    I actually went to the dentist more than ever in the past year. My teeth were in horrendous condition from a rare autoimmune disease causing chaos for years. And since everyone was wearing masks, I took the opportunity to work on my teeth during that time. I’ve gone every single week for the past year. Fillings, deep cleanings, extractions, partials. With multiple specialists and oral surgeons, and next I go to a periodontist in a couple weeks. It’s been a long journey, but I have such beautiful teeth now. And still only about 75% done.

    I just had my first dental appointment in almost two years and... It was bad. Due to COVID and depression, my dental health was atrocious. The cleaning was so painful but I'm never going to let it get that bad again. Thank you for all this great information, it's really been helping me build back my healthy teeth and gums!

    This!! All of this!! I now have to have a another root canal cause my cavity went unchecked for so long! I’m so disappointed in myself but I’m making sure to keep up with my daily routine and even flossing at work or when I’m just watching tv at home

    I'm 23, I had a terrible time as my depression etc blew out of control during covid and I often couldn't get myself to even shift my body in bed, so I rarely ever brushed my teeth.
    I also hadn't been able to afford going to the dentist for years. So my last dental visit was scary, and it turns out I really messed up my teeth and went from 3 cavities in my life to tooth/bone loss! I wish people told me that there's such a thing as 'disposable' toothbrushes (travel toothbrushes that are often used by the disabled community who are like me. I think they're waterless too, I don't remember) so that I could've avoided being in a health dental debt and a financial dental debt as I am now.

    I had a cap and crown replaced recently and my dentist was mad at me, because i wasn't comfortable with it as it felt extremely large.. he kept filing or soldering it down and I explained that it felt large on the inside not the outside.. I pointed where with a tool and the mirror in front of me, so I thought he understood me, but he kept filing the outside lower and lower.. I was terrified... just about cried.. his wife was nice and understanding of my situation.. she was his helper and tried to comfort me, but he was to upset to hide it... he raised his voice at me and said " pretty soon there's going to be no tooth left" as scared and uncomfortable as I was I raised my voice back and said do you want me to go home like this? And his wife immediately said no if you're not comfortable we will make another one no extra charge.. finally one last try he did it right but it was still big on the inside and he was also filing the outside lower so it was slanted, but I made the decision to deal with it even if it damaged my upper tooth by grinning against it alot more.. the reason I made this decision was because I feared he would make it worse next time around or denie to do work on me and my insurance was with his office and with covid I was afraid things would shut down again and I'd be stuck without a cap and crown.. aslo.. I had my first deep cleaning done 15 years ago through western dental they did a great job with that, and so every 3 to 6 months I go to the dentist for regular cleaning since thn, but with covid it was over a year since I had a cleaning done so this time around this new dentist office my insurance was assigned to.. dentist said I needed a deep cleaning.. this is the same dentist that did my cap and crown.. so I had the deep cleaning done and ever since then my gums haven't been the same .. they are nasty.. they feel softer and more sensitive to everything .. foods and toothpaste even mouthwash and they feel extremely soft and gooey and discolored and darker pink or red on some areas.. he's a bad bad dentist. I just read his reviews and I wish I saw them before.. because he has a 2 🌟 rating on Google.. also after he put the cap and crown on to make sure it fits... his wife glued it on and she took long because she wanted it perfect, but he was rushing her because he wanted to go eat.. once they were done... the receptionist congratulated him and told him (see you still got it) great job 👏 I was shocked... because this meant he stopped doing it for a while.. and now I know why beause he messed up someone else's mouth before me.. I assume so by reading the Google reviews.. I've never seen such bad dentist Google reviews.. I can mention the place here but idk if that's allowed

    I'm 29 and the last few years I have neglected my teeth due to extreme depression and social isolation. I didn't brush in mornings and skip nights of brushing, we're talking about brushing once every 3 days or so.. Really stupid but my mind state wasn't in a good place. I still have all my teeth suprisingly although some of my gums has receeded and I get some tooth sensitivity, but I'm taking things serious now because I still want to have my teeth when i'm lets say 50-70.

    I’ve had braces since a few months before covid happened and it’s been at least two years since my last dentist appointment (I did it right before I got braces) and now I’m almost positive at least one of my teeth the filling is gone and I need it replaced but I talked to my orthodontist last month and he said I need to wait to go to dentist until I get my braces off (this month or next) so I’m just trying to cut down on sugars and brush better until then. I brush 2-3 times a day (the third is when I drink something like coffee or soda which I have been trying to cut down a lot) I honestly don’t trust my dentist because of reasons in the past but my brother and mom have always gone and been fine but idk. I’ve done oil pulling a few times and that helps a little I think… we’ll see how it goes😬

    • @elizabethl6190
      @elizabethl6190 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1.) if you don’t trust your dentist, is it possible to switch?
      2.) are dentists open in your area? I’m from MA and I’ve had braces since Oct 2020 and I’ve been seeing mine every 3-4 months. Hope you’re well

    • @ajhartreal
      @ajhartreal 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elizabethl6190 Idek if they were open but now they should be. My mom is kind of a germaphobe and she wouldn’t let us go pretty much anywhere in 2020. And my brother and mom see my dentist too (I don’t think they have in a while either) so when I told my mom what happened at the dentist she kind of just ignored me. It was something the dental assistant said (which I found was true after researching) and when I asked my Dentist if that was true he said, “absolutely not I don’t know who told you that, my staff would never say that” and basically said I was a liar when he was the liar😃

    Need some advice. I am accustomed using a certain type of toothbrush ..a soft kind. But due to the pandemic , I wasn't able to get that particular brush. I got another kind and was different. The first and second time i used it, I noticed my gums were feeling too sensitive. And then after my gums were bleeding when flossing as well in certain areas. I then managed to get back my regular brush and it felt less inflammed upon using it. I also took care in flossing but it bleeds a bit. Do you think that is the problem of using a wrong brush and brushing hard? Also how long do gums heal to be back to normal? Thanks.

    • @algorithmsrock88
      @algorithmsrock88 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My roommate who is a dentist hygienist said that not using a soft toothbrush and brushing hard can definitely hurt your gums and that you might not be flossing correctly plus if you have tartar buildup that could be another reason for the bleeding gums. I had to have a deep cleaning and I started Whitney’s 30 day oral health challenge and I noticed a significant improvement in bleeding in about a week. About 10 days in and I have almost no bleeding except in areas where I have tartar build up. Make sure you watch Whitney’s videos on brushing and flossing correctly and go see your dentist. You don’t want recession. Good luck!
