Harry ending up with hermione would of been terrible. Harry was head strong and did as he pleases (or what he thought was right), if he ended up with Hermione then they wouldn't last long. Hermione was too similar to Harry. She would need someone who is opposite of her. In comes Ron, not only was he brave and kind, but he was raised by a strong female figure (Molly), so he would be used to dealing and loving a strong women. Personally I thought Ginny was perfect for Harry, but their relationship should of started sooner, especially since everyone always knew Ginny loved Harry.
And when JKR did that interview, it was all taken out of context. She never said she regretted it, or that she wished anything between Harry and Hermione. Which I really wish more people knew.

Ron doesn't deserve to be living in Harry's shadow, and then live in his wife's shadow as he would if he married the strong-willed Hermione. He needs someone who brings out his talents, and personality, such as Luna Lovegood. Also Ginny fancied Harry, but Harry had no real chemistry with her, it was about as one sided as any fan's chance with their favourite music idol.

Also, the author planned for them to be together from the start, so obviously they had to force in some chemistry to justify it, but the characters themselves would never have worked out after all the drama was over, and they'd actually have to spend some alone time together and rely on their basic personalities to entertain each other. Hermione would be bored out of her mind after Ron runs out of jokes. With Harry and Ginny, it may be loving, but so is a relationship with your brother or sister, what makes a marriage is love and sexual attraction, and Harry clearly wasn't attracted to Ginny in that way, if anything he married her to gain back a motherly love in his life, but I always feel he'll just love her like a friend.

Emanresuadeen I personally disagree with the Harry Ginny pairing, because of how Harry Viewed the Weasleys. How is it that Harry doesnt find Ginny to be his sister? Arther and Molly he views as surrogate parents at least until meeting Sirus, and he views the boys as all brothers. Its weird. Also the whole idea that Harry would end up marrying his biggest fangirl, pisses me off. And if we were being honest, neither would Harry and Hermione. We don't know when the first wizarding war started but we know it was already going on when Lily and James were in Hogwarts. When I was reading the books I hoped she and Harry would get together. She always seemed like an outsider to the you-know-who VS Harry war. I thought she could help Harry escape the path he was on. Jenny seemed like an odd fit for harry. And Hermonie was stuck in the friend zone.

I don't understand why people hate Romione. From book one I knew that Ron and Hermione would be together. No long-lasting relationship is easy. Harry and Hermione might have gotten along in the beginning, but Harry's too impulsive and independent. Hermione can be a bit overbearing at times and she needs someone who can knock her down a few pegs when she gets too overexcited. And I'm glad Rowling didn't kill Ron. Honestly I don't think Harry could have survived that. He was heart broken with Sirius, but he was used to going through life without adult guidance. But Hermione and Ron were his first true family and to loose them would be the last straw for Harry.

Honestly I thought that Hermione was gonna marry Harry too, but I like how she ended up with Ron instead. It wasn't like the traditional "hero gets the girl" plot. It also shows a boy and a girl can just be friends. I know that Hermione and Ron could have had that too, but you have to remember that Ron's biggest wish was to be a hero, and I feel like Hermione makes him feel like one. I actually really like that for once the title character isn't paired with the lead female character. Gives a different perspective of these high action romances. Instead of seeing the main character bumbling around with his romantic problems for 7 books/8 movies, you get to see how he interacts with his two best friends romantic issues.
I hate to say this but I think JK was wrong about Harry and Hermione hooking up, They in my opinion could only of ever be good friends and the Ron+ Hermione dynamic actually worked in a weird way.. plus it made for a nice alteration of the usually main boy gets main girl. It's worth noting that Rons character and importance was realllly underrated in the movies I really liked Harry and Ginny as a couple the compliment each other nicely and strongly reflect James and Lily

+Barry Sabahat If at all possible, you need to read all the books. I was 50 (last year) when someone finally talked me into reading them. I'd never even seen the movies, so I decided to read the books first and then watch the movies. While the movies were incredible, the books were so much more. As soon as I read through all seven books, I started back over again and reread them back to back. If you've only seen the movies, you don't know anything really about Peeves or Winky. Also, the movies mostly followed the books, but there were still quite a few differences that were better in the book version (Harry and Ginny's first kiss!).

Jumeaux Elaine I think when they reference the first wizarding war to the Muggle WWII they were think of Grindelwald who was powerful in Tom Riddles late Hogwarts career, and was soon after defeated by Dumbledore. The parallels would make more sense, and the timeline would fit better as well. Gindelwald did have a strong supremacy stance (No muggles or muggle-born and all that) similar to hitler.
I'm glad Ron didn't die, Harry and Ron always reminded me of me and my best friend and I couldn't take it if she died. She means the world to me and Ron means the world to Harry. I also think that Ron and Hermione are perfect together. I love it how they went from hating eachother to friends to lovers. I think Ron could make Hermione happy and Harry and Ginny are also a great couple, if you don't think Harry and Ginny are made for eachother, you're focusing on the movies and not the books.

According to J.K Rowling in an interview I saw (one where she's interviewed by Daniel Radcliffe himself), she had actually told Alan Rickman that Snape was in love with Lily Potter which is why he acts like he does. According to Rowling, Rickman would often say things to the directors and writers like, "Knowing what I know, I don't think Snape would do that". Daniel also mentioned in that interview that he had once decided to ask Rowling whether Harry dies, and Rowling had cryptically replied with "you get a death scene". Rowling also mentioned that she had gone to tell Matthew Lewis what happens to Neville, and Matthew just shouted "DON'T TELL ME!". Also, vaguely related trivia - In the scene where Dumbledore is at the station with Harry, the original movie script had Dumbledore making a comment about one of his past crushes. When Steve Kloves showed the script of that scene to Rowling, she immediately passed it back to him and just went, "Steve, Dumbledore is gay". Which was probably the first time Rowling had revealed that tidbit of info' to anyone.

I don't think Hermione should have ended up with Ron or Harry. We find out why Ron is so important to the trio once he disappears because without him there's no humor. Hermione is serious to a fault, and Harry is too quiet. Ron is the most human character of the three. Both H and H are morally superior to real world people, they always do the right thing and always feel concern for other people even people that have insulted them in the past. If they married they'd be the most boring couple in the world. Ron was funny, not quite fantastic at any thing and bad at most things, and he realistic when it came to how people treat each other. I don't think he was good enough for Hermione nor did I ever see any spark between them. I don't think that Ron deserves to die just because he's not flashy enough or too human unlike the other two that could have been declared saints and the book would have been much more boring without him.

Susan Mcauley Where in the books was Harry more intellectual than Ron? In any subject that Harry outperformed Ron, Harry always had extra assistance. The main two examples are Defense Against the Dark Arts (extra sessions with Moonie) and Advanced Potions (had Snape's old notes).

Madelyn Today I think the romance between Ron and Hermione was defiantly a situation romance, they had a lot in common, like saving Harry and going on the run together they paired together. I think after the battle at Hogwarts they would have realised this and split to look for other more similar. When you think about it in Half Blood Prince, where there is no direct attack on Harry, Ron dates Lavander, and Hermione tries a date with Cormac. I think in the end they would have realised their romance was partially due to the Life or Death situations they shared.

Don't forget that she offed Fred Weasley, Reemus Lupin, Tonx, Colin Creevey, and Mad Eye Moody and she cut off George Weasley's ear. So it would seem too harsh to kill two members of that family, one a principle character, and one a supporter, and then maim another. I am a writer myself, so I understand the need to always tweak your work. But it's fine. Ron ending up with Hermione is fine. Actually, I would expect that more because of how those two started off. Ron is not the academic wizard. He's not terribly good looking. He's average, and his weaknesses play to her strengths.
I would say at the time it was written, they were the least popular, but I would say NOW, it's Ravenclaw. At this point in time, Gryffindor gets a lot due to being the main character's house. Slytherin gets all the people saying "Not all of them are bad!", and it has gotten more attention recently due to the cursed child. Hufflepuff now has more attention BECAUSE it used to have the least attention. People like to root for the underdog, so they root for hufflepuff. Ravenclaw though..... Doesn't really have much attention at the moment.

I love all these facts! So many things I didn't know! The fact that eighteen people (Alan Rickman) have died from the cast of Harry Potter really saddens me, and that part about Harry's stunt-double is depressing. And to be honest, I love the fact that Hermione ends up with Ron, because it isn't the cliche of main girl ends up with hero of story. I've loved Ron from the beginning and I think if Rowling had killed him off like she killed Fred and George and Dobby and Dumbledore (breaks my heart) I probably wouldn't love this series so much. After the prisoner of Azcaban I always sort of though that Harry and hermionie fit together since harry's mom was also half blood. Once the half blood prince came out though I started to notice that the woman who plays harry's mom and the actor who plays Jenny look very similar so I figured that Harry and Jenny did belong together even though the movies don't give their romance any justice which is disappointing
OMG! This is my first hearing that Rik Mayall had died. I saw him and his family struggle after he nearly died in a 4 wheeler quad accident several decades ago. He was in hospital for months, but at least he saved his daughter and her friend from harm. He had to take pills at exact times throughout the day to keep himself well. I had no idea about the acute cardiac event in mid 2014, I guess because my own mother died of a rare cancer only two weeks prior, in NYC. As an only child to a single mother, she was my priority. Ron hates will love the last fact. I honestly never saw Harry and Hermione together, whenever it was just Harry and Hermione....they didn't get on as well. Harry felt like he was losing his voice in fourth year because he and Hermione hardly ever spoke, she just wanted to study and he wasn't as good at getting her to take a break. Unlike Ron would would happily voice his opinion and was a much better foil for her. Harry tended to keep his thoughts to himself, whereas Ron would tell Hermione if he thought she was wrong about something and it forced her to consider other points of view.
Having Ron and Hermione ending up together is, in my view, a beautyful thing for all those whose friends were more successful, richer and/or more handsome, showing them that the girl can fall for them. Add then the characterassassination of Ron in the movies compared to the books and the couple actually makes more sense

I was always told that Snape only knew why he hated Harry so he could portray that properly when acting. There are little differences between hating Harry because his father was a bully, and hating Harry because he is a reminder that Lily was never his. He never know why or the importance of his hatred from the beginning.

In comes Ron, not only was he brave and kind, but he was raised by a strong female figure (Molly), so he would be used to dealing and loving a strong women. Also Ginny fancied Harry, but Harry had no real chemistry with her, it was about as one sided as any fan's chance with their favourite music idol.

Also, the author planned for them to be together from the start, so obviously they had to force in some chemistry to justify it, but the characters themselves would never have worked out after all the drama was over, and they'd actually have to spend some alone time together and rely on their basic personalities to entertain each other. Hermione would be bored out of her mind after Ron runs out of jokes. With Harry and Ginny, it may be loving, but so is a relationship with your brother or sister, what makes a marriage is love and sexual attraction, and Harry clearly wasn't attracted to Ginny in that way, if anything he married her to gain back a motherly love in his life, but I always feel he'll just love her like a friend.

Emanresuadeen I personally disagree with the Harry Ginny pairing, because of how Harry Viewed the Weasleys. How is it that Harry doesnt find Ginny to be his sister? I don't understand why people hate Romione. From book one I knew that Ron and Hermione would be together. No long-lasting relationship is easy. Harry and Hermione might have gotten along in the beginning, but Harry's too impulsive and independent. Hermione can be a bit overbearing at times and she needs someone who can knock her down a few pegs when she gets too overexcited. And I'm glad Rowling didn't kill Ron. Honestly I don't think Harry could have survived that. He was heart broken with Sirius, but he was used to going through life without adult guidance. But Hermione and Ron were his first true family and to loose them would be the last straw for Harry.

Honestly I thought that Hermione was gonna marry Harry too, but I like how she ended up with Ron instead. It wasn't like the traditional "hero gets the girl" plot. It also shows a boy and a girl can just be friends. I know that Hermione and Ron could have had that too, but you have to remember that Ron's biggest wish was to be a hero, and I feel like Hermione makes him feel like one. I actually really like that for once the title character isn't paired with the lead female character. Gives a different perspective of these high action romances. Instead of seeing the main character bumbling around with his romantic problems for 7 books/8 movies, you get to see how he interacts with his two best friends romantic issues.

+Barry Sabahat If at all possible, you need to read all the books. I was 50 (last year) when someone finally talked me into reading them. I'd never even seen the movies, so I decided to read the books first and then watch the movies. While the movies were incredible, the books were so much more. As soon as I read through all seven books, I started back over again and reread them back to back. If you've only seen the movies, you don't know anything really about Peeves or Winky. Also, the movies mostly followed the books, but there were still quite a few differences that were better in the book version (Harry and Ginny's first kiss!).

The parallels would make more sense, and the timeline would fit better as well. Gindelwald did have a strong supremacy stance (No muggles or muggle-born and all that) similar to hitler.
I'm glad Ron didn't die, Harry and Ron always reminded me of me and my best friend and I couldn't take it if she died. She means the world to me and Ron means the world to Harry. I also think that Ron and Hermione are perfect together. I love it how they went from hating eachother to friends to lovers. I think Ron could make Hermione happy and Harry and Ginny are also a great couple, if you don't think Harry and Ginny are made for eachother, you're focusing on the movies and not the books.

According to J.K Rowling in an interview I saw (one where she's interviewed by Daniel Radcliffe himself), she had actually told Alan Rickman that Snape was in love with Lily Potter which is why he acts like he does. According to Rowling, Rickman would often say things to the directors and writers like, "Knowing what I know, I don't think Snape would do that".
Daniel also mentioned in that interview that he had once decided to ask Rowling whether Harry dies, and Rowling had cryptically replied with "you get a death scene". Rowling also mentioned that she had gone to tell Matthew Lewis what happens to Neville, and Matthew just shouted "DON'T TELL ME!".
Also, vaguely related trivia - In the scene where Dumbledore is at the station with Harry, the original movie script had Dumbledore making a comment about one of his past crushes. When Steve Kloves showed the script of that scene to Rowling, she immediately passed it back to him and just went, "Steve, Dumbledore is gay". Which was probably the first time Rowling had revealed that tidbit of info' to anyone.

Frankly, I don't understand why all of them had to end up with each other or even anyone at all. I just feel like the pairings were kind of forced and illogical.

I think they'd make each other so happy because they are so different....even since the first book they have been bickering like an old married couple....harry and hermione have an amazing brother sister relationship and I HATE it when people tear it down...its so pure and sweet....

I don't think Hermione should have ended up with Ron or Harry. We find out why Ron is so important to the trio once he disappears because without him there's no humor. Hermione is serious to a fault, and Harry is too quiet. Ron is the most human character of the three. Both H and H are morally superior to real world people, they always do the right thing and always feel concern for other people even people that have insulted them in the past. If they married they'd be the most boring couple in the world. Ron was funny, not quite fantastic at any thing and bad at most things, and he realistic when it came to how people treat each other. I don't think he was good enough for Hermione nor did I ever see any spark between them. I don't think that Ron deserves to die just because he's not flashy enough or too human unlike the other two that could have been declared saints and the book would have been much more boring without him.

I think she should have been with Harry, because while they'd be a boring couple, they both like that intellectual and 'proper' type of relationship, so whatever works for them.
Also Ginny was Harry's fan girl, I think it was unrealistic that they ended up together, it's like a fan ending up with her music idol. Ginny really didn't *need* to marry anyone from the cast, she should found someone she feels equal to, instead of an idol that she puts above herself.
Ron should have ended up with Luna Lovegood, I can see them having a fun hippy-style life together.
Susan Mcauley Where in the books was Harry more intellectual than Ron? In any subject that Harry outperformed Ron, Harry always had extra assistance. The main two examples are Defense Against the Dark Arts (extra sessions with Moonie) and Advanced Potions (had Snape's old notes).

Madelyn Today I think the romance between Ron and Hermione was defiantly a situation romance, they had a lot in common, like saving Harry and going on the run together they paired together. I think after the battle at Hogwarts they would have realised this and split to look for other more similar. When you think about it in Half Blood Prince, where there is no direct attack on Harry, Ron dates Lavander, and Hermione tries a date with Cormac.
I think in the end they would have realised their romance was partially due to the Life or Death situations they shared.

So it would seem too harsh to kill two members of that family, one a principle character, and one a supporter, and then maim another. I am a writer myself, so I understand the need to always tweak your work. But it's fine. Ron ending up with Hermione is fine. Actually, I would expect that more because of how those two started off. Ron is not the academic wizard. He's not terribly good looking. He's average, and his weaknesses play to her strengths.

I would say at the time it was written, they were the least popular, but I would say NOW, it's Ravenclaw. At this point in time, Gryffindor gets a lot due to being the main character's house. Slytherin gets all the people saying "Not all of them are bad!", and it has gotten more attention recently due to the cursed child. Hufflepuff now has more attention BECAUSE it used to have the least attention. People like to root for the underdog, so they root for hufflepuff. Ravenclaw though..... Doesn't really have much attention at the moment.

I love all these facts! So many things I didn't know! The fact that eighteen people (Alan Rickman) have died from the cast of Harry Potter really saddens me, and that part about Harry's stunt-double is depressing. And to be honest, I love the fact that Hermione ends up with Ron, because it isn't the cliche of main girl ends up with hero of story. I've loved Ron from the beginning and I think if Rowling had killed him off like she killed Fred and George and Dobby and Dumbledore (breaks my heart) I probably wouldn't love this series so much. After the prisoner of Azcaban I always sort of though that Harry and hermionie fit together since harry's mom was also half blood. Once the half blood prince came out though I started to notice that the woman who plays harry's mom and the actor who plays Jenny look very similar so I figured that Harry and Jenny did belong together even though the movies don't give their romance any justice which is disappointing

OMG! This is my first hearing that Rik Mayall had died. I saw him and his family struggle after he nearly died in a 4 wheeler quad accident several decades ago. He was in hospital for months, but at least he saved his daughter and her friend from harm. He had to take pills at exact times throughout the day to keep himself well. I had no idea about the acute cardiac event in mid 2014, I guess because my own mother died of a rare cancer only two weeks prior, in NYC. As an only child to a single mother, she was my priority. I don't know how I didn't hear about it later from Ade Edmondson. RIP Rik, you made me laugh and cry, and were a great to those you knew. XOXO
Ron hates will love the last fact. I honestly never saw Harry and Hermione together, whenever it was just Harry and Hermione....they didn't get on as well. Harry felt like he was losing his voice in fourth year because he and Hermione hardly ever spoke, she just wanted to study and he wasn't as good at getting her to take a break. Unlike Ron would would happily voice his opinion and was a much better foil for her. Harry tended to keep his thoughts to himself, whereas Ron would tell Hermione if he thought she was wrong about something and it forced her to consider other points of view.

Having Ron and Hermione ending up together is, in my view, a beautyful thing for all those whose friends were more successful, richer and/or more handsome, showing them that the girl can fall for them. Add then the characterassassination of Ron in the movies compared to the books and the couple actually makes more sense

I was always told that Snape only knew why he hated Harry so he could portray that properly when acting. There are little differences between hating Harry because his father was a bully, and hating Harry because he is a reminder that Lily was never his. He never know why or the importance of his hatred from the beginning.
I don't think Harry and Hermione should've ended up together. For me they've always been like siblings, and I don't like the fact that "the hero" always get the girl :) I do prefer Hermione and Draco, but Ron is also alright
