I have it and all the expansions and it’s really hard to win if you’re a survivor. It’s not balanced. Even on the most basic killer, most of the time the killer will win.
At 30:16 Blair couldn't have searched because the killer was in the same room. 35:28 Laurie should have discarded 2 cards from the deck before drawing 3. 55:17 Laurie had to discard the last card he drew, he couldn't choose which to discard. 1:04:50 when the killer reappears from stealth he does an automatic search at his location. 1:07:38 Laurie should have drawn the unlocked card into his hand instead of putting it into the deck. Great video nonetheless!
The fact that Tom still isn’t the main villain of this episode even after making a surprise appearance last time is tragic. This game literally is Tom!
This is my first time seeing this game. Maybe it’s just too much survivor bad luck and Laurie being too good here, but it feels very skewed in the killer’s favor if it’s game over after one death. After looking at the rule book online, I’d love to see them playing the Separate Ways variant.
Last time it was much harder. Might be that the map or new killers in the expansion are not as balanced. And partially it was luck and bad strategy from the players.
The game is pretty well balanced. The survivor trio here played pretty poorly in the second game. Running into traps while the killer was near, not keeping the killers kit in mind. Staying in the same space as the killer is also never a good idea. The survivors also announced a lot of their plans
I love the idea of Terrorscape, but the fact that the game is over when one person dies seems contrary to the narrative format for most horror/slasher stories. :(
Driving a car down a road on a rainy day, the car breaks down and they are forced to seek shelter inside a mysterious mansion Maybe an alien from the planet Transylvania will be inside?
Feels like having to kill them all would be better, not everyone makes it out of a horror movie alive after all XD Since both games here ended while the killer was at their "weakest" (we never saw their level ups except a preview of the hunter's)
Yeah, player elimination is seen as bad game design in modern games (and I can see why) but a variant where you have to kill them all would be fun as well. Not sure how the balance would play out but seems like it could work.
@@Morcarag There are options to add in this in the KS version, at least, called "Separate Ways" that makes the survivors less team-focused. This way, however, the focus for the survivors should be in healing anyone injured to keep as far from the end-game as possible.

@@MeonLights i mean it would still be playing terrorscape... but with doms thatcher, johnson and....whoever was the third i forget right now the real monsters XD
There is a "Separate Ways" rules variant, which allows for a somewhat "semi-CoOp" type game. Was really hoping for this in the video. The game won't end unless all survivors have either escaped or eliminated. A Killer that eliminates 2 or more survivors counts as a victor while eliminating all 3 counts as a great victor with the achievement of "No One Can Escape". The game can end with a single survivor and a killer winning together. Each survivor only needs 3 keys, they don't take an item slot and if they die they can be picked up by another survivor.
I think ultimately it wasnt the dice that beat them but how they seemed soo adamant on making all the wrong choices for survival. Like its better to do the discovery with the furthest player because the killer needs to move more to catch them or not using the extra action noise making to move the killer away from them.
@@Gauron. Ya but at least for the werewolf, they can almost always get to the survivors unless they're literally on polar opposite sides of the map. The whole range of the map could be clear on a range of 5.

I feel this game extremely favors the killers, especially with the dice being so skewed towards a 1 or nothing. One more tip never announce you're making noise when you do it. Put the token silently on the space and announce it at the end of the turn. Helps to have one player designated as the card / token master so only one person is drawing cards and placing tokens as to not give the monster extra info.
This style game could benefit from commentary: after game analysis like the battle reports would be fun: hard to know what they're up to, still fun to watch 😊
This game doesn't seemed balanced to me, maybe they just aren't the best at these games but the hunter always seem so overpowered. Even in the original game the killer was crazy and the only way to win seems really difficult for the survivors. I haven't played the game personally onky seen NRB play. People who have played this game let me know if I am wrong.
So, Balancing any asymmetrical game is hard...but not quite as hard as it may seem in this video. Laurie brings it up at the end, but our survivors just....don't run away from him. Their biggest advantage is their unknown location, and the ability to divide and conquer. Instead, they all stayed right next to him and repeated the same actions over and over! It can work if you bluff him out but they're only attempt to bluff was to stay with him. Some actions that might have helped our best friends (and Jon), would be to use the broken bottle on a turn when no noise was made to turn the coin flip into a complete misdirection, staying away from the monster until they had items to fend it off, and you know, actually fleeing after being knocked about
@@britfaic ah I see that does make sense some of the moves they made I did question as to why they did that. Thanks for the explanation basically the three survivors were to predictable in their actions 👍

Dang, this game is so lopsided it even made this group less fun to watch (I mean, there was zero tension about who would win). Seems like it would take longer to build the dice tower/screen than play the game.
Imma be honest here, I get that it is an asymmetrical game, but this game feels way too skewed in direction towards the lone player. Look at games like Betrayal and stuff like that for much more balanced, and thus more exciting, games. There's not much point in playing a game where +80% of all games are going to go about the same way. The problem, how I see it, is the size of the maps combined with the mobility of the killer; it's simply way too easy for a killer to, even on turn one, to reach a player. Changing the win condition for the killer to all players (instead of just one) would help a bit, but I think it's still too skewed to really be enjoyable. The killers should be nerfed, or the maps a lot bigger, in my opinion.
I know this is Board Game Club, but I feel the RPG table-layout would’ve been better suited (Laurie in the GM chair, with the others round the semi-circle). Maybe something to keep in mind for next time.
While the video was fun the game itself doesn't feel right. One either the monster side is just too overpowered or the games just go by to quick with no sense of build up to terror. The players role is just search and run away from the monster to escape. Otherwise get the keys or the map. The monsters at least in my opinion need a slower build towards power to avoid early kills. The first few turns the monster should be searching for players, pinning down their movements and tracking them. Build then towards fear. Then the creatures become able to do heavier damage to best not get caught for it will kill a player. Also it feels like it is missing events or something that could either hinder players or monsters. Another action like hide a player not moving or searching to hide so they are invisible to search unless the monster did not move too. I don't know it just feels like its lacking more of a horror and terror element and feels more just like a player hunt. Again nice video but the game is lacking something unless there something missing from the way they are playing it.
