My mother's disgust of rudeness and poor hospitality has been permanently carved into my brain. Every time I am faced with ill mannered folks or blatant disrespect from strangers, I hear my mother's voice telling me to keep my cool and be gracious.
With how short some dresses are, maybe this should come back into fashion. It reminds me of when there was a big todo about men "manspreading" on subways and taking up two seats in doing so. So it's not just for women, I guess. Ya know, my Momaw was told by a nurse to not cross her legs when she was diagnosed with diabetes. Crossing her legs cut her blood circulation! So this rule not only is proper but also avoids a bad habit that can hurt you later in life. I'm sure we all know how hard it is to break a bad habit.
Yes.. I always told my Two Beautiful Daughters as they were heading out the door for a Party to Behave like Young Ladies that We know that they are. IT WORKED! Praise JESUS!
Society has gone to hell. Generations of women have taught manners and etiquette to their children however some women have stopped doing this. It is very sad!
The stockings reference 🤣 reminds of when I was a teenager and one of my childhood friends told me about how her grandma didn't understand how her granddaughter could wear a dress with no stocking. 🤣❤️
What’s wrong with having manners? Seriously? Saying Please , thank you , showing respect for your elders ? I know if I didn’t when I was growing up, I’d be getting the feel of the belt
@@TheNaev how can respect be earned? To be a respectable person, one has to be respectful, I think. Respect is something that can be lost when another shows disrespect. They might be able to get it back, but it'll never be the same again.
I am still in middle school but growing up when my momma was starting to teach me manners if I did not say yes mam, no mam, or saying mam when i did not here a question she would give me the eye and I knew I was in a world of trouble. I remember one time I did not hear what my mom had said and I said What, and she looked what me and said "What did you say"/ Nowadays it really bothers me when I hear kids bad mouthing their parents or TALKING BACK to their parents because I know that if they have the guts to talk back then they don't have respect for their parents. And what really scares me is them feeling like it is ok to disrespect adults like this when in reality it is INCREDIBLY rude.
My southern grandmother wears them every single day. She also accessorizes with her jewelry, puts on lipstick, and uses her fine china for tea every single day. I adore her 💗
Rupert Harrison don't need to " know " them to take what they are sharing and learn from it. They are discussing Manners and Etiquette, which today is as gone as the Dinosaurs. I don't know of them personally but their presentation is on point.
Their names are in the title of another video; they are Gayden Metcalfe and Charlotte Hays. I wish they were my neighbors! Update: They write books! Funny books about Southern manners and customs. I'm adding every one of them to my Amazon wish list.
Ladies, here's some etiquette for you: 1) You're too old to wear ribbons in your hair. Either style it or cut it. If you chop it all off, have some sort of style to it. 2) You're too old to wear short skirts and show your legs like a 20-year-old. 3) Some of us women over 50 *need* to wear stockings no matter what other women do. Our legs don't look good enough to do without. Think Walmart customers on TH-cam here.
singspiration12 You are never too old to wear ribbons! Short skirts are a personal choice not the public’s. And if people want to cut their hair in a certain why it’s up to them. There is a fine line between etiquette and dictation.
You are not invited to the party because you are hungry or because you are thirsty, you are invited to make conversation.
Now that's a great lesson!!
yeap to many now a day act like its to be feed and they are entitled to be there. Just terrible people are raising their young ones like that!

I think I could listen to them talk all day.
I was always taught that ladies do NOT cross their legs in a skirt. You may cross your ankles, but you "keep a nickel between your knees."
Gayden and Charlotte probably grew up in different time than you and me anyway
I was taught this as well, but a big part of my growing up was at the hands of religious sisters.

It depends on how short the skirt is
I think with anything above the knees, even slightly, this rule should apply but knee length and below the knee I don’t see it as improper 😊
Excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You ladies are needed in today's environment
Yes.. I always told my Two Beautiful Daughters as they were heading out the door for a Party to Behave like Young Ladies that We know that they are. IT WORKED! Praise JESUS!
Don’t be a bump on the log, add to the conversation. Love that!
Society has gone to hell. Generations of women have taught manners and etiquette to their children however some women have stopped doing this. It is very sad!
So true! My mama would lose her mind if she heard/saw what's happening in today's world!
Men too. My Daddy taught me just as much as my Momma.
The stockings reference 🤣 reminds of when I was a teenager and one of my childhood friends told me about how her grandma didn't understand how her granddaughter could wear a dress with no stocking. 🤣❤️
The very definition of true ladies...
And gentlemen!
Legendary Ladies!
These ladies are gracious.
Oh God 🙏 please let me age like them
Don’t be a bump on a log. Truer words never spoken.
Aw I love these women
Aren't they great?!

I agree with please and thank yous. I don't agree with automatic respect. People gotta earn my respect
Amen! And we are better off for having learned the lessons.
"Manners or a tanned hide, you choose" famous words before a whooping

Can ya'll recommend a book? I want to fine-tune my manners! (with a little southern flair, of course!)
Look for books by Emily Post or Amy Vanderbilt. These are the gold standard.
Samara Molix-Marshall thank you
The blue book of emily post
Hallelujah!!
Is there more places to view these ladies views? Love em.
I knew that lady was from Mississippi before she said so.
Thank you.
Usually when they talk about the south they forget about South Carolina
Not so. "The South" certainly includes SC! The term includes all states within the Bible Belt.
Yeah, I’m from South Carolina and I count it as one of the “forgotten states”
They forget Virginia , which was literally the original South
Men always walk curbside of ladies.
General Dan Butterfield, grand Army of the Republic.
Moreeeeee
Stockings? No one does that anymore. She should update her southern edicate.
I guess I don't exist, then
My southern grandmother wears them every single day. She also accessorizes with her jewelry, puts on lipstick, and uses her fine china for tea every single day. I adore her 💗
👀
I wear a nude stocking. If is good enough for p
Princess Kate, it's good enough for me
As Flannery O'Connor said, "When in Rome, do as you done in Milledgeville."
Does anybody remember that children don't speak in public.
I am raised in the Netherlands with the phrase : When adults talk, children should be silent. 😃
When I was growing up, a lot of the adults in my family often said that children should be seen and not heard. .
These people are insufferable
🇺🇸❤💝❤🇺🇸
Should I know who these ladies are? Because I have no clue.

they are Mr. & Mrs. Boring AF
Stephanie Boudreaux I'm sure you're charming company, my dear. Bless your heart.

Funny, this seems more like an opinion than etiquette or manners, and I don't remember anyone asking for your opinion
I disagree. These ladies looks very neat and presentable. You're just being sexist and ageist.
