not invited to the party because you are hungry or because you are thirsty, you are invited to make conversation.
    Now that's a great lesson!!

    My mother's disgust of rudeness and poor hospitality has been permanently carved into my brain. Every time I am faced with ill mannered folks or blatant disrespect from strangers, I hear my mother's voice telling me to keep my cool and be gracious.

    I was always taught that ladies do NOT cross their legs in a skirt. You may cross your ankles, but you "keep a nickel between your knees."

      I was taught this as well, but a big part of my growing up was at the hands of religious sisters.

      With how short some dresses are, maybe this should come back into fashion. It reminds me of when there was a big todo about men "manspreading" on subways and taking up two seats in doing so. So it's not just for women, I guess.
      Ya know, my Momaw was told by a nurse to not cross her legs when she was diagnosed with diabetes. Crossing her legs cut her blood circulation! So this rule not only is proper but also avoids a bad habit that can hurt you later in life. I'm sure we all know how hard it is to break a bad habit.

      It depends on how short the skirt is

    • @vintagemodernblendedliving2191
      @vintagemodernblendedliving2191 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think with anything above the knees, even slightly, this rule should apply but knee length and below the knee I don’t see it as improper 😊

      @@TheNaev how can respect be earned? To be a respectable person, one has to be respectful, I think.
      Respect is something that can be lost when another shows disrespect. They might be able to get it back, but it'll never be the same again.

      I am still in middle school but growing up when my momma was starting to teach me manners if I did not say yes mam, no mam, or saying mam when i did not here a question she would give me the eye and I knew I was in a world of trouble. I remember one time I did not hear what my mom had said and I said What, and she looked what me and said "What did you say"/ Nowadays it really bothers me when I hear kids bad mouthing their parents or TALKING BACK to their parents because I know that if they have the guts to talk back then they don't have respect for their parents. And what really scares me is them feeling like it is ok to disrespect adults like this when in reality it is INCREDIBLY rude.

    Ladies, here's some etiquette for you: 1) You're too old to wear ribbons in your hair. Either style it or cut it. If you chop it all off, have some sort of style to it. 2) You're too old to wear short skirts and show your legs like a 20-year-old. 3) Some of us women over 50 *need* to wear stockings no matter what other women do. Our legs don't look good enough to do without. Think Walmart customers on TH-cam here.

    • @pinkmagicali
      @pinkmagicali 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      singspiration12 You are never too old to wear ribbons! Short skirts are a personal choice not the public’s. And if people want to cut their hair in a certain why it’s up to them. There is a fine line between etiquette and dictation.
